If the record company have any sense, they will release 'Wake Me Up' a week tomorrow (7th July) as the fake version already top 40 proves that there is already demand for the track.

I actually really like the track, it's certainly unique and unlike any other dance track around at the moment. It feels like an ode to 'Swamp Thing' by The Grid too which, imo, is no bad thing. :D

This is now available for pre-order with a expected release of August 11th. It should help slow down the sales of the tribute version and I wouldn't be surprised to see it does as well as the 'Blurred Lines' pre-order did and end up being brought forward in a similar way.

(Yes, I did just copy exactly what I just wrote in the iTunes thread! :kink:)

This is a totally meaningless and soulless song but the jarring vocal to (admittedly strong instrumental) sort of works.

Will we remember in 2020 though?

Heard this yesterday and already really getting into it - I knew he was better than the averageness of I Could Be The One. Aloe's vocals are really strong and the instrumental isn't his best, but its really his infectious. Can easily see this being this years Feel The Love/Don't You Worry Child
Really annoys me to see people hating on I Could Be The One. That is one of the songs of the year!
He's on blistering form this year. Wake Me Up, I Could Be The One and We Write The Story are all damn near perfect, if not completely so. As I just mentioned in the iTunes thread, a chart dominated by Avicii is far better than one dominated by David 'Nothing But The Beat 6.5 - Scraping The Bottom Of The Barrel Edition' Guetta. You could hardly say that any of those three songs sound anything alike for a start which is a promising sign for a dance producer, many of whom become too samey reusing one sound over and over.

I love Avicii, but I Could Be The One was a letdown. Mainly due to Nicky Romero's very bored and annoying sounding vocal. His production was OK, but it always felt like it was threatening to go somewhere but never did. Otherwise, though, he's pretty flawless. I like how (as said above) he has a distinctive sound about him but at the same time never sound stale.

Nicky Romero is not the vocalist, he helped produce the song. The (uncredited) vocalist is Noonie Bao.

This is looking to be a sizeable hit now, when I first heard it, I thought it would do nothing, but the track just grew on me on every listen, its just a little bit different, a bit of country add some flashy dance music to it and viola, summer smash. All it needs now to drop before 12 August, it could also feature in the top end of the YTD chart for 2013.
Has Avicii released a proper studio album yet?

Not yet as far as I know, he is releasing one is September though and it is titled '#TRUE'.

Nicky Romero is not the vocalist, he helped produce the song. The (uncredited) vocalist is Noonie Bao.

Is that the same vocalist that features on Like Home with NERVO, because they sound uncannily similar. Never knew that :o

No, to put it simply:

I Could Be The One

Production - Avicii & Nicky Romero

Vocals - Noonie Bao

Like Home

Production - Nicky Romero & NERVO

Vocals - NERVO

NERVO is one of the rare occasions where they produce and sing, and even rarer - they are female. :o

It's brilliant! I love how his voice has a weird, country twang to it! ('I hated 'I Need A Dollar') Avicii is most certainly on a roll lately. His songs are different, whilst we still know it's him! It's great, especially for this time of the year.
