I wonder what the 3 people who voted 'don't bother with any of them' are doing here in the first place.....
Oh my gosh the bolded bit was so me like about 4 years ago when I was about 12, it was like my dream job  I've been obsessed with the charts since about early 2008 when I was 10 (going on 11) I think :P The first chart I remember hearing was Duffy at #1 with Mercy and I followed ever since! My parents couldn't mention a recent song without me spouting chart trivia.

Haha!! I did the same, I had a note book where I wrote down all the facts like how many top 40 hits the artist had, what the album was called and anything else I thought would make me 'sound' all up to date with my chart trivia!!

I think my mum was glad when I discovered girls

that would be the best job in the world and if radio 1 ever need a replacement, you know where to find me!!!!

This poll does rather beg the question of the three who marked 'none of them' as to why join a Charts forum in the first place, then... :P

Because this website is more than just a chart forum? (Although why BuzzJack posters who don't care about the charts are wandering into the UK Chart Forum in particular is more of a pertinent question).

I agree with the people who preferred the chart when Bruno and Mark were doing it. The Top 40 has never had a worse presenter than it has now (and yes, I include Reggie Yeates) Jameela Jahmil is terrible, cares nothing about the charts and links records as if she has just discovered the English language for the first time!

Even when those idiots Dan and Phil read out the album chart, they attempt to include some interesting chart trivia-but ruin it with a pointless visual gag-and don't get me started on the stupid 'Take Three' rubbish.

I love the charts and have followed them since 1980-and still write them down-but it is becoming a huge chore when i have to listen to so much banal rubbish from that terrible woman. Why on Earth didn't they give the show to Scott Mills or Greg James??? I know this is an old topic, but I'm coming to the end of my tether and may have to copy the charts out from Buzzjack during the chart commentary!!!

I would argue its the fault of those in charge of radio 1/BBC Trust rather than JJ, she produces a show that appeals to a younger audience and so they talk like its full of 12 year old listening to the top 40 (which alot of them prob are) when alot listen for the historic significance of the rundown and are older listeners in general!

Maybe because they are better presenters than Jameela, and radio 1 would prefer to give them the weekday afternoon slots when more people are listening :P
I didn't realise the big top 40 stopped using airplay on their chart. So now it's basically the iTunes top 40, which is better than what they had before, but still not as good as the official chart based on a whole week's sales tho.

It is based on the full weeks iTunes sales (Sun to Sat) twixt 4 & 6.15pm , although it starts with the top 10. Then you either switch off or listen to the current iTunes Top 10 (but then you already know what it's gonna look like!) Of course if you've got Sky, then you've got Capital TV in the music channels section & they do the whole top 40 on Saturdays.

Last week's chart: (with the 6.15 top 10 changes in brackets)

01 01 Avicii (1)

02 03 John Newman (2)

03 ne One Direction (4)

04 02 Robin Thicke (single version) (3)

05 04 Icona Pop (7)

06 07 Naughty Boy (8)

07 10 Passenger (5)

So they nplay a sales chart until no11 then the top 10 is what happens to be in the itunes top 10 on sunday at that time? That seems random!

No. They start with the Top 10 of the week on iTunes (to beat Radio 1 with the top 10) & then kid you into a lie that you can help, change the top 10 by buying something from iTunes. They then play 40 to 11 & replay the current top 10, as it stands on itunes, saying you've helped change the top 10 around...but you haven't really, as it's only the top 10 at that moment. It's done to be ahead of Radio One in a nod to the Network Chart, but it doesn't quite cut it, as it's seriously flawed.

They did it for a laugh most likely.
