Album pre-order is top 10 in 16 countries - Sadly not quite in the UK, but probably would have been if it weren't such a crazy busy week for albums. #6 in USA is rather impressive.

I was out for the rest of the day so I just tried it now and they've sold out of the signed copies.

It was strange to have both signed and unsigned at the same price to begin with :cry:

For whatever reason I really wasn't liking this at all on first few listens. But gave it another go when the vid was premiered and I can happily say I'm loving it now. Something about Marina's tracks that just always catch my attention.

People need to calm their tits about the single(s) from this album performing well. It's pretty clear Marina herself doesn't give a shit at this stage, so it's time everyone followed her attitude :lol: If she's able to put out this album with no intention/hope for commercial success, there's no reason further albums won't come in the same way.

 

It would obviously be nice for her to get the recognition she deserves but... it was pretty clear that would never happen the second Electra Heart bombed.

I wouldn't say Electra Heart bombed. It certainly didn't do as well as you'd have initially expected/hoped. But it went to number 1 and was on about 80k last I heard? Also spawned a decent sized hit.

Electra heart more underperformed than flopped but I think the biggest mistake there was not releasing lies as a single :(

It bombed in the sense that its second single killed any chance she had of ever getting a radio hit again and the album sales weren't good enough to label her as an album artist. The sales for the album overall weren't horrendous but between P&C and HTBAH it was pretty clear that the era as a whole had ended her commercial ambitions.

Things did turn from very positive to negative very quickly. It was silly to have not pushed another single after P&C bombed (not that it was pushed very hard anyway)

I do like 'Power & Control', but I always thought it was an utterly stupid choice of single.

Electra Heart's release was a complete mess, and given the circumstances its commercial performance was rather respectable and also became her breakthrough in the US. P&C was going to flop from the word 'go', HTBAH's release in all honesty should've been reported to the modifiers

 

I think it's quite clear that this album will be commercially successful, which is a surprise to me, and with her 'Froot of the month' strategy and what she's been stating in interviews - she's here to sell Froot as an album and not a single

I think the 'Froot of the month' thing will really help keep her album selling steadily over the next five months - very creative way to use instant grats tbh

It would be good if she had a song or two on the radio though. I loved it how much Primadonna, Oh No, Hollywood and Robot were played on Radio 1.

 

I loved P&C, but I think Teen Idle could have been a good album seller, but who knows.

No radio one playlisting this week but I'm not really sure about if this is Froot's official release or not :unsure:

Marina posted that all signed box sets are sold out. So annoyed I didn't get one.
