August 28, 201313 yr I'm pretty sure 'You and I' was A-listed, and for an annoyingly long time at that. Still, a -B-B-B progression is curious - I can't think of a single song that has had a run like that before now. I can only imagine they're unsure as to whether or not their listeners are taking to it, which I guess is understandable. Maybe next week. A '-B-B-B' progression isn't that curious really. There are other songs that went straight to B-list and stayed there for 3 weeks before moving up to the A-list, e.g. * David Guetta 'She Wolf' * Jessie J 'Wild' * Fall Out Boy 'My Songs Know...' * Paramore 'Now' But then there are also songs which went straight to B-list but stayed there for 5-6 weeks before being dropped, e.g. * Gabrielle Aplin 'The Power Of Love' * Emeli Sande 'Clown' * Kanye West 'Clique' * Justin Timberlake 'Suit & Tie' Personally I think Applause will follow the first pattern and go to A-list next week. No more no less Jennifer Lopez went straight into a B-List with 'I'm Into You' but then didn't go any higher. That's her last playlisting too.
August 28, 201313 yr Bound 2 YES   Sad to see Adorn dropped but expected after the Jessie version failed to make too much of an impact.
August 29, 201313 yr Also still no Macklemore despite it bring top 20 on iTunes? I really don't understand why this isn't being playlisted.

August 29, 201313 yr I don't understand why Gaga went directly to B List but they aren't moving her up. If they have decided she is not relevant why put her straight on the B list. It's back in the iTunes top 5 now so it's not like its tanking. They've always A-listed her, and she's been B-listed for 3 weeks already, it's not like they're snubbing her ! If they don't A-list the song it might be they're getting poor feedback from listeners or they're unsure it fits in their A-list, or at least not as much as the other songs up there. They have to make choices.
August 29, 201313 yr I think it's probably because it doesn't have an official release date yet. In the age of downloads, official release dates really are irrelevant. If Radio 1 can't be versatile with when they play stuff, they really are going to be left behind. The UK charts are already a good month or so behind the US/Australian charts.

IIRC I don't think Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" ever had an official release date yet that was hammered by Radio 1. And you're completely right, Australia are always so far ahead with releases and airplay!
August 29, 201313 yr A '-B-B-B' progression isn't that curious really. Notice a common trait with the first bunch of songs they were all nearly OA/OS or near enough and it shows radio 1 not being able to realise that the charts and songs are released differently to 10 years ago and some songs should just be alisted straight away!!
