I dont think On A Night Like This was robbed, it is a great Kylie single, i understand many of her hardcore fans adore it but i sometimes feel it is over- rated. It is a cover version at the end of the day and outside Australia it didnt sell in any great amounts and had a poor UK chart run. I know the charts dont define what is good and what is not but i feel outside her fan-base if a random person was asked to name a Kylie song On A Night Like This would not get many mentions.

 

It's no great shakes IMO, not a bad song, but sounds waaay too much like the sort of song Cher would've released at the time. :puke2:

Well, y'know your personal dislike of it is one thing, but it's a pretty well beloved single in her back catologue. I have NEVER experienced a reaction at any of the many concerts I have been to like I did at X2008 when she performed it.

 

I was there... I think I slipped out the get a drink! The song is loud and in your face.... but IMO, it's brash and odious. Aside from "Light Years" itself, the entire Light Years album is mostly woeful.

Well you are of course entitled to that view but I think Light Years is one of her very best albums, indeed her best post 2000 album at any rate. It has a couple of dodgy moments (Kookachoo, Loveboat) but overall I think it pretty much defines Kylie musically for the last decade, for better or worse. Your Disco Needs You is so amazing for the very reason that it's so ludicrously camp and brash and in your face, THAT is how you do a gay anthem. Unashamed and just no holds barred FUN.
