So the band set to dominate Kerrang! from now until the end of the year are back with a new album and single, with the latter already making unprecedented waves.

I'm really disappointed with this on first listen - dull melody, lazy middle 8 and they didn't know how to finish it. I liked a lot of "Sinners Never Sleep" but this would have been nothing more than a filler track on there and I'd far rather they'd saved "Reckless" for their big comeback.

Saying that, I thought "Loverboy" was equally dull on first listen and that grew on me. And, "Underdog" excepted, they rarely put out their best songs as lead singles.

It sounds fairly good, really shocked it's doing so well as they don't really seem to me to have that high a profile. A decent YMA6 song on first listen, will probably grow on me and I'll be playing the shit out of it in a week or two.

You Me At Six have always struck me as a "Ladybird Presents: My First Ever Band" band, i.e. the first band tweens and teens first start listening to, before graduating on to other, better bands (other examples of this include Feeder, Paramore, and the majority of Kerrang's playlist).

It's nice to see some rock likely to challenge for the top 10 this week, but YM@6 do nothing for me.

I never found anyone 'better'. :snif:

I always thought the average Paramore song had twice as much to it. Not necessarily more sophisticated than YM@6, but better songwriters.

Really think this will be the era where they change their public opinion. Great lead single, on the FIFA soundtrack, doing well on iTunes. Really think they could kick on while the rock/indie genre seems to be heading for a mini renaissance.
