Audrey Napoleon bring her nips... ahem, music to Kylienips / Republic of Adonia / Unovia for LXXVI

The Persephonian BJSC Committee have gone for a blast from the past for BJSC LXXVI, choosing a song that was in contention for representing Persephonia back in 2013 but was passed over for long forgotten reasons. Our 55th entry then is American singer/songwriter/producer Audrey Napoleon with the bangin' tech electro house (thanks Dan x) track 'Dope A La Mode' :music:

The song has been drawn into semi-final 1 hosted in the Republic of Adonia. Unovia are also co-hosting this month, taking care of semi-final 2, while last month's winning nation Kylienips will be hosting the grand final which we hope to be safely through to.

With an 18+ certificate and VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED for heavy use of fake blood, here is the v lewd and nortii music video for 'Dope A La Mode':

*copyright fiends removed this video from YouTube (Persephonia impakt) but it can still be viewed on Vimeo here ~*

A safe for work audio stream is also available here ~

Fun fact: Audrey Napoleon was originally rumoured to be the producer of Lady Gaga's 'Venus'.

I adore both the music and the visuals tbh (I bet the latter was a surprise x), what a banger! Persephonia yet to disappoint. :o

The Chemical Brothers represent Persephonia in BJSC Dance Anthems 2000-2009

Persephonia's entry to the latest spinoff, Dance Anthems 2000-2009 hosted in Aeroche, can finally be revealed. It is an album track from legends of the genre The Chemical Brothers' 2007 album 'We Are The Night' entitled 'Saturate'.

The song is a short edit of a track that originally surfaced in mid-2006 under the title 'Electronic Battle Weapon 8'.

The Chemical Brothers have never appeared in a main edition of the BuzzJack Song Contest but they represented Utopia in the previous 90s Dance spinoff with 'The Private Psychedelic Reel' coming 22nd out of 32 entries. The field this time is a slightly larger 35 and we hope for at least no worse than that although it may be an uphill struggle competing against mostly much more well known songs.

In any case, have a listen to 'Saturate' below if you wish to.

Audrey Napoleon makes the final

Persephonia's qualification streak is back up to three (although already including an auto-qualifier of course) as Audrey Napoleon's 'Dope A La Mode' has sailed through to the final of BJSC LXXVI in Porter Town, Kylienips. This will be the 39th final Persephonia have competed in and we have high hopes for an eighth top 10 finish.

Bré's Baps n Cakes opens stores in 3 new nations

Baked goods franchise Bré's Baps n Cakes is continuing its international expansion following the great success of its outlets in Persephonia and Beaverdonia. Seven stores have opened across Aquafina, two in Jadakissnian capital Nadallius and another, the largest store yet opened, in Kylienipsian capital Porter Town, which is currently serving the freshest baps and cakes to all the delegations from countries that have made the latest BJSC final. Further expansion is expected by the end of the year following successful opening days for the 10 new outlets.

Well done on your qualification.

We are thrilled to be a recipient of two Bré's Baps n Cakes stores *.* what an honour x

I feel like you are going to make top 10 with this, or at least outpeak Audialist. Loving the Voguephonia sound!

Also I keep thinking the lyrics say "Slow me down..."

Audrey Napoleon completes Persephonia's top five collection

Audrey Napoleon's 'Dope A La Mode' has finished fifth in BJSC LXXVI in Porter Town, Kylienips giving Persephonia a third top 10 (and top 5) in the last 5 contests, though we are still yet to ever achieve back to back top 10s. The fifth place finish allows Persephonia to join the hallowed ranks of countries that have finished in every position in the top 5 at least once (following our wins with Jay Dabhi and A-WA, second places with Jaymes Young and Kids Of The Apocalypse, third place with Truls and fourth place with Dawn Richard; we have also come sixth with Spark but never anywhere between seventh and tenth).

'Dope A La Mode' received 246 points (giving Persephonia the dubious and devalued honour of being the first and only country to get 200+ points in three consecutive contests!!), including a full 18 points from Daehun, Trifoski and Usfland, 15 points from Land of DW and 13 points from Cor Lupus and Jadakissnia. Big thanks to these countries and the other 22 who gave the song at least one point!

Additionally the song has been revealed as coming 2nd in semi-final 1 with 116 points, the third highest points total we've received in a semi-final. Our two semi-final winners Kids Of The Apocalypse and Jaymes Young received 147 and 137 respectively, but Audrey's total exceeds that of both of our final winners (Jay Dabhi and A-WA both also came 2nd in their semi-finals with 107 and 103 respectively).

