That slow song is basically "Wild horses" by Natasha Bedingfield part. 2 ! Not that anyone will know that song anyway.

I know it and I still love it!

I MISSED THIS???

Was it a hot mess or great?

LISTEN to all the songs & Watch the Videos Lady Gaga performed at the iTunes Festival HERE

I enjoyed this gig but it wasn't flawless and the reaction elsewhere has been really quite terrible. The new songs (the ones played tonight anyway) will not smash at radio or cross over with casual fans. She is headed into fanbase artist territory at lightning speed. That said I did really enjoy the music (bar that awful ballad) and anticipate the album, but I no longer expect it to match "Born This Way".

I still stand by what I said in another thread... In 5/10 years time

I can honestly see her just performing in and selling out 3,000 seater venues in Las Vegas, staring in her own divas drag night show.

Ok, can't believe I'm saying this but ...

WHY WASN'T SWINE THE FIRST SINGLE???

Sex Dreams has an amazing chorus, and if it had improved verses + she released that, it would have worked wonders.

ARTPOP/ Manicure awful. Burqa's great. Haven't listened to the others yet.

I just don't get how all these completely different songs constitute the same album though?

Where is this Wild Horses cover? I hear no ballad.

How i would rank from tonight:

1. Sex Dreams

2. Aura

3. Manicure

4. Swine

5. ARTPOP

6. Jewels & Drugs (feat. T.I., Twista & Too $hort)

7. I Wanna Be With You

The songs were packed with melody and hooks to my ears! I hope she doesn't deteriorate into fanbase act territory in the next few years because she deserves so much more than that. Obviously artists like Katy and Rihanna will have more mass appeal as they release uncomplicated music for the most part, but it's a shame that much of the public that seemed to take so well to this eccentricity four years ago have abandoned her. To me these songs for the most part sounded incredible and more importantly exciting, in a world of catchy but ultimately hollow pop music.

Didn't everyone say Madonna was a huge flop, she went away like she was retiring ... and then came back with Ray of Light?

Great songs:

1. Sex Dreams

2. Aura

3. Swine

4. Applause

5. I Wanna Be With You

Not a fan:

Manicure

Jewels & Drugs

ARTPOP

8. Jewels & Drugs

I have no time for ARTPOP, it's down there with Cake in terms of her songs.

Now if she just improves the verses of Sex Dreams, she could have a Sexyback on her hands!

I would recommend that she starts getting co-writers for her songs though to make them more consistent/ engaging for the gen. public.

'Sex Dreams' sounds so brilliant! She has me back on board with that, also 'Manicure' and 'Swine'.

'Applause' is SO mediocre compared to these.

It's a shame about the lyrics to Burqa/Aura bc that production is wild
It's a shame about the lyrics to Burqa/Aura bc that production is wild

This is why I think she needs a co-writer.

Imagine an improved Sex Dreams!

Swine is probably the best production/ lyric wise, Sex Dreams is SO CLOSE to being amazing. It's just those poor verses.

I have to disagree with Josh and Jark's notions that Gaga is becoming a fanbase-only act, that drag queen Las Vegas show prediction is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Many people who are outside of the fanbase on the forum and that I personally know thought 'Applause' was mediocre to begin with and now love the song, so in other words it is not an instant song and it is not up there with the rest of her instant classics ('Poker Face', 'Bad Romance' etc) outside the fanbase.

YET it is rebounding on the charts all over the world three weeks (almost a month) into its OA/OS release which says A LOT. If a song like 'Applause' can do this well for her, songs like 'Swine' and 'Sex Dreams' can be huge. Radio and the general public are still extremely on-board with her, there's MASSIVE media hype behind almost every form of movement she does. She is still very much a huge a pop star, just because 'Applause' is not #1 in the UK and the US doesn't necessarily mean she's a fanbase only artist. If she was, 'Applause' would be out of the top 10 long ago.

People are indeed REALLY overdoing the whole 'flop' thing with "Applause". I also love how selling out concerts is being seen as a sort of insignificance.
Hmm well just wait and see then. You absolutely cannot deny however that her popularity is declining with each era!

Oh my gosh I actually LOVED the songs, especially MANiCURE and Swine from the new ones

Her popularity is most definitely in decline it would be foolish to ignore that, but given how popular she was at her peak it's not a tragic state she's in now by any means. Her fanbase is still just as dedicated if not MORESO (getting the song #1 pretty much everywhere when it was out), and there's still a lot of interest in her given how the album is doing on preorders and how well she's doing on streaming globally. This era is super important for her to win back the fans that were lost from Born This Way and so far it seems to be going well for her, with Applause rebounding and remaining stable which shows that it's reaching out to people that initially weren't interested. Obviously tonight's performance wasn't going to get mass love given its nature, but the songs have shown promise that they could deliver which is the most important thing.

From tonight's performances:

1. Swine

2. Sex Dreams

3. Aura

4. Jewels & Drugs

5. MANiCURE

6. I Wanna Be With You

7. ARTPOP

(but Aura is already a proven TEN/TEN)

It's just disappointing bc I feel like she's never really quite left the Paparazzi/Bad Romance/Telephone-era. Those were all amazing songs and videos and deserved success but to stay relevant you need to switch things up. Look at Madonna, the first 3 records were pretty similar sonically but from Like a Prayer on each album was totally different (both a reflection of the times but also pushing new ideas forward). Even someone like Cher, who has basically kept coming back with hits up until 2000 - her image and sound changed.

I'm just bored tbh! The songs sound the same, the image is the same, the idea is the same, and I feel like the public has honestly moved on. Those clips sound fine/catchy but that's all.

Sex Dreams is completely different sonically to anything she's ever done though?

Agreed with Haus that ARTPOP was the worst.

Applause is having a lot of longevity, so I'm hoping when she puts out a more instant song she'll have more success from it working as a platform.
