The sledgehammer/wrecking ball sections clearly represent the part of the relationship she's singing about (being in love, etc.) in flashback form so licking the hammer is not so random or out of place. It's symbolic of her attitude prior to the relationship going bad. Then she sings in front of the white background in the "present" ie. she's no longer molesting the hammer because it's all over and she's really sad etc. Quite simple guys!

 

And yes it's an awesome video. Even if it is by Terry Richardson.

i don't think i'd be bothered with her sexualising every part of her career if she had any sexual charisma to begin with. that's my problem. no sex appeal whatsoever. every time she does anything sexually suggestive it just looks awkward as if she isn't in control of her own body! the reason she was even remotely appealing before was she had that cute girl-next-door look / attitude.

and i know people are like 'omg she's getting so much exposure tho so LOL at you she's playing all of you!!1' i don't think she is 'playing me'. i just think she's terrible and that her company have thrown the sexual awakening / rebellion act on the wrong girl. she just can't pull it off. i wouldn't be proud to have built my career on negative attention. no-one buys a record because they think it's crap / the video is crap / the person is embarrassing... do they?

I think it definetly helps her exposure. I would prefer popstars to have some personality unlike boring people like ... Leona Lewis off the top of my head. The music is fantastic, and I think she is just fascinating to watch really.
