Geri too low! :( She is such an ICON. Those Melanie songs are shit and boring!

Never Be The Same Again to win! I love the two Emma singles too. When Youre Gone and I Turn To You are way overrated.

OH JACKORY. Your post and opinions couldn't be MORE wrong if you'd tried. :( Geri IS an icon to all girls on how NOT to act/be in general. Those Melanie songs are magnificent <3 and 'When You're Gone' and 'I Turn To You' are stone cold CLASSICS and ANTHEMS. :(

Oh and sorry if the results are going a bit too fast for you guys, I'm just looking forward to starting the ULTIMATE SPICE GIRLS RATE <3

Your shade towards Geri & her songs throughout this thread is hurting me a bit! [Fun fact: 'Ride It' started out as high as midweek #2!]

By the way, 'First Day Of My Life' wasn't released in the UK as a single (therefore it couldn't chart). It was kind of bizarre that she decided not to push it here, considering how amazingly well it performed throughout Europe. She pretty much abandoned the UK for a couple of years, in favour of promoting in other territories. It eventually cropped up as a B Side on the UK formats of 'Carolyna'.

;__; Think About It deserved to smash and so did the album.

Enemy >>>>> every other solo Spice song.

Next Best Superstar :( Probably my favourite solo Spice Girls song! So damn low.

I agree

I can't believe the bland Think About It has beaten songs with such personality.

Personally I'd like Maybe to win now, if not, NBTSA

!! 'Think About It' was her best single in years! :o Fantastic song. Bland is the likes of 'Better Alone' and 'The Moment You Believe'.

Hmm now you've put it that way, true ^_^

Agreed! I think the only other song of hers I prefer to it is "Never Be The Same Again". (which I'm glad to see in the top 5) "When You're Gone" is better too, but I don't really count that and "I Know Him So Well" and "Reason" come close. It's so anthemic and, as Jonjo said, contemporary - wish it did better.

"The Sea" is definitely the best solo Spice album, I was so impressed by how interesting it was compared to the rest of her music. I have no idea why she followed it with "Stages", her worst album. (though totally worth it for new Emma vocals on "I Know Him So Well" and "Both Sides Now" is pretty good too.)

The only song I wouldn't want to win from the top 5 is "I Turn To You", I think the other 4 would be in my top 5 too. "Never Be The Same Again" is my ideal winner though.

I don't remember ever seeing the video for Let Your Head Go before, and it is actually amazing.

Starting the top 5 for us we have Mel C's first venture out as a solo artist and it easily, the biggest selling single by any solo Spice Girl, despite only peaking at number 3! It spent 15 weeks inside the top 40 and apparently, it spent 9 weeks of those inside the top 10. Massive, MASSIVE hit back then. It was (and still is on some stations) a radio staple. It's a classic and nobody can deny it. It's infectious, catchy and just so damn good. Even though all Mel does is harmonise, she delivers! The video is really cool too! I think this is due to be one of those random 59p boosts on iTunes soon. I don't know why, I just get the feeling <3

At number 4 is another solo Spice song which never seemed to be off of radio during the period it was released, this time courtesy of Baby spice, Emma Bunton. Again as with 'When You're Gone', you can easily see why it was a radio staple. It was inoffensive, MOR pop at it's ultimate. It did very, VERY well for her. It spent 2 weeks at number 1 (joint with Geri's 'It's Raining Men' as the longest consecutive time spent at number 1 for a solo spice) and managed to get about 12 weeks overall in the top 75. It was very of the time and I don't think it'd do so well now, but I think a couple of stations still play this a couple of times a week, but in all honesty without this rate, I don't think I'd heard it for a VERY long time (but I could remember it very well). HIT.

I think its obvious NBTSA will win, even though its a bit overrated. I'm rooting for I Turn To You.

I agree with you, When You're Gone is probably the most well remembered by the general public, I still hear it often and VH1 still bums it to death. It's nice but not her best.

So as we reach the top 3 (will be revealed tonight after I finish work) I'm going to post a song which REALLY should have been released and included in this countdown. It's legitimately my favourite Solo Spice track now. <3

Oh and at this point, I'm definitely routing for a 'I Turn To You' win <3

"What Took You So Long?" is SO good! Definitely the best thing Emma has ever released, all of her other singles are shit.

What did I give my 11 to (if I did give one)? As long as either of the remaining Mel C songs win, I'll be happy :D

What Took You So Long, was one of the biggest radio hits of the year it was released if I remember correctly.

So there we have it. A Melanie C top 2! The winner will be announced shortly, but in the meantime, Emma Bunton's second single from her second album, 'Free Me' finishes in third place. It missed the top 5 by a whisker and peaked at number 6 and spent 6 weeks inside the top 40, like the song before it in the countdown, it was another radio smash for Emma. I seem to recall it being absolutely everywhere. I was sick of it. It did nothing for me at the time and it wasn't until recently until I learnt to tolerate it. The video (and song to some extent) sort of weirdly reminds me of Girls Aloud's 'Biology' (I know it came a couple of years before, but still!). Also, I am going to say that it wasn't Duffy, Amy Winehouse or Adull that kick started the "retro revival", but Emma Bunton definitely started something with it. Ahead of her time, maybe?
