5 15 2011 Rihanna (feat. Calvin Harris) - We Found Love 384 (15 - 5)

Rihanna's highest song by a long way advances 10 places up the board, aside from the two new entries, the only new face in the top ten this time round. It does feel to me a little new to be declared Rihanna's best song but it is the perfect club song, with Rihanna's warbling that I've grown to adore whatever she's singing about whenever, and Calvin Harris' production to aid it on the club side of things. Unsurprisingly then, it attracted votes from all over the shop, and while this does mean Rihanna loses to Britney and Gaga this time, she can come back stronger I'm sure, with another album's worth of songs to do battle with.

Unless she doesn't release this year. Anyway, I'm sure Stay can challenge... something.

We Found Love definitely feels like a song that I should hate from the amount of exposure and how much radio hammers it, but it really doesnt get old at all! Such a glorious song, always puts me in a good mood too!
'Mr Brightside' is still an excellent song but I have to say it it has finally begun to grate, although less so in the last year or two as I no longer go to places that play it so often. Decent top ten so far, usual suspects but nice to see Robyn still there. I'm surprised at how little I've tired of 'We Found Love', it's never got boring for me.

I do really like 'Mr. Brightside'... but I also prefer the surrounding four songs on Hot Fuss to it and it's not as if the whole album is held up as the classic it is.

'We Found Love' has probably become my favourite 'superstar Rihanna' single (the best of her singles being of course 'Pon de Replay'. Heard it out last night. JAM.)

4 NE 2012 Loreen - Euphoria 413 (4)

So Euphoria comes short of winning, well short actually. Probably for the best, it is one of the best songs in the top 10 but it really is a little too soon (and more than a bit tinted-loon-glasses worthy) to be declaring it the best song of the last 10 years. 4th best is perfectly fine. Still, hopefully this'll open up the floodgates for more Eurovision songs to do well here annually, there's really no rule against them being entered and doing well should one choose (*everyone rushes to nominate What About My Dreams*) and we could use a few of them in and around the results sparingly. Of course, Euphoria's become more than just a Eurovision song, it's a legitimate hit in its own right outside of the contest and can be used in a non-Eurovision context, like in a gay club (not speaking from experience) or at a guilty pleasures night (speaking from experience). It is the song that unites pop fans and alienates plenty of those outside of that spectrum so it was never gonna win here. Still, it's our highest new entry. Well done, Loreen (you have no idea how hard it was to not type 'qu' in there)

Can't believe Euphoria is genuinely this high. Me and Jonjo were sort of half joking when it popped up in MF and we said it would storm that, storm Eurovision and smash into the UK top three, but it all actually happened. And now it's a Buzzjack classic too

We Found Love is amazing, almost neck and neck with What's My Name as my favourite Rihanna single but that just edges it out. The moment it all clicked properly for me was her X Factor performance of it, SO much energy.

Euphoria is stunning, but I cant help but think that if it wasnt for Eurovision that it wouldnt be QUITE as loved on here. I do love it though, just not as much as some others do.

Toxic has to win now please .

3 4 2004 Britney Spears - Toxic 465 (6 - 6 - 1 - 4 - 8 - 9 - 4 - 3)

The opening notes give away what a perfect song this is. From start to finish, my mind is completely captivated. There's a reason Toxic has stayed in the top 10 all this time, it's a pop song but it's not particularly dislikeable and if you're in any way into the kind of thing it offers, it's mind-blowing. Very narrowly behind Euphoria for the best song in the top 5 (for myself, obviously), and my favourite Britney song by a long way. Ever since it won back on this competition's third edition, with the late 90s anthems that had dominated the first few of the way for it to take the victory before more consistent winners came along in the form of Bleeding Love and Bad Romance, it's been struggling to get back into the top 3, but this year, it has, the closest it's come to winning since then.

Maybe next year it'll take it's last chance and defeat Bad Romance or With Every Heartbeat in a final blaze of glory, but not this time. Robyn vs Lady Gaga as everyone expected, who will it be?

Everytime should be in its position tbh.

Toxic  The only song in the Top 10 that is probably in my Top 10 of all time as well! Never ever gets old for me.

I guess I want Bad Romance to win, but really I am not HUUUGE on either. They both havent aged that well imo and they both have better in their back catalogues.

Edited by Jack

Oh 'Toxic' has saved the top 3 from consisting entirely of overrated. Hooray!

Jack & Bré in agreeance shocker! :o

Bad Romance and With Every Heartbeat are an exceptional Top 2 but I do wish that the Final 2 would be less predictable.

Consensus generally is.

They're both very good songs, not necessarily in my top ten, but it's a very strong top end. I'm glad 'Euphoria' didn't win - for one thing, it's far too early, and for another, I'm off it at the moment. 'My Heart Is Refusing Me' is far superior anyway but I'll probably always be alone on that one.

2 1 2007 Robyn & Kleerup - With Every Heartbeat 530 (33 - 125 - 7 - 2 - 1 - 2)

And last year's winner goes back to #2, (you know what, we've had the same top two for the past three years, shake up a little, guys?) as Bad Romance leaves it in the dirt this time around. It is a great song, Robyn's best song, and one that it is quite heartening to see Buzzjack take to, were it being loved on wasn't well-known I'd find this utterly charming as it's probably been all but forgotten out in the real world, and we should definitely thank it for stopping Gaga have 4 straight years at #1 with BR which might be too much even for the most hardened Gaga loon. Robyn's voice is really quite unique, she's not a big star but we love her as Buzzjack's own little popstar that we'll seemingly defend to the death. Proving once and for all that Scandipop is the best in the business, I give you this year's runner-up, With Every Heartbeat.

1 2 2009 Lady Gaga - Bad Romance 597 (1 - 1 - 2 - 1)

They really do look quite similar in those photos do they. We have a LOOK as well. After a while it was rather obvious that this was going to win, 39 out of the 54 votes chose to vote for it, that's almost three-quarters of us picking one song in a 60 song final so the victory is not without merit. Given that it's never been out of the top two one wonders if our devotion to this all conquering pop song will ever tire in the years ahead. I don't deny that it's an incredibly strong pop song but having it not only be the first double victor of this game but the first triple victor is a LITTLE much. We're clearly going to need years where Gaga doesn't release to crown a different victor from the way this is looking.

But all subjectivity aside, well done to Lady Gaga again, well done for claiming your crown back and so here endeth 2013's Record Of The Decade. Thank you everyone for voting, commenting and helping to make it a success once again, I enjoyed running it and it doesn't now seem quite the mammoth task it seemed at the beginning of the summer. FINI. :D

I can't argue with that top two, both amongst my all time favourites although Bad Romance is higher so I welcome it as a winner.
A bit of a blegh top two. I really like "Bad Romance" but it's just so overrated. I'm glad "With Every Heartbeat" wasn't even close though, I'll never get the love for that. As for "Dancing On My Own", it's not even the best 2010 Robyn song ("Call Your Girlfriend" and "Hang With Me"!!!) A nice surprise seeing "Toxic" back in the top three, hopefully "We Found Love" will jump up next year as well and I imagine "Euphoria" will as well. Overall I far prefer the 20-11 section, which is a shame.
