August 6, 201311 yr Heard this song ages ago, it's not bad actually! I reckon if they chose this as the last single (instead of Cinderella) it might've done better chart-wise
August 6, 201311 yr Obviously not going to be a hit but I think she knows it too :(. I dont think she particularly wants it to be a hit tbh. Shes releasing it on the exact same day shes releasing her album of the same name so it is excellent promo for the album. I also dont think well be getting artwork or a separate release, but shell just want us to buy the album, which is an excellent strategy lol Having said that, it would be awesome if the single did chart well with the album (thinking about Katy Perry's Teenage Dream!) August 9, 201311 yr Author That looks real to me! :D I assume we won't get a separate single release on iTunes, so the promotional copy going to radio stations will be the only time we'll see the artwork!
August 9, 201311 yr Really like this song! I think it could have done better than "Cinderella" if it was released as the lead single. I hope Diana gets some promo on X-factor later this year. With it being the 10th series, I just can not see her not being involved in some way. Edited August 9, 201311 yr by Envoirment
August 9, 201311 yr Author Really like this song! I think it could have done better than "Cinderella" if it was released as the lead single. I hope Diana gets some promo on X-factor later this year. With it being the 10th series, I just can not see her not being involved in some way. I wish I could agree with your point about the X Factor but after 'Once' wasn't included in that X Factor advert (even the 3 minute version), I don't think Diana will be back on X Factor at all. :( I really hope I'm wrong and they do involve her in some way!
August 10, 201311 yr I wish I could agree with your point about the X Factor but after 'Once' wasn't included in that X Factor advert (even the 3 minute version), I don't think Diana will be back on X Factor at all. :( I really hope I'm wrong and they do involve her in some way! True, but I don't think the advert is indicative of who's going to be on this year. Although I know for sure they will promote the heck out of One Direction and that Leona should be making at least one appearance. Hopefully you are wrong. :D
August 29, 201311 yr Author Diana will be on Daybreak tomorrow morning for an interview and a performance according to her twitter! :cheer:
August 30, 201311 yr Author Here is Diana's fantastic performance of 'Music To Make Boys Cry' on Daybreak! CCfJ1k_z3OQ For some reason it was said that the single is released on September 8th, but I don't think that is the case considering there is no single pre-order. So I'm expecting it to still be released the following Sunday along with the album.
August 31, 201311 yr Good performance! Also has anyone noticed the affected voice she used in X Factor, all the twangs, modulations, etc have gone? Her voice is more 'pure' now, which will be more endearing to the gen. music buyers, but I always liked the huskiness/ uniqueness of her voice before. My mam heard this on tv and asked if I heard it and it was 'catchy'. I said it flopped, thinking she meant Cinderella, didn't realise she had a new song out haha! But it'll most likely flop for her these days.
August 31, 201311 yr To be fair, i actually dont think Diana overly cares about where her single charts as its the album shes probably more concerned about. It was a fantastic choice to have MTMBC as the next single because it is the title track of the album so it is excellent promo! I am really shocked though that the 1D advert brought up hardly any promotion for Diana, as video views or sales havent really been affected :S
September 20, 201311 yr Author Diana has uploaded an acoustic performance of this song to her YouTube account! LgqXrJYJ49c Amazing as always!
February 14, 201411 yr Author I've just found a link to an interview from last September on Digital Spy's Eurovision forum and found this question particularly interesting: GloPop: It's also the current single, and that's a massive fan favourite already, since you teased it back in December 2011. Why did you decide to release the track as the new single? Diana Vickers: It was a decision, nobody was really sure of at first because 15000 people already owned that track as a free download, but I really wanted to shoot a video for it and have a campaign around it. I really felt that this song reflected the sound of the album. It’s very eighties, very universal and it makes you wanna dance. When I organized parties, It was the track everybody got up for, started dancing on and told me how much they loved it. I had to have it as a single really. Full interview here: http://glopopmusic.com/interviews/857-85we...wine-acting-and Interesting that she specifies that around 15,000 people downloaded Music To Make Boys Cry when it was a free download in December 2011. I assume that figure must be about right otherwise she wouldn't have mentioned it. That seems like a massive amount of downloads to me considering the only promotion it got was from Diana on social media and a few blogs so I was very pleased to read that!
