I felt like my support for you was a bit one sided for most of this year so I'm pleasantly surprised by having four here ^_^ Hoping for at least top 40 for what I suspect will be the highest of them anyway.

I do hope you actually finish this ( ) as I sense that we'll share a lot of mutual faves.

The question currently is more if I'll start it than if I'll finish it  (but I will dw x)

I've got the 150 songs into a very vague order (by going through alphabetically and plonking each song in where it seems right, this starts to get pretty inaccurate when I'm trying to compare each song with 100+ others but the top end is about right which is what matters most ~) Ready to start counting this thang down.

I'm only counting down the top 50 (otherwise I'll never get it finished) so just posting the rest in one big ol chunk. Here it is :magic: Basically if your song is in this list I love it a lot but not as much as the top 50. 50 Fljótavík // Rainmode - The Foghorn

49 Skall // Lorentz - Allt Från Mig

48 Quintessa // Natural Animal - Who You Are

47 Elëdan // Ben Frost - Sola Fide

46 Cadelicia // Made In Heights - Ghosts

A bipolar selection of songs here, with one of the happiest / most uplifting tracks entered this year (Natural Animal mixing upbeat indie pop with an inspired spoken word sample) right next to a track that fills me with HORROR (Ben Frost whose track truly sounds like the soundtrack to a nightmare, with visuals to match in the unofficial video above). More happy electronica / alt-pop from Made In Heights who I'm rather a fan of in general (if you like 'Ghosts' you should listen to 'Death' which is a similar but even better song) while Rainmode's song comes across a bit EMO to me but that chorus is just spectacular. Finally there is Lorentz with a bit of quirky Scandinavian hip-hop, there's more of that to come in a bit. Lorentz has two songs in the top 100 here (possibly the only act to do so?) 'Molnen (Ni Kan Inte Nå Mig)' took its time to grow but 'Allt Från Mig' was much more instant for me.

EDIT: Elizabeth Rose also has 2 songs top 100. Silly me ~ (though neither made the top 50)

Glad that Natural Animal made the top 50 and another Quintessa entry. Also, totally guessed the four songs to make the top 150 assuming i'm right about the remaining one and you've had a massive turnaround for Pia Mia. :o

45 Aeroche // Pixelord - DSL Dream Corp (Curl Up Remix)

44 #00274E // Panteros666 - Baby F-16

43 Kluminican Republic // Up To No Good - I'll Be Gone

42 Danaelanda // Oliver Heldens - Gecko

41 Mdiče // Stay Positive - Blood Brother

A set of songs exclusively for the dance bloc B-) Oliver Heldens is that entry I was in two minds over whether to include or not, the song has of course gone on to become a sizeable UK #1 courtesy of an additional vocal by Becky Hill but the original instrumental version instantly grabbed me in BJSC, a rather simple but undeniable melody and the highlight of 2014 from the dance bloc's official spokesnation. A similar sounding (I want to say it's also future house but if that's wrong Dan will kill me) but much more BJSC-centric track comes from Panteros666 whose video sets the song as the soundtrack to some sort of otherworldly nature documentary. Best video of the section goes however to the oddly satisfying visuals for Up To No Good, timing shrapnel physics to an a-ha sample. Pretty good song too. Elsewhere there's the first of six top 50 appearances for the certified kings of BJSC Aeroche with the captivatingly frantic PC-Music-but-not-quite sounds of Pixelord and an appearance from the late Mdiče (come back plz?) with Stay Positive, an artist I've enjoyed other tracks from but none as much as the super catchy 'Blood Brother'.

Well the last song shouldn't be hard to guess considering how much I've stanned it  Clue: it isn't Pia Mia (I'm not sure what you mean by turnaround, I like it as much as I always have which is QUITE LIKE but not enough to be top 150 here).

Oh I got the impression you disliked it at the time, my bad. Oh and YES for "Blood Brother" which probably grew on me more than any other entry this year from the main contest had finished.

40 Altyr Muunilinst // Porter Robinson - Sea Of Voices

39 Aeroche // Booka Shade - Love Inc

38 Isconia // Hudson Mohawke - Chimes

37 Trifoski // Blawan - Getting Me Down

36 Trifoski // Sentinels - Love Rhythm

Porter Robinson is behind one of my favourite songs of all time in 'Language', his BJSC appearance is a rather different track but still very good. A very beautiful recording, I'm still not sure what appeal Johnkm of all people found in it given its total lack of a melody but there you go. Booka Shade clock another Aeroche appearance, being honest I don't really remember how the song goes most of the time but I know I enjoy it a lot when I hear it (just had a reminder listen now and I'm noticing substantial similarities with my own entry 'The Return'). There's no such memory problems with the other three songs, especially the double whammy from Trifoski - Sentinels sound like they're straight out of the early 2000s with a devilishly catchy house/garage track and Blawan's catchiness is a bit more subtle but the hypnotic repetition of that vocal sample and the grinding industrial backing track implants it in my mind for hours after each listen. Finally we have the legendary Hudson Mohawke with a bass-heavy instrumental that speaks for itself, albeit with a bit of help from a local caveman who provided a few grunts. Those grunts and that bass are now helping to shift units for Apple.

