Far too much indie so far.

I do agree it's really quite Indie-centric still. However, I don't want to be too harsh on it as I know it can be a fairly subjective issue. After all My Chemical Romance are to my mind a Rock group but given the number of times they've been bottled at Rock festivals not everyone would agree.

I'd prefer to leave it to a group consensus as I'd rather not be too dictatorial and I have to confess I don't know every tune (particularly from Harve).

On to my list then.

I have to say these aren't necessarily my favourites but who wants a list of obscure Killing Joke albums tracks etc. So I've cobbled together a list of tracks regareded as standards or classics from the fileds of Punk, Metal and Rock. Since some of my originla list have already been listed I had to drop a few and find replacements

01 Motorhead – Ace Of Spades

02 Sex Pistols – God Save The Queen

03 Led Zeppelin – Rock n Roll

04 Metallica – Enter Sandman

05 AC/DC – You Shook Me All Night Long

06 Guns N Roses – Welcome To The Jungle

07 The Clash – London Calling

08 Deep Purple – Smoke On The Water

09 Black Sabbath – Paranoid

10 Green Day – Basket Case

11 Bruce Springsteen – Born To Run

12 Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast

13 Faith No More – Epic

14 Ramones – Blitzkrieg Bop

15 Foo fighters – One By One

16 Jane’s Addiction – Been Caught Stealing

17 Slayer – Raining Blood

18 Pearl jam – Jeremy

19 Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun

20 Smashing Pumpkins – Bullet With Butterfly Wings

21 Nine Inch Nails – Head Like A Hole

22 Slipknot – Left Behind

23 Manic Street Preachers – Motorcycle Emptiness

24 Killing Joke - Eighties

25 The Who – Won’t Get Fooled Again

26 Blue oyster Cult – Don’t Fear The reaper

29 The Clash – Should I Stay Or Should I Go?

30 Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant

31 L7 – Pretend We’re Dead

32 Free – All Right Now

33 Dead Kennedys – Holiday In Cambodia

34 Siouxsie And The Banshees – Hong Kong Garden

35 The Stranglers – No more heroes

36 The Stooges – Search And Destroy

37 MC5 – Kick Out The Jams

38 The Undertones – Teenage Kicks

39 The Cult – She Sells Sanctuary

40 Pantera - Walk

Someone's gonna have to sound harsh and since that's usually my job I'll start. :D

I wouldn't see very many Oasis songs as being rock and very few Beatles songs either. As much as I love the 90s Manics I wouldn't class If You Tolerate This as a rock song. I guess the guitars have to be fairly loud and abrasive for me to deem something as rock. I'm not even sure if my Placebo nominations should be included, now.

Just because a band is a rock band, it doesn't mean everything they release is a rock song.

Definately agree about The Beatles. Always more Pop group to me. Oasis are on that fine line - Rock N Roll Star = probably, Wonderwall = no.

Manics I've always considered a Rock group that diversify so I'm not to bothered but I do agree with your point so can happily drop it.

Placebo... are ok in my book. More Rock than Indie to me.

You can discount any of my votes that you think may be 'indie', I do agree Oasis are probably more towards 'indie' and I only included If You Tolerate This because you said you were allowing Manics songs. I do think the majority fit into the category though, at least my perception of it.

Feel free to do the same with my votes. I know "Good Riddance" for example may not really belong, I won't mind if anything is removed. Hopefully we're doing this for fun and not taking it too seriously. B-)

Sorry chez. I didn't mean to pick on you in particular. :(

Ah bollocks, I forgot about Guano Apes and Apocalyptica! I don't think I can get rid of any of my 40, so hopefully the former can wiggle into the final list somehow.

Probably the last person that should be doing this but i felt the need to nominate/back up some of my real favourites that could fall under "rock" so hope this short list is ok:

Led Zeppellin - Stairway To Heaven

Led Zeppellin - Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You

Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love

Led Zeppellin - Kashmir

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge

Linkin Park - Numb

Queen - Who Wants to Live Forever

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2

30 Seconds To Mars - Closer to the Edge

The Beatles - Let It Be

The Beatles - Hey Jude

Aerosmith - I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing

The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army

Apologies for it being so basic/limited.

Electric Six - Danger! High Voltage

Judging you forever. :(

Really surprised to see this as rock song? :o

Obviously Severin will have to decide but I'd say it's more rock than anything else.
