October 13, 201311 yr 'Don't Let Me Dance Alone' would be a good choice, don't know how well that'd perform though?
April 4, 20169 yr They really made the most iconic mistake releasing Gentleman after What About Us When they had this all Along didn't they. If they had released this after What About Us I guarantee it would have been a #1 and the Album would have fared Massively better. I remember saying myself that after the success of What About Us it was a ridiculous time to experiment with Gentleman and a lot of people were like but no, now is the perfect time to experiment and it literally derailed their Career. It's always been one thing after another with these girls. Releasing the inferior single first and then releasing the amazing single Second. I really don't understand what their management thought they were doing for them during their whole Career. It's as if they wanted them to fail.
April 4, 20169 yr This wasn't recorded until after Gentleman I don't think. But they could have filled the gap with Wildfire or Not Giving Up.
April 4, 20169 yr This wasn't recorded until after Gentleman I don't think. But they could have filled the gap with Wildfire or Not Giving Up. Oh wait yeah I read that oops. I agree though they should have went with something else. Wildfire would Have probably been the perfect stand in and most probably would have given them another top 5 hit actually.
April 4, 20169 yr I understand the logic that "They just had their biggiest hit ever, it was the perfect time to build on that with another easy and obvious hit, not the time to experiment", I really do get that...but the thing is...when is the right time then to experiment, then? Is it really a great idea, after a few flops, to experiment with something different when your careers are on the line? Wouldn't that be the perfect time as well to release an obvious and easy hit, something that would get played on radios and would definitely get them a hit and then put them back on track? I just genuinely don't see when would be the "right" time to release something like 'Gentleman'. Maybe there just isn't. Afterall, it is a gamble. The interesting with 'Gentleman' was that, despite the fact it was hated by most of the fans, it was pretty much the first time the people that would always came for them were saying "... Well, that has personality. That's a nice change from them. Remind me of "[insert Great Girlgroup here]". Clearly, that didn't extend to the general public for some reason, but it was still really intriguing...
April 4, 20169 yr It's okay to gamble. But Gentleman just wasn't a good gamble. Something like Notorious, I see as a gamble that seldom paid off. Gentleman was just never going to be a hit, and management must feel like fools now looking back on it.
April 4, 20169 yr I think it's OK to gamble when you've just had a string of hits, not when you've had one and the previous two singles flopped. The single after What About Us should've been just like it. Wildfire, Disco Love, and Not Giving Up were close enough. Sure, they might've caught flack for using the same formula, but it would've at least guaranteed another hit and more interest in the album as well as more loyal listeners. You can't hop all over the place in terms of sound and expect people to latch on.
April 5, 20169 yr That too. The Saturdays were rarely in a place to gamble, as they never really had two big hits in a row (other than the first era when they were establishing themselves)
April 5, 20169 yr agreed. If they had gotten the second era done properly, instead of messing it up, they could have been in the position to take a gamble further down the line. But the series of mess ups they made, meant they really weren't in a strong enough position to gamble with Gentleman