35 Cumulonimbia // Max Richter - Spring 1 (Ade Laugee Remix)

34 D'yermak'er // Ben Khan - Youth

33 Trifoski // Kero Kero Bonito - Sick Beat

32 N DNTN // Hervé and Zebra Katz - Tear The House Up

31 Tinnmark // Lars Vaular - Rett Opp Og Ned

Hip-hop is a sadly rare appearance in BJSC (understandable really) but on the plus side that means on the occasions it does show up it tends to be pretty amazing. Two examples here, the 'shock' winner (that I actually predicted lolol) from Hervé and Zebra Katz which managed to rack up points upon points despite being a fairly leftfield male rap song without a female vocal hook, a bit like a less abrasive Le1f 'Wut', and the promised second instalment of Scandi hip hop from Lars Vaular who massively stands out among the Tinnish crop for 2014 with a song that, if I understood the lyrics, would probably be a completely normal song but as an outside listener sounds delightfully crazy (with a video to match). Kiminiminiminah ~ More foreign rappy stuff that definitely IS crazy is Kero Kero Bonito who fuse English lyrics with Japanese ones and what I'm pretty sure is a Super Mario 64 sample to create one of the year's most refreshingly unique top 10 hits. I elected to leave out one of the Vivaldi entries but I couldn't deny Max Richter a place with a very interesting bhangra-esque remix of his recomposition of the first movement of 'Spring'. The most NORMAL song of this lot comes from Jai P... I mean Ben Khan with the second best track off his '1992' EP. The success of 'Youth' kind of made me regret not having the balls to go through with entering 'Savage' a couple of months earlier, but then I'm sure that would have done rather a lot worse being about ten times as discordant as 'Youth'.

loving this trifoski representation bra :3

Drone Logic shouldn't be far away now i'd imagine <3

not forgotten, just took a break for the weekend (it was a long weekend). this WILL be finished.

30 Quintessa // Thology - Rabbit Holes (Matta Remix) (feat. Mæve)

29 FARC // SOHN - Artifice

28 Desbuanda // Nothing But Thieves - Graveyard Whistling

27 #00274E // Oscar Key Sung - All I Could Do

26 Vülkyria // Lushington - Settle Down

We were thoroughly gutted to see Thology falling just short of a place in the last final - thankfully their brilliantly dark, intense and trippy 'Rabbit Holes' has just today redeemed itself with a top 10 position in the annual rejects contest and it makes our top 30 for the year (should probably be higher than this to be honest but too late to change). FARC's comeback entry from SOHN (a former Persephonian entrant) was rather more appreciated in its time, winning the contest by a small margin and it's not hard to see why, with effortlessly smooth production and vocals combining to form an [insert pretentious Pitchfork vocab] listening experience for all the family. An explosive and epic atheist anthem from Nothing But Thieves was a gem of an entry for which we were incredibly proud to oversee a top 10 finish and the section is completed by a pair of good old electronic trax, the highlight of the brief return of Vülkyria from Lushington (another unbelievably catchy track) and Oscar Key Sung's lovely and quirky track which provides some more Jai Paul-esque sounds to a countdown that lacks the entry from the actual Jai Paul (oop).

Yay! Rabbit Holes and the rest, thanks for the 12 points in Rejects as well.

25 Séyetana // Charisma.com - Iinadukeblue

24 Aeroche // A. G. Cook - Beautiful

23 Trifoski // Daniel Avery - Drone Logic

22 Kylienips // Låpsley - Station

21 Bignia-Zaragovina // RHODES - Your Soul

Charisma.com, my two favourite Japanese women of all time, get the highest of the foreign rap(ish) songs with the fabulous and infectious foot-tapper (quite literally in the video) 'Iinadukeblue' making it into the top 25. Just ahead is the head honcho of PC Music, A. G. Cook with the genre-defining smash 'Beautiful', combining high pitched and repetitive vocals with music that I imagine would drive a synaesthesiac insane. The rest of this lot are a bit more LO-FI, including a gorgeous track from RHODES with a chorus that hits harder each time it comes around and Sound of 2015 nominee Låpsley with the gorgeous James Blake-esque chillout track 'Station', at the time my 12 pointer but now finishing below its two closest rivals from what is easily my favourite contest of the year. Finally we bid farewell to Trifoski who dominate this list in terms of number of entries but can't get any of their individual songs into the top 20 - Daniel Avery has their highest placed track at #23 with the appropriately titled 'Drone Logic', a very Marmite track having very little to it beyond its persistent bleepy motif. I'm rather a fan of Marmite. :magic:

Up and away into the top 20 and we're still yet to see 3 tracks each from Aeroche and Elëdan, as well as 2 each from Cadelicia and Skall :o
