Oh dear that dinner table scene makes me think

Vastra/Jenny/Strax DIE, though it could just be within one of the many different timelines and stuff and for EFFECT

I think

at least one of them will die (possibly Vastra)

. Apparently though, that's the

"impossible conference call" that Strax, Jenny, Vastra, River and Clara all attend before being 'abducted' by (I'm presuming) The Great Intelligence

.

Matt Smith has confirmed himself for Series 8, saying that it will go into production either at the very end of this year, or at the beginning of next year (which more or less says it won't be back until summer/autumn 2014 after the 2013 Christmas special).
No mention on whether he'll be in it all or not?

Nah, he's just said "I'll be in series 8, definitely". There's an interview about it in this week's TV guide that comes with The Sun.

Clip from the episode:

It looks like Clara is

making a soufflé

. :o

There's another clip on Digital Spy, too - with the Doctor and Clara.

Another clip from the episode:

So it appears River may not have been

"the woman in the shop"

after all.

Talk about saving the best till last, I loved every minute of it. I loved the homage to the past doctors cleverly used throughout the episode, can't wait for the November episode to tie everything up, 10/10... prefection.

Jenny dying (twice) nearly broke me. At least it was timeline shenanigans and she's fine.

Interesting episode, regardless, felt much more serious than the rest of the season - good homages to the past as well. I like.

I agree! John Hurt, eh....

That was the PERFECT finale, and probably the best of the series (maybe even the best of NuWho). CLARA IS THE BEST COMPANION EVER

Clara's revelation was absolutely fantastic ~ although the fact that it was almost identical (with more information added on) to what we heard her say in the trailer was disappointing. It would have been better if that was just a tease, and she was in fact somebody else - and pulled off a massive revelation instead - changing what happens in the finale. Seeing Clara blended in with the Doctor in the clips that included the previous Doctors - I think Moffat will have pleased A LOT of classic-Who fans. That added a really nice touch to the episode.

I feel really sorry for her, that she sacrificed her own life just to save the Doctor. Now we know how she ended up in both of the places we had met her before, and it was nice to see that SHE was the person who led the Doctor to choosing the TARDIS that he has to this day! Fantastic!

Dr Simeon's return was fantastic, and he was just as villainous as he was in The Snowmen. The scene where he ripped his face open to reveal an empty shell, and then reformed from a Whisperman was rather scary, but interesting at the same time. A good idea from Moffat.

The whole episode was perfection really, and that ending with John Hurt, I literally cannot breathe! We are in for a treat in the 50th Anniversary! Cannot wait to see what Moffat has penned - and it's great that it will be shown on the Anniversary date itself. 10/10 (11/10 to be generous :kink:) for this episode, one of Moffat's best scripts to date!

ROLL ON NOVEMBER! :D

A quick comment to say that the clips with all the old Doctors was probably a better idea than bringing them all back. While it would be noce to have a massive multi-Doctor epidsode, it would probably look wrong that they all look considerably older and there would be too many characters. The montage was a nice homage to them and the fact that Clara helped the Doctor leave...just wow!

Anyway, great episode and a satisfying finale which helps build up for November!

The behind-the-scenes clip of Matt and David on the 50th Anniversary has been released:
It was an interesting revelation about Clara, although interestingly it was copied/borrowed/ripped off from the anime series Puella Magi Madoka Magica. And John Hurt...all I can say is I need to know more.
Well given what I've read about the role John Hurt will be playing I'd say it's rather obvious where they are going. It's just the details of it which will be rather more unexpected.

INCREDIBLE.

Clara is brilliant. She makes Amy seem like an amateur- I mean, what a bloody risk!

Was so gripped. The best episode of Nu-Who I've seen in a LONG time. Perhaps the best series finale aswell?

It was a great episode, much better than the Series 6 finale.

I liked the revelation about Clara but it didn't feel natural that she'd just take such a huge risk to save her, because we've only known her for a few episodes.

I also didn't like the Great Intelligence in the episode, last couple of times it wanted to take over the world and now it suddenly decides to kill itself to stop the Doctor? Unless there's some hidden agenda to be revealed in the anniversary episode, the GI must be the worst villain in a finale.

It was a good episode but to be honest I'm a little unimpressed with the whole name of the doctor thing. It all seems a lot more like arty sentimental hooha than an interesting storyline. I don't really care what the doctor's name is.....I'm not sure I ever really cared actually.

People are more than just their names.

The monsters were a bit odd too, no explanation or anything. Just thrown in there to fill the scary monster quota.

I didn't care about the name of the Dr. actually, the actual name of the show is called Dr. Who, it would have taken the sting out of the actual TV title, otherwise the next series would be called Dr. Paul or something.