Final results commentary + Persephonia's televote results

For a second contest in a row a country has achieved a first win after a long wait. We are proud to report that win was achieved by our good friends in Aquafina with their 40th entry, Sigala's 'Easy Love'. This follows them setting a new best of 3rd three contests ago with Max Elto's 'Somebody Like You' and is their 4th top 5 hit this year out of 6 entries. As well as setting national records for Aquafina, 'Easy Love' also became the third winner in a row to smash the all-time points record with an unprecedented score of 477, all the more impressive considering there were 10 fewer voters in this contest than the last where Meg Myers set the record of 432. In terms of percentage of available points received, 'Easy Love' is the second most successful song in BJSC history with 46.49% of available points trailing only the 50.54% received by FSR Rontvia winner 'The Last Time' by Sheelah in BJSC XXXI. On top of all of that Sigala received 10 top scores of 18 points, matching the record jointly held by Indila's 'Dernière Danse' and Courtney Barnett's 'Pedestrian At Best'.

Also for a second contest in a row the massive winner prevented a second country from achieving a first win after a long wait. It was just a bit too good to be true for Tinnmark to get their first win right after Kylienips - Tinnmark continue to be the new holders of 'most entries without a win' (68 and counting) but did set a new best of 2nd place with Sandra Lyng's 'Play My Drum' (following 3rd place finishes with Velvet's 'Come Into The Night' and Laleh's 'Some Die Young' in BJSCs XXI and XLII) with a still massive score of 359, though trailing the leader by over 100 points. Aeroche had another very successful month, coming third with Kove's 'Hurts' (feat. Moko) with 295 points and Hendinia were fourth with RUUMER's 'House Of Cards' on 289 points. These were the two semi-final winners - Sigala only came 4th in his semi, once again highlighting the sometimes massive differences between semi-final and final results.

Sixth place went to Greenfroze with Robert DeLong's 'Don't Wait Up', their first top 10 for 21 contests (they last got there with Megan And Liz's 'Release You', 8th in BJSC LV) and an improvement on the 17th place of DeLong's previous entry 'Global Concepts' (Trifoski LII). Cor Lupus achieved their first top 10 with third entry 'West End Kids' by New Politics finishing 7th. They've improved their final position with each entry so far. The nation formerly known as Jamvale claimed its first top 10 under the new name of Mulgracia with LEV's 'Shadow' in 8th place (their third top 10 overall following a 2nd place with Lindsey Stirling's 'Shatter Me' (feat. Lzzy Hale) and a win with Michael Woods' 'In Your Arms' (feat. Lauren Dyson) under their old name). Ramrynia came 9th with ASTR's 'Activate Me' and Florina completed the top 10 with Jai Wolf's 'Indian Summer'.

There were no new countries this contest again (though it looks like there should be a few in the next contest), but Flynnonda made the final for the first time following 2 DNQs. Tame Impala's ''Cause I'm A Man' came 23rd for them in their first final. The only country that entered this contest but not the last was in fact Ajanaeda, returning after a one month absence, but they fell short of the final with comeback entry '1957' by Milo Greene. Varakë made a comeback to the final with Pr0files' 'Luxury' after their last 6 entries (with a 3 contest break between the 5th and 6th) failed to qualify; 'Luxury' came 34th.

Two more countries set new personal bests - Aprogonia, like Cor Lupus, continue to come higher with each entry, finishing 19th with third entry 'Bandit' by Justine Skye. Meanwhile Ultraviolenceland came 24th with Kelsea Ballerini's 'Love Me Like You Mean It', one higher than their record set 2 contests ago by Kinnie Lane's 'Je Te Suivrai'. Jadakissnia did the best of the 4 LXXIV debuting countries the last two contests but this time they did the worst of the 4, though still made the final with M+A's 'When' (feat. Emay), finishing 36th.

The wooden spoon this month went to Ojnoj with Cajsa Siik's 'Change Of Heart' coming 42nd out of 42 with 69 points. Just ahead in 41st with 78 points were N-Lazone with Preditah's 'Supernaturally' (feat. Yasmin), meaning N-Lazone came very close to securing the wooden spoon 3 contests in a row. Three consecutive appearances in the final without cracking the top 40 in any of them nonetheless qualifies them for the title of 'kings of scraping'.

Wonder Villains following Beat Connection on the path to justice

Following the top 15 success of Beat Connection's 'In The Water' in the 'Your Best of BJSC' spinoff earlier in the year, Persephonia have been given another chance to resurrect one of our old DNQs in 'Your Best of BJSC - Rejects', hosted in Jankonie, Hushkanukia.

The Persephonian BJSC Committee was somewhat spoilt for choice given the former flop status of our nation but they ultimately decided that our representatives in the spinoff will be Northern Irish band Wonder Villains with 'Zola', which we originally sent back in BJSC XLI. That was the last semi-final we ever failed to vote in, resulting in the song finishing 21st out of 23 with 21 points (though as with the Beat Connection track it would not have qualified before the deduction anyway).

The song is extra topical now with its women's football themed music video which you can watch below :magic:

('Zola' already had SOME redemption in making the final of the Rejects competition in its year but it was bottom 10 there and the lowest of our 3 songs to make that final which is not satisfactory enough )

Not that I'll be entering myself (seeing M+A flop once was quite enough :kink:) but YESSS at that choice Bray  I've loved 'Zola' ever since you first gave it a spin on plug a while back, so hopefully it can do well here!

Top 20 for The Chemical Brothers in Flynt!

Persephonia's latest spinoff result is in, with 'Saturate' by The Chemical Brothers' finishing smack dab in the middle of the table in BJSC Dance Anthems 2000-2009 in Flynt, Aeroche. The song earned 95 points to come 18th out of 35 (20th prior to being pushed ahead of the Skall and N DNTN entries which received deductions for late voting/non-voting).

Following the small victory in Your Best of BJSC where we had the highest placed song that was originally a DNQ, we have this time achieved a second small victory in getting the highest placed song that wasn't a UK hit - all of the 17 higher finishing entries, as well as Skall and N DNTN, went at least top 40 on the UK singles chart. As the ever wise gooddelta said,

There's a pretty clear divide between the well known songs (the top 17 - though Ramrynia is debatable even though it was a UK top ten), and everything else.

So that makes us the winner of the 'everything else'. We'll take what we can get after clearly being ill advised in sending a song that wasn't already well known and widely loved.

The 18th place finish also matches our performance in the previous 90s Dance spinoff (editor's note: this and all our other spinoff stuff will be added to the first post SOON) and is a slight improvement over the finish of The Chemical Brothers' representation in that contest (22nd place for Utopian entry 'The Private Psychedelic Reel' as reported earlier in PNB).

The contest marked a debut win for everyone's favourite country Jadakissnia in just the fifth BJSC event they have taken part in, as they cruised to the top with Lasgo's 'Something'. Though in the interests of fairness we should point out the entry that received the most points was Hendinia's (Mason vs. Princess Superstar with 'Perfect (Exceeder)', which picked up a full 18 from the Persephonian public), however they officially ended up 3rd due to a 15% deduction for late voting.

Here are the full results of the Persephonian televote (with apologies to Vülkyria who we swear we're not bullying):

18 Hendinia // Mason vs. Princess Superstar - Perfect (Exceeder) 11/10

15 N DNTN // 3 Of A Kind - Babycakes 11/10

13 Ethanola // Âme - Rej 10/10

12 Espen // Modjo - Lady (Hear Me Tonight) 10/10

11 Danaelanda // Camille Jones vs. Fedde Le Grand - The Creeps 10/10

10 Jadakissnia // Lasgo - Something 10/10

9 Flynnonda // Shakedown - At Night 9.5/10

8 PRoJ // Supermode - Tell Me Why 9.5/10

7 Skall // Armand Van Helden - I Want Your Soul 9.5/10

6 Mulgracia // Armin Van Buuren feat. Justine Suissa - Burned With Desire 9.5/10

5 Aeroche // Rui Da Silva feat. Cass Fox - Touch Me 9.5/10

4 Séyetana // Alex C. feat. Yasmin K. - Angel Of Darkness 9/10

3 FSR Rontvia // The Thrillseekers feat. Sheryl Deane - Synaesthesia (Fly Away) 9/10

2 Terra Avium // Moby - Porcelain 9/10

1 Trifoski // Demon vs. Heartbreaker - You Are My High 9/10

Aquafina // Tiësto - Adagio For Strings 9/10

Euphoriffith // Oakenfold feat. Brittany Murphy - Faster Kill Pussycat 9/10

Republic of Adonia // Bodyrox feat. Luciana - Yeah Yeah 9/10

Cumulonimbia // Alan Braxe and Fred Falke - Intro 9/10

Altyr Muunilinst // iiO - Rapture 9/10

Cor Lupus // BT - Somnambulist (Simply Being Loved) 8.5/10

Jayrusalem // Linus Loves feat. Sam Obernik - Stand Back 8.5/10

Land of Jack // Riva feat. Dannii Minogue - Who Do You Love Now? (Stringer) 8.5/10

N-Lazone // Juliet - Avalon (Jacques Lu Cont Remix) 8/10

Ojnoj // Fragma - You Are Alive 8/10

Ashton // Puretone - Addicted To Bass 8/10

Fljótavík // Hercules & Love Affair - Blind 8/10
