This YouTube addition has made the US charts more ridiculous than it already was... What's with The fox entering so high???? last time I checked it hasn't sold enough to reach the iTunes top 500!!!
Great week, Lorde top three and a Swede finally makes the top five :cheer: Ha at The Fox!

I don't think it has been released yet

Nice to see a consistent representation of foreign acts on the Hot 100 these days.
Woah at Lorde and Avicii making the top 5! Would Lorde be the first New Zealander to go to #1 if she gets there? We'll have to wait a bit for that to happen though but I think she could do it.

Only other I can think of is Kimbra who was featured on Somebody That I Used to Know in 2011.

Let's move over it. The Hot 100 has never ever been a sales only chart. It represents the current hits including sales, airplay, streams as well. IMO it reflects much more what's popular than the sales only chart, and it's not my opinion only but the US record labels' one as well.

That is a gorgeous top 10

Also, thrilled to see Paramore and J. Cole/TLC in the top 40!

Might as well mention (since there's no albums thread) that Bastille's album entered at #11 this week and The 1975 at #28

I believe it's also opinion of anyone who has followed the Hot 100 closely for longer than few years. The chart as it's now is very good compared to the troubled years of 90s when there were issues with airplay-only tracks being excluded and on the other hand in early 00s when airplay was too weighted (as digital sales weren't yet a factor).

Well, I quite liked the early 00s era as well, but couldn't stand the 2nd half of the 90s just because the Hot 100 excluded songs which have never been released as physical singles. The airplay only rule should have been introduced much earlier...

Airplay though never really reflects what popular but what's the radio stations want to support. Streaming and sales obviously show a better picture of what's popular.

Or what labels pay for...
