July 25, 201311 yr Don't Stop Till You Get Enough is one of the best disco songs ever, so it is great to see it this high. So happy and feel-good, had this been released by any other artist of that era I would consider it their best song, but Michael managed to beat the high standard he set himself with future releases (that are still to come in this chart!)

Before starting up the rate i envisaged that would have been a serious contender for the top spot, but it seems to have missed the top 5 thanks to a few low-to-average scores. One of those songs that went on to define the legend, following his death it became the signature song for the new generation as they downloaded it in their masses as a fitting tribute to the King of Pop. Originally released as the fourth single off Bad (and yet another US #1 smash) the single reached new peaks decades later in several countries, including the UK where it managed to chart at #2 (behind Cascada :-)). Hauntingly beautiful and with lyrics that can speak to generations across the board (from the chilling opening lines right through to that operatic conclusion), it was always destined to be huge. The song was played in the closing moments of Michael's funeral adding to its poignancy and further defining the song as an anthem for everything MJ believed it. Slightly upset it didn't make the top 5 here, it still has the power to move like no other. Shattering.
July 25, 201311 yr Author Every musician's fan after the curtain comes down DwBpB1Ok6JA | 06 // Dirty Diana // Bad // 8.64 LOVE: 11 | Rob Summers, Ken, leonardo, RabbitHeart, Jonjo, SceneofSIXCrimes 10 | randomfurlong, THEO, Liam, Mikal, Haus HATE: 05 | Cyrax, Thermometer, leww 06 | Silver Rocket, RabbitFurCoat Proving that he wasn't just the king of pop and channeling his inner rock God, Dirty Diana is a powerhouse. The hardest sound he had produced up to then (and perhaps since too), it's no wonder the song has split opinion, but it still manages to do extremely well here thanks to a flood of strong support. Another(!) #1 US Single (probably easier to just name the ones that weren't #1 off the album actually), the song was accompanied with a music video showcasing Michael performing the song live in front of a crowd and revealing its gritty nature in the process. Apparently not about Diana Ross or Princess Diana (who actually named the song as one of her absolute favourites), it's a seedy, heavy ballad that soars and crashes and incredible rates and proving once again just how bad Michael could be when he let it all out. Album chart coming up...!
July 25, 201311 yr I cried a lot when MJ died but never really associated his death with MITM even though it was played a lot then. He has more touching songs (Will You Be There, Gone Too Soon, You Are Not Alone) that move me. Edited July 25, 201311 yr by SKOB
July 25, 201311 yr LMAO I've given every song in the Top Ten a 10 or 11 so far  I'm still bitter that Cascada (of all people!) stopped MITM reaching Number One. The verses and production in Dirty Diana are so so so good but I must admit that the repetitive chorus does let it down slightly. | 08 // Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough // Off The Wall // 8.55     Best MJ song for me which I don't think I've mentioned before :)
July 25, 201311 yr Have you guys heard The Weeknd's version of Dirty Diana? If you haven't, CHECK IT OUT NOW
July 25, 201311 yr Gone before 'Smooth Criminal' and 'Black or White'. :( Everything needs to be gone before "Smooth Criminal" :smoke:

July 25, 201311 yr Dirty Diana is one of MJ's worst. Him and rock don't mix imo (having said that, I don't mind Give In To Me)
July 25, 201311 yr Have you guys heard The Weeknd's version of Dirty Diana? If you haven't, CHECK IT OUT NOW YESSSSS  Such a fine tribute. How is Black and White top five?! It's not terribly by any means, but it's in exultant company and needs to check itself.
July 26, 201311 yr Author Ultimate King of Pop Album Chart 06 // Invincible // 5.10 http://i.imgur.com/pDGBXOz.jpg Michael's final official studio album limps into bottom place here receiving a tirade of warm to bad scores and perhaps rightfully finds itself miles behind the other 5. An album that similarly to the 90's albums focuses greatly on Michael's own social problems as the media continued to gun against him and the album shows that there was some strength left in him despite the surrounding darkness. With three singles that failed to live up the success of anything that had come before, the album did go on to sell 13 million copies worldwide, but coming from the King of Pop it was ultimately deemed a commercial failure. Unfortunate because it does possess some real gems including Heaven Can Wait and Heartbreaker and it is consistently a great listen. // 05 // HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book 1 // 7.77 http://i.imgur.com/YVlyNha.jpg And working back from there, the album that preceded Invincible racks in at #5. Perhaps the most aggressive and downright angry album he recorded, most likely because it was the first one following the allegations that plagued his social life. Bookended by an almighty Scream and solemn Smile it spawned a whole heap of huge singles, including some of the biggest of his entire career. Controversial and brash this was Michael letting it all out but seems to be too much for a lot of you as you opt for his earlier material instead. Hidden highlights include History and This Time Around. // 04 // Off The Wall // 7.95 http://i.imgur.com/GMEAfFg.jpg Michael tackling the swinging 70’s with a disco-fused romp and succeeding for the most part, Off The Wall is easily his funnest record and full of genuine feel good anthems from start to end. Though perhaps not as technically on point as what was to come (the vocals aren’t as ON and the tunes tend to blend together for a fair part), it is still a sickly sweet album that set the motions turning for Michael to catapult into the hearts and minds of the world with what was to follow. It's The Falling In Love and Workin' Day and Night remain true gems.
July 26, 201311 yr Author 03 // Dangerous // 8.06 http://i.imgur.com/AyPGxld.jpg Michael's 8th studio album and the one that for me perfectly blends a whole heap of styles and musical genres, it is a triumphant and rowsing listen. Tackling themes on a global level next to songs so painfully personal, it is a bit of a mess, which perhaps explains why it wasn't ever able to overthrow the "power two", but when it is good it is pretty unbeatable. Though not my favourite album technically, it did spawn my favourite singles and so will always be a true giant of an album for me <3 And away from the singles, the title track Dangerous fiercely closes the explosive listen. // 02 // Thriller // 9.56 http://i.imgur.com/dgEk5BJ.jpg Well what to say about this that hasn't been said before. The world's biggest album and certainly the biggest success for Michael it broke records globally and set the crown firmly on the boppin' Jackson. A post-disco album as he left the dizzying sounds of Off The Wall behind to focus on an altogether more rock/pop/urban affair, it is thrilling by name and nature. Iconic music videos, fashion and sounds, there is no wonder it remains the biggest selling album of all time. And though most of the album found its way onto radios, still the non-released tracks such as Baby Be Mine could easily have fared well as Michael reached his career peak (in terms of commercial success, but obviously not in terms of fan appreciation)... // 01 // Bad // 9.64 http://i.imgur.com/RE2v65y.jpg Well there probably was never a doubt on what would be rated as the greatest album from the King of Pop, but suprisingly, it only narrowly edged to victory over the second place. With a show-stopping tracklist consisting of hit after hit, and the commercial success to back up the masterpiece (5 #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and mammoth album sales too), Bad is anything but that. Following the success of Thriller Michael said he would not stop until he created an album to better and beat his former glory, and despite not selling as much (well what has?), what he did create was his defining masterpiece; hell even haters of Michael would instantly recognise and groove along to the non-stop sounds of the album including the tracks that did not get single treatment. Everything about the album further cemented Michael into the record books and into the hall of fame. The perfect combination of critical and cultural success, Bad, as a cohesive project has yet to be beaten for me. This is the King of Pop at his most royal.
