I still can't get my head around the fact that Lorde is literally my age (plus a couple of weeks). The USA have got 'teenage music' right getting 'Royals' to #1 while Bieber and 1D have thus far failed to get there. I'm aware that sentence was extremely snobbish.

Biebs hasn't reached #1 in the UK either

But yes, that was snobbish :P

I don't understand how Krewella did so well in comparison to Icona Pop, who you know, had a lead single that people actually liked

3 consecutive #1s by female solo artists (Katy, Miley and Lorde) - when this happened in the UK a couple of weeks ago MW said it was a pretty rare occurrence, anyone know if the same is true in the USA?

It's not entirely uncommon, it last happened in 2012: We Found Love -> Set Fire To The Rain -> Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) -> Part Of Me.

Born This Way, S&M, E.T. and Rolling In The Deep succeeded one another. Only Girl, Raise Your Glass, Firework. There seems to be one 3 or 4 consecutive week female run each year.

I'm completely baffled by this too. Not only was I Love It huge but Icona Pop have been everywhere this year, doing Lollapalooza, Virgin Free Fest and numerous other festivals and events. And reviews have been great- a New York Times review from last weekend actually compared Krewella to Icona Pop and declared the latter's album better.

Shocked they didn't land a top 10 debut.

I think that Rihanna's Pour It Up will re-enter the Hot 100 next week because of streaming! Already 30 million views on YouTube... It will likely debut at n°3 on streaming behind Wrecking Ball & The Fox.
