The success of the song doesn't make sense, though.

You said yourself that "you had a feeling". Not even stats, facts, or anything. Just "a feeling".

I just fail to understand how a song that is not even officially top 40 on radio airplay yet and not even top 20 on TV can be such a steady #5 on iTunes. It didn't even do that well on preorders. Obviously, I'm so happy and delighted, but I really don't understand. Sure the promo is good, but that doesn't explain why it's steady.

At the end of the day, I don't care why it's a success, I'm just so freaking happy that it is and I can only hope the album is gonna do just as well. Bring Not Giving Up now.

Same. I find it's success absolutely baffling, but I love it. :D

It wasn't doing great on YouTube (it took like a month to get a million views), airplay was shit, they were dropping from a #22 peak on TV and there was just no buzz around it at all. The video and song aren't even anywhere near the best they've done either, and they're coming off the back of a massive flop in 'Gentleman' plus they're up against huge artists this week and yet it's now Wednesday and they're CLIMBING to #4?! :o

How?! The song must just be appealing to alot of people. I actually thought it was too cheesy and girly (especially the "baby baby baby, boy you make me feel so fine" parts) but after listening to it full blast I realised that the chorus is just far too catchy. It's massive! For some reason it's clicking with people and I find it hilarious how radio are suddenly getting on board with it now because it's top 5 on iTunes. They're so slow at recognizing a hit.

Oh well. Let's hope it stays top ten for a while and ensures the album gets a good peak next week.

Back on more savoury ground...interview and performance from today's This Morning:

Another good performance! I wish Mollie actually sang her "Ay Ay Ay" during the chorus for live performances though. This week actually felt like a proper release week, they've been everywhere.
I think thats the best interview they've ever done :D

What's everyone thinking this will do, sales wise in it's first week?

Rounded these all obviously, I'm thinking it might just do over 50k and possibly under Missing You on that list above! It is crazy to think that, Gentleman with a peak of 14 sold 15,000 more than If This Is Love did at 8! The difference between 2008 and 2013 I guess. :P

My guess prior to release was 52K but now I see this doing anywhere between 50K and 70K. My guess would be right in the middle at 60K.

EDIT: I read on PopJustice that Wrecking Ball sold 62K through Tuesday, so if that's the case then the girls have sold somewhere around 32k so far (they've averaged 52% of Miley's sales). Amazing!

Still #4 today, with a little over 36k. Physicals are just under 1.1k.

OneRepublic will inevitably overtake, but #5 is the lowest that Disco Love is likely to place come Sunday!

Eek, I thought they sucked out all the fun and soul out of 'On The Radio' with an incredibly bland reinterpretation. Martine's version blows it out of the water! :drama: They've not done it justice, not to these ears anyway.

I wasn't previously familiar with 'Love Come Down', so that's essentially a new track for me.

J-Lo's version remain the best cover of On The Radio :smoke:

I'd also never really been aware of Love Come Down, but I liked it alot more than OTR.

Did ReGina just step into The Saturdays forum? :hi:
If this manages to stick around for a while this might do pretty well! Unexpected to say the least. Radio support seems to be picking up, the success of this is baffling though! Not because of the quality of the song, because of the hype. It has barely decreased on iTunes compared to every other single they have had, bar WAU. I mean compare it to the push Missing You got and it still started to drop midweek on iTunes.
#9 debut in Ireland! Very good result there I would say! :cheer:
