Persephonian News Bulletin ~ 25/02/2016

2 for 2 qualifiers in 2016 so far

Digitalism's 'Blitz' has safely qualified as expected to give us 2 out of 2 qualifiers from 2016 entries so far, and our 44th finalist in total. This comes in a great month for instrumental and foreign language entries, with all 6 of this contest's instrumentals (our own plus the entries from Bignia-Zaragovina, Cumulonimbia, FKA π, Fljótavík and Terra Avium) qualifying for the final and 8 out of the 13 foreign language entries also making it, all making for an unusually diverse and exciting final. The Persephonian BJSC Committee hopes the enthusiasm for the instrumental entries may mean our suggested Instrumentals spinoff could be a thing sooner rather than later. B-)

With the total number of entries falling a bit from last month (largely due to 6 countries being banned) the semi-finals were nearly small enough for there to only be 15 qualifiers from each rather than 20. However, a few last minute surprise returning nations ensured the expanded final remained in use and thus there were only 20 DNQs in total, so most of our votes safely made it through, only losing our 1 pointer (Espen) from semi-final 1 and 2 of our would-be top 10 (Desbuanda and Cor Lupus, ranked 6th and 8th respectively) from semi-final 2.

A number of countries with long qualification streaks, including the aforementioned Cor Lupus, lost them this month but the longest of them all continued as Hushkanukia qualified for an 11th contest in a row, while #00274E qualified with a 14th entry in a row to maintain ~moral victory~ on the qualification streak leaderboard. Persephonia's streak is back up to 2. We'll be at the top again in no time!!1

Somehow only just seen this ;o Congrats on the qualification! 8/9 times we've either Q/DNQed together now *.*

Hope this can be another top 10 or even top 5 hit for you tonight <3

Persep'g'honian News Bulletin ~ 01/04/2016

flopping at updating in conjunction with Jadakissnia since 2016

Digitalism do fairly well

In BJSC LXXXII, hosted in Aelan, Danaelanda, Persephonia achieved a 19th place finish with Digitalism's 'Blitz' with 180 points, all in all a fairly solid performance (though a little below some of the predictions and our own initial hopes), giving us a second top 20 in a row and our 25th top 20 hit in all out of 61 entries. It was our third entry to finish 19th (where are the unique positions!!) following SOHN's 'The Wheel' (which was similarly a bit of an underperformance) and Deaf Club's 'Moving Still' (which did far better than we expected at the time). Persephonia will likely be returning to sending songs without getting other countries' approval first now so perhaps we may now usher in a new era of flopping... which may have already begun with a couple of recent spinoffs. But we'll get to that.

20 countries voted for 'Blitz', none quite giving it a full 18 but 6 of those ranked it in their top 3 - it received 15 points each from Kylienips, Land of DW (a second 15 in a row from them <3) and Usfland, and 13 points each from Mulgracia, PRoJ and Vülkyria. Love and kisses to all those and the other 14 who voted for the song. It also continued our run of qualifiers which came top 10 in the semi-final (being 9th with 76 points in semi-final 1).

The usual final results commentary, though even later than ever due to laziness, as well as a triple vote reveal is up in this edition of the News Bulletin after we quickly sweep our last couple of attempts at song contest success under the rug.

Spinoff entries... not so much

In the most recent 'proper' BJSC spinoff, Movies hosted by Bignia-Zaragovina, Persephonia were represented by Romanian gypsy band Mahala Raï Banda vs. German DJ Shantel with 'Mahalageasca' (Bucovina Dub), a remix of a track from the band's 2004 eponymous debut album which featured in 'Borat - Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan', the 2006 mockumentary starring Sacha Baron Cohen and the highest grossing film of all time in Persephonia. In all honesty we just kinda wanted to send a song from that film's soundtrack and sent the best one we could find without looking for anything else more suitable for the contest, so we accepted our fate and ended up in a fairly miserable 30th of 36 in the spinoff with 68 points, bringing an end to a run of 4 straight top 10s. Not that it wasn't a good song. It's still a bop and a half and y'all are crazy for not appreciating it. It did actually pick up a decent number (14) of votes for its low finish though, just most only a handful of points. Thanks to those, especially biggest fans Danaelanda (11 points) and Ultraviolenceland (10 points).

And then there was this... the BuzzJack 10th Anniversary special contest, not officially counting as a main contest or a spinoff but rather filling in the no stats zone just-for-fun position of BJFestivalen (which is taking a break this year to accommodate it). Persephonia rebel and consider it a spinoff anyway for our secon post, meaning we claim another bad spinoff result. Although we were definitely expecting no more. We went with the absurd British comedy musician Captain Hotknives with played out plug.dj meme 'Are You Into Bread?' and went in expecting no one to humour us at all, which is largely what happened as we came 39th out of 46 with 58 points. The biggest supporter of the track was almost inevitably Beaverdonia who gave it 12 juicy mealworm points. Thanks to them and ten other countries who threw it a few more points for the lolz (again mostly only a small handful).

A quick shoutout to those who did take the contests more seriously and walked away with wins - we were thrilled to see Pupok taking the Movies crown with Franka Potente and Thomas D's 'Wish (Komm Zu Mir)', which won with 230 points including our own full 18 (our favourite song rarely wins any form of BJSC, but it's already happened twice this year as revealed in the next news item :o). And then in the BJ10 contest our friends and lovers in Jadakissnia walked away with their third contest win to nicely wrap up pretty much exactly one year as part of the contest, as they received 325 points to win with Agnes' 'Release Me', the second time that song has won a BuzzJack Song Contest after it dominated BJSC XIII for Herzebania (and that was before it was a UK hit!! :kink:) We are of course always thrilled for Jadakissnian successes (and they got 7 points from us for Agnes, although we didn't vote for their Movies entry... #noblocvoting) although we hope that it won't be too long before they get a victory that can't be downplayed in some way, as their two previous spinoff wins were both due to Hendinia not voting and subsequently receiving a deduction, while as above this contest is for some reason not officially counting to any stats. We're sure it can't be long before Jadakissnia can celebrate a 100% proper and recognised win as they continue to send excellent and wide appealing songs to main contests and spinoffs alike <3

Anyway...

BJSC LXXXII final results commentary + triple Persephonian vote reveal!

There were lots of fresh faces at the top end of the leaderboard for BJSC LXXXII, with the entire top 6 achieving new peaks in the contest. Gaining their first ever win - and what a track to do it with! - Ethanola defied all conventional BJSC wisdom and stormed to the top with 360 points for their 8 minute psychedelic trance track, Hilight Tribe's 'Free Tibet' (Vini Vici Remix). Previously Ethanola's lengthy entries (which make up a sizeable chunk of their entire output) have usually sunk without trace in the semi-finals - although their very first entry, Ten Walls' 'Gotham', did provide them a surprise qualifier, as did their previous entry from Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra - but there was something very obviously different this time as 'Free Tibet' instantly stood out as one of the most crazy rollercoaster rides of ICONIC to ever set foot in the contest, with so many twists and turns that surely even the most adamant of long song haters couldn't get bored of it during a listen through. Greatly rewarded for their excellent find, Ethanola swept to the victory on a wave of double-digit points including our full 18 points (and those of 4 other countries). And what better a time for this moment to happen than in a contest hosted by Danaelanda, who now get to hand hosting rights to their closest ally nation as we look set to set sail to Alizarin, Ethanola for BJSC LXXXIII. Ethanola's previous biggest hit was a much more standard (though still ~sick~ :music:) entry, a third place finish in BJSC LXVI for Zeds Dead's 'Lost You' (feat. Twin Shadow and D'Angelo Lacy).

The bookies' favourite to win - and it would also have been a debut win from them - was Vülkyria, who sent Lushington a second time after previously coming 6th with his 'Settle Down'. The second Lushington entry, 'You Got Me Baby', fell short of the win but did squeak into 2nd place with 326 points, meaning Vülkyria finally eclipsed the personal best they set way back in the days they were known as Letland (a 3rd place finish with Anine Stang's 'Dominoes' fifty contests ago in BJSC XXXII). Third place and a first ever medal finish went to Yehesi, narrowly missing out on 2nd with 323 points for Era Istrefi's 'Bonbon'. They did have the honour of receiving the most 18s though, with 7 different countries ranking 'Bonbon' as their favourite (and this was without Botanikka even being in the contest to support their Albanian fave!!), and beating their peak of 6th set by Yellow Claw's 'Till It Hurts' (feat. Ayden) in BJSC LXXI.

Completing the top 5 were two countries who'd never previously had a top 10 hit, though one waited a lot longer than the other. 4th place went to Avalonia with Thomas Bergersen (of Two Steps From Hell)'s 'Children Of The Sun' (feat. Merethe Soltvedt), taking home 290 points. Avalonia made their debut appearance all the way back in BJSC XXXVII and originally only entered twice before disappearing. They reared their head again in the middle of last year but until now still failed to eclipse their best finish of 20th by their second entry, Sweetbox's 'Fever' (feat. Jamie Pineda). Pupok debuted much more recently, and only had to wait until their 6th entry to get a top 10 hit. That hit is Vesala's 'Tequila' which came 5th with 275 points, beating their previous best of 13th with Phantogram's 'Black Out Days'. Notably 3 of the top 5 in this contest were (at least primarily) foreign language entries, with 'Free Tibet' only featuring chanting in... Hindi?, 'Bonbon' being sung mostly in Albanian and 'Tequila' sung entirely in Finnish.

Also scaling a new peak but just missing the top 5, 6th place went to Jadakissnia with BLVCK CEILING's 'WVFFLIFE' (CHVRN Remix) (I don't know how to pronounce that either ~), giving them a fourth top 10 hit and beating the 7th place of AK and LYNX's 'Virtual Paradise' (feat. Veela). Notably it's a second top 10 in a row for them, making them the only country to have come top 10 in both of the main contests in 2016 so far. Completing the top 10, New Lexico were 7th with Sofi De La Torre's 'Colorblind Cruisin' (their first top 10 hit since the rather more questionable 'Armenian Girl' by Lilit Hovhannisyan came 5th in BJSC LXVI while they were still known as Allecian), Fljótavík had a bit of a dark horse hit with Kenton Slash Demon's 'Harpe' in 8th (a first top 10 in 11 contests as their fortunes have sadly slipped a bit in the contest in the last year or so), D'yermak'er did well :) in 9th with Frances Rose's 'Dangerous' (returning them to the top 10 after only a month out) and FARC came 10th with another mostly foreign language (Persian) entry, Mahan Moin's 'Azizami', their first top 10 hit since BJSC LXXIV.

The only debuting country this edition was Pagasa. They managed a debut qualifier and finished a not-too-dreadful 30th with KING's 'The Greatest'. There were a couple of returns after long breaks from the contest, though it's unclear whether either nation will be sticking around now. The unexpected return for Ingermanlandia netted them a 26th place finish with excellent comeback entry 'Amanecer' by Bomba Estéreo (we hope they do remain with us!) while the slightly more expected return for Dalisska - they were dragged back by Deandria and were initially billed to co-host the contest, before Deandria decided to pass on hosting entirely - was not so successful, with KNOWER's 'Hanging On' failing to make the final in their first contest since BJSC LV. FKA π were unbanned and made a return again, thankfully actually voting in both the semi-final and final this time, though they still finished a fairly underwhelming 37th with Ital Tek's 'Cobra'. Farahtyn, N-Lazone and PRoJ also made returns again after short breaks although all fell well short of the final.

In addition to all of the top six, Taahino also set another new personal best (for a second month in a row), creeping closer to a first top 10. They came 15th with Crystalyne's 'Punks Don't Dance'. The host entry, Danaelanda's Paperwhite with 'Get Away', had to go through semi-finals but cleared them easily and came 22nd in the final, outperforming both of the autoqualifiers (Deandria followed their win with a 24th place finish with Poison Ivory's 'Alchemy', while Aeroche's latest autoqualifier 'Tear' by Holy Esque showed some rare vulnerability for the usually dominant nation as it came 36th. Lesson learned: never send anything different to your usual entries?)

Sandebörg inexplicably qualified with Maltese Eurovision reject 'Golden' by Brooke (who keeps accepting their bribes?) but got their COMEUPPANCE with a wooden spoon, coming 42nd of 42 with 87 points. At least it wasn't the worst song in the final. Oops.

And now we can finally reveal our full rankings for BJSC LXXXII's final and semi-final 1, as well as the Movies spinoff and the BuzzJack 10th Anniversary no-stats-zone-just-for-fun contest thingy, and be back up to date. Yay.

Nothing is ever as horrific as Tich.

In other news Persepghonia (as we are now unofficially known due to the BJ10 contest x) are currently dithering over our next main contest entry. We have a drum n bass flop, a Middle Eastern flop, a progressive metal flop and an alternative hip-hop flop all in the potential list.

Captain Hotknives ROBBED. Genuinely something I sometimes listen to out of choice lmao. I'm glad you ended up sending it 'cause it's so quintessentially you and one of the first iconic plug songs that comes to mind. Slay with the top 20 for Digitalism also, a right bangahhh~

Thank you for the kind words regarding the win  My mission is to eventually get a win that can't be irritatingly downplayed as you say ;) One day!! (with El Chombo perhaps x)

Looking forward to your next entry whatever that may be *.*

BOOTS represents Persephonia in Alizarin

Now PNB is up to date with the backlog of BJSC news ~ we can announce our entry to BJSC LXXXIII in Alizarin, Ethanola is 'C.U.R.E.' by American producer/singer/rapper Jordan Asher aka BOOTS. It returns us to the English language after a couple of months of rebelling against it. Maybe we'll rejoin the rebellion in the next contest. And like our last English language entry, it's a hip-hop song (although this time more 'alternative' hip-hop ~). Hopefully it won't have the same fate as that last English language hip-hop entry of ours.

BOOTS is best known for producing many of the songs on Beyoncé's self-titled 5th album, and he has also worked with former Persephonian veto-gate act and Xmas Special II top 10 finishers Run The Jewels (and the production on 'C.U.R.E.' bears more than a little resemblance to the work of Run The Jewels' producer El-P, who is a co-producer on BOOTS' album though I'm unsure if he had any input on this particular song). He doesn't seem to have attracted that much attention as an artist himself though so we're claiming only mild cheapness. This song is taken from his debut artist album 'AQUΛRIA' which was released in November of last year.

Persephonia continue to love a good music video and this latest entry is no exception to that. Check out the song and video below. It has cool art and stuff B-)

We are track 4 in semi-final 1. You can find us next to Jadakissnia for a second contest in a row. This can't have been the doing of random.org surely ~

BOOTS marches to the final

Persephonia have maintained their qualification streak for 2016 so far again as BOOTS' 'C.U.R.E.' has made the final in BJSC LXXXIII, following a tense and slightly confusing semi-final results reveal which left us thinking we were actually 21st as we were the last semi-final 1 qualifier to be announced through. 'C.U.R.E.' had been predicted not to qualify by most predicting nations, so the Persephonian BJSC Committee is very happy and relieved to have got this far, especially in a contest where most of the other R&B/hip-hop entries did very poorly (making up the entire bottom 3 in semi-final 2).

A number of Persephonian voters' favourites which had also been heavily predicted to DNQ defied the predictions too, including Skall who made a highly unexpected return to the final as they finally saw success with their recent formula of lengthy dance entries. Not as lucky were Suedeonia with Weather Report's 'Birdland', a delightfully standout track which received 7 points from Persephonia but fell short of giving the nation their first qualifier. Tinnmark's entry 'Grizzly Man' by Rockettothesky and Utopia's comeback 'Sour Candy' by Bleached also DNQed after receiving 4 and 1 Persephonian points respectively, the latter not helped by Utopia receiving a deduction for failing to vote in the semi-final. In semi-final 2, three more tracks which would have received Persephonian points had we been able to vote did not qualify - Trifoski's Melt Yourself Down with 'Fix My Life' was 3rd in the unofficial Persephonian straw poll, Flynnonda's Wolfie with 'Obi Wan' was 4th (despite coming last in the semi-final) and Hendinia's SASHA ₴ѺѺ with 'Nightmare' (feat. Tuesday Knight) was 8th.

Hushkanukia remain the nation to appear in the most consecutive finals, now on a 12th in a row just ahead of Aeroche's 11, while #00274E secured a 15th entry in a row to qualify but not all in consecutive contests.

Yay! This was way too good to not qualify so I'm glad to see it through. Even if we had to suffer the major tension of being announced so late! :kink:

Notably 3 of the top 5 in this contest were (at least primarily) foreign language entries, with 'Free Tibet' only featuring chanting in... Hindi?, 'Bonbon' being sung mostly in Albanian and 'Tequila' sun entirely in Finnish.
I did further research and the lyrics are in some kind of Tibetan dialect. I guess look up the original?

Lol I guess that would make sense  It just says Hindi when you copy and paste it into Google Translate (but it doesn't actually translate it).

(what even is being on time?)

Midtable finish for BOOTS in Ethanola

Persephonia scored another adequate success in BJSC LXXXIII, finishing in 25th place with BOOTS' 'C.U.R.E.' with a total of 166 points. It's our lowest position and points total so far this year in the main contests, but it did get more votes (22) than our last entry and also received two sets of 18 points (from Séyetana and Syndare), more than either of our previous 2016 entries, which got one and none respectively. It continues Persephonia's inability to get new unique positions, as we came 25th once before with our autoqualifier 'Eden' by Gent Mason. As well as the two 18s, 'C.U.R.E.' ranked in the medal positions for three other countries, receiving 15 points from Land of DW (a third time in a row we have received their 15!) and 13 points each from Ingermanlandia and Jadakissnia. Love and appreciation as ever to all who threw some points our way.

Stats geek paragraph: 25th in the final marked a significant improvement on our projected finish of 37th, as we were fairly lucky to make it through semi-final 1, finishing 17th there with just 48 points from only 8 countries, the second lowest total we've ever qualified with (ahead of the 46 points that saw Deaf Club's 'Moving Still' qualifying, and that was only because of 2 other countries receiving deductions for failing to vote). That's the second time this year we've outperformed the projection from the semi-finals by more than 10 places, after The Shanghai Restoration Project came 6th from a projected 20th. The only previous time we managed that - and still our biggest improvement from semi-final projection to date - was last year's 'Tide: The Paradox Effect' by Dawn Richard which came 4th from a projected 19th. Our full stats for improvements and regression from projections are now included in post 4 of this thread because why not ~ Perhaps a few more stats lists to be added there in the future if I get around to it / need to procrastinate more.

Final results commentary + Persephonia's full rankings

Despite being a full-on cheesy pop song the likes of which has not seen a BJSC win for many years, the overwhelming favourite to win BJSC LXXXIII was Yehesi's entry '10.000 Luchtballonnen' by Belgian-Dutch girlgroup K3, and indeed the bookies were bang on as the song secured Yehesi their first ever BJSC win, just a month after their first top 3 finish in the previous contest with Era Istrefi's 'Bonbon'. Which itself was just a month after they threatened to quit the contest entirely. We're sure they're now glad they didn't. And they're the only ones. The Land of the Shamrock faves and perhaps modern day ABBA (?) managed to appeal far beyond the standard pop hoe base and received a total of 350 points. It wasn't without its share of hatred (which surprisingly did not include us, as we gave it one point against our OWN INTERESTS) but it was clearly the most loved song of the month, also receiving more votes (39) and more 18s (6) than any other song in the contest. Sung in Dutch, it marked a second consecutive foreign language BJSC winner and the fifth in total. We approve. #WarOnEnglish

For a second month in a row, all of the top 3 achieved new peaks. Bookies also correctly predicted the 2nd placed song, the Jade Blue remix of Mendoza's 'Love Druggie (Addict)' representing Cadelicia. That received 312 points to earn a silver medal, becoming Cadelicia's fourth top 10 hit in total but their first to come higher than 9th. Their previous biggest hit was 'Beating Of My Heart' (Matisse & Sadko Remix) by M-3ox featuring Heidrun, while their other two top 10s scraped in 10th (About The Girl's 'We Have To Talk' and the mildly amusingly oppositely titled 'DTTM (Don't Talk To Me)' by XOV). Cadelicia will be hosting the 84th edition of the contest following Yehesi passing on the opportunity. The bronze medal went to Dobago who returned to the contest after a month out, and continued their run of finishing higher with each entry to date, having started out with a run of 36-35-31-5 in their first four entries. A top 2 in their sights for the next contest? They earned 298 points with 'Feel' by Mahmut Orhan featuring Sena Şener. The similarly titled 'Feeling' by BB Diamond came 4th for Ramrynia with 273 points, a marked return to form after a poor start to 2016 for them, while Pupok came 5th for a second month in a row, though with fewer points this time, 239 in total for GIRLI's 'So You Think You Can Fuck With Me Do Ya'. The back-to-back hits for both Yehesi and Pupok have seen them take up the top two in the soon-to-be-published new YTD update.

Cor Lupus rebounded from their first DNQ last month and got a third top ten, coming 6th place with Rain Man's 'Bring Back The Summer' (feat. OLY). Botanikka joined Dobago as a returning nation in the top 10 (and also with a Eurodance song :magic:), after sitting out another one-contest ban they came back strong with a 7th place finish for potential future hit 'This Girl' by Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners. Unovia also returned after a month out and celebrated their 50th anniversary (let's just ignore that it was actually their 49th entry as no one noticed that yet...), becoming the third country to take advantage of the anniversary veto framework exception, sending former BJSC winner Ricki-Lee with 'Mirage'. Previous countries to take this opportunity - Numayania and Altyr Muunilinst - both DNQed with their anniversary entries, proving the rule to not be as much of a contest breaker as expected, but 'Mirage' was considerably more successful, finishing 8th. Completing the top 10 were two countries in their favourite positions. Hushkanukia claimed a fourth top 10 hit with K.Flay's 'Can't Sleep' at #9 - all of their top 10s have come 9th apart from their win with PVRIS' 'St. Patrick'. Finally, 10th place went to Séyetana with another foreign language entry, 'Tanz Mit Mir' by FAUN and Santiano. Séyetana have made a habit of scraping their top 10s, as it's the 5th time they've come 10th, and of their 12 top 10 hits in total only 3 came higher than 8th.

Poor brave Ultraviolenceland were denied a first top 10 hit again, with Lucy Hale's 'Lie A Little Better' matching their peak of 11th first scaled two contests ago. They match Cadbury in peaking at #11 in two separate contests. The only other country to reach a new peak was Suedeonia. They still haven't managed to qualify for a final yet, but had their highest finish in a semi-final of their 3 entries to date, coming 22nd in semi-final 1 with Weather Report's 'Birdland'. There was also one debuting country this month - Medhelnia had already entered the Movies and BuzzJack 10th Anniversary spinoffs but made their main contest debut this month with Kállay Saunders Band's 'Faded', though they fell short of a qualification. In addition to the returnees already mentioned, 7 other nations made comebacks. Isconia and Utopia both did not submit any votes in either the semi-final or final, and neither qualified (though the latter may have if they had voted). Republic of Adonia returned from a ban and continued their reputation as serial late voters in both stages, also falling short of the final. Triangledonia also returned from the ban and failed to qualify. Skall and Thelonia's post-ban returns were more successful. Skall, as previously reported, had a surprise qualifier with Teengirl Fantasy's 'Azz Klapz' which came 32nd in the final after their last 4 entries failed to qualify, while Thelonia qualified for a fourth time and came 24th with Wild Belle's 'Throw Down Your Guns'. (Wild Belle and Jade Blue were both previously entered by Persephonia, and their new entries in this contest have done considerably better than ours. Hats off ~) Finally, Joedonia returned after sitting out a few contests since a certain controversy we no longer speak of, and came 36th with LANY's 'ILYSB'.

We can perhaps look forward to another swathe of unbanned countries two contests from now, as sadly there have been quite a few new bans this month. That includes FKA π who did vote in the semi-final and managed to qualify but nonetheless failed to vote in the final. Their entry, 'Cyan' by Dinamo Azari feat. S.Y.F and Fritz Helder, came 40th after its 33% deduction. Those 3 artists make up 3/4 of the defunct band Azari & III who were also previously entered by Persephonia. Late voters Bignia-Zaragovina also suffered a deduction, although only 15%, which resulted in them picking up the wooden spoon, coming 42nd and last with 76 points with Marcus & Martinus' 'Elektrisk' (feat. Katastrofe). The song that actually received the fewest points however was Vülkyria's auto-qualifier 'Game Over' by Debris, receiving 80 points. The other auto-qualifier from hosts Ethanola didn't do much better - Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman vs. Tom Staar's 'Empire' coming 38th.

BJSC Worldvision II
Hushkanukia

Persephonia has been drawn another tough card in the second edition of Worldvision. Following our pick of Thailand last year, we were tasked this year with finding a song from Malta.

I already know your upcoming entry is great (dammit at not selecting that other potash tho ;) x) so I hope that qualifies!

Intrigued for your Worldvision entry after your last one incorporated kitties somewhat ;o hehe x

Persephonian News Bulletin ~ 10/05/2016

Persephonia goes psytrance for Worldvision II

For the second edition of the Worldvision spinoff, held this time in Hushkanukia, Persephonia were given Malta to represent as previously reported. We can now confirm our entry is by an obscure musician by the name of Volfym, with the song 'Muck' released under the alias Mudlam. We can't say a lot about the artist other than he follows the official Persephonian SoundCloud page (:D) and he was discovered by the Persephonian BJSC Committee trawling Bandcamp for releases tagged 'Malta'.

The song, taken from an EP of the same name released on Bandcamp earlier this year, is a near six minute long psytrance track sampling the voice of J. C. R. Licklider (the man pictured in the post above ~), an important figure in computer science according to Wikipedia. The relevance of his words to the song or the title I'm unsure of. But nonetheless, it's a banger, and we hope a few other nations like it.

Taken from the same EP is this song which samples SpongeBob SquarePants ripping his pants. We almost sent it instead for the sheer bizarreness.
