I must be mad or something because I didn't have to be up till half 7 today and I went and downloaded my Amazon pre-order whilst lying in bed. And WOW. I didn't know if it was gonna be possible to top 'Right Place Right Time' but my God he's done it!

The production, his vocals, everything has stepped up a gear and I just know some of these songs are gonna sound f***ing brilliant on tour next year - which reminds me. He's announcing European dates this week!

Impossible to call a definite top 5 from the album at this stage but at the moment for me it has to be:

1. Did You Miss Me?

2. Beautiful to Me

3. Seasons

4. Can't Say No

5. Let Me In

I'm beyond proud of him, I really am. Boy done good! :yahoo:

I made a big deal about the bonus songs not being on the album but the deluxe version is the one selling at number one (if you disregard NOW) on Itunes so it's not really that big an issue. Reviewers probably review the normal version though which is a shame.
Could anyone please be a dear and tell me which songs are the ballads so I can Youtube/Spotify them?
Ok then my analysis of Never Been Better:

Did you miss me? Such a blatant rip of recent popular songs, with the trumpet riff he does this too much, just points at songs in the charts & says "I want that that one". Glad it wasn't the first single as he should be aiming for originality.

Wrapped up Bored of it

Beautiful to me : Love this song.

Up Radio friendly unit shifter. Great song. Olly has been saying for a while that he'd like a duet song & he's nailed it with this one.

Seasons lol he sounds like he's from Jamaica in this, I like it though.

Nothing without you: filler

Never been better Really good this one.

Hope you got what you came for filler

Why do I love you? pretty good dance song

Stick with me Olly is obviously a big fan of 'Wake me up', decent song, sounds a bit Eurvisiony somehow, don't like it when he tries copying others though.

Can't say no The music is good but I don't like this much, doesn't really fit with him, I'd be surprised if he had much input into the writing of this one.

Tomorrow Good song.

Let me in 2nd ballad in a row, I really like this one. I was gonna say Tomorrow was his best ballad to date but I'd actually say this is. You can tell that Paul Weller wrote this one.

bonus tracks...

We still love Absolute tune. Monster chorus. Shoulda been the first single. Bizarre that it's just a bonus track.

Us against the world well crafted song, had me bopping my head.

Ready for love Another big pop song. Again, why is this just a bonus song?

History like this one

Clearly the bonus songs that didn't make it were ones he was hardly involved in writing otherwise they'd have been shoe ins for the album proper. Hope you got what you came for & Nothing without you should have been replaced by We still love & Ready for love. He relegated some good songs to the bench on his last album as well, pretty annoying. Really good album if you get the deluxe version which is definitely the one I'll be going for.

Thanks for your honest review. It fits with the press reviews I've read that the album has quite a few fillers with some very good tracks. It's mostly been given between 2 and 3 * and thought to be not as strong as his previous album. Maybe he'd better writing a cohesive album rather than trying to cover all fanbases. Having said that I'm sure his main motivation is shifting units and it will undoubtedly sell well.

Olly Murs >>> Never Been Better >>>> Right Place, Right Time >>>>>>> In Case You Didn't Know

I'm in love with this album!

In my opinion it's his best one so far!

I can't even choose a favourite song because they are all so good! :D

I'm not sure if this is better than ICYDK but it's probably second for me :o
Seeing as ICYDK is by far his worst album, I'd say that this one is better.

This album is brilliant. The way he progresses as an artist is great to see. Nothing seems "try hard" or a copy cat of anything, there are obvious inspirations on various tracks, but he's managed to make the best of them and actually make them sound good. 'Did You Miss Me' for example could easily have been a "demo-lite" non-song like 'Crazy Stupid Love', but it's not.

Fairly confident DYMM? will be a big hit when/if it's released.

Listening to this now, pretty solid, but is Did You Miss Me? an ode to one of the best South Park cast members?

The title track is Google Play's free track of the week! I don't need it as I've got the album but everyone should own at least one song :kink:

In that case they should shell out 99p and download We Still Love.

25,000 copies ahead of 1D in the midweek update!

Fairly confident that it'll stay at number 1 for Sunday :D :cheer:

3rd number album of his career, great stuff. Woulda been 4 if Take That hadn't reformed, their album at the time was an all conquering juggernaut.
In the latest update today Olly still has held onto that 25,000 lead at number 1.

Nobody would have been TT's album then. Just glad 'Olly Murs' managed to get to #2

Never been better is a brilliant album. Deserves to be #1 on Sunday! And I'm sure it will be  :cheer:
