Whenever I've seen this it's been hilarious! Probably because I've only seen two (Justin Timberlake's 5th time and JGL's episode). I really need to get round to watching more! I will be downloading this weeks, of course. Miley <3 (and next week, but mainly for Katy Perry)
I've only seen a few episodes when I really like the guest (Sofia Vergara/One Direction, Jennifer Lawrence, Justin Bieber) because most of the time I don't find the sketches that funny, there is perhaps one really good sketch per episode. Many of the characters are just annoying imo. I did check out the Tina Fey opener last week and eh..it's just something about the show because I love a few of the past cast members in different projects.
Tina Fey is enough to put anyone off tbh. Easily one of the most overrated and annoying "comedians" in a while (soz to the hipster smoothie crew & Pavel - but I just don't "get" the fascination with her).

I don't really get the SNL humour either. It's all a bit like... "ironic obvious". Like we know the jokes are a bit BASIC but we're being IRONIC so it's OKAY. Maybe it's just an American thing.

Well for what it's worth, Miley's episode was enjoyable, more so than Tina Fey's in my opinion. Some of the sketches were more absurd than usual (esp. an OTT political parody of We Can't Stop), but she was great and definitely made it worth watching. I expected her to sing a new track off the album but she performed Wrecking Ball and We Can't Stop, the latter-without giving too much away-was very different from the VMA performance :D

It's just American humour, they love it. I was waiting in line at a gun range in America, and an old SNL with Will Ferrell was playing. I didn't laugh once, yet the two American's behind me were in absolute tears. Perplexing.

JGL's most recent episode was iconic

Katy Perry performed "Roar" (using the same theme as the video, however I preferred her VMA performance) and "Walking On Air" but sadly did not appear in any sketches :nocheer:

Next episode is in two weeks: host Edward Norton, musical guest Janelle Monae!

I was waiting for someone to say that, after seeing the gifs on here about 50 times that was enough motivation to create the thread

Disappointing that Katy didn't perform 'Unconditionally', but it was to be expected. Even more gutting that she wasn't in any sketches! Dunno if I'll bother watching this one then as I'm not sure I like Bruce enough to take an hour out of my time to watch his SNL...
Kerry Washington announced as the host for November 2nd. Eminem will be featuring as the musical guest for the 6th time.

Episode 4: Barely laughed at all. Just pretend it never happened and hope Kerry Washington does better next episode! I've never seen Scandal or any of her films so idk what to expect~

Janelle Monáe was enjoyable though! She sang Dance Apocalyptic and Electric Lady. Performing on SNL is a great achievement for her :heart-old:

You should sort that out tbh. :drink:

I thought Kerry did a fab job. "My Girl" was the clear highlight and she totally worked it but I also loved the opening, Miss Universe and the Cartoon Network sketch. A few did fall flat, I don't know what the woman thrusting was all about and the MTV one wasn't great but Weekend Update was less annoying than the other few I've seen (and it didn't even need Kerry)!

Hope the next couple are as good, the line-ups of Lady Gaga and Josh Hutcherson/Haim sound great.

YES! Kerry was really good and the episode was excellent! Can't praise it enough!!

('My Girl' is a flawless parody of 'The Fox', if anyone's interested. And Eminem performed 'Berzerk' with Rick Rubin and 'Survival' with Skylar Grey.)

Oh and I was not aware of the media criticism throughout the week leading up to the episode, but yeah the way they made fun of themselves in the opening was great

Also didn't know that Kenan and Jay had taken a stand and stopped playing female characters! :o Good for them IMO

I'm reading Kenan's interview now http://www.tvguide.com/News/SNL-Diversity-...on-1072056.aspx

Episode 6: Gaga is a MUST WATCH. I lost count of how many songs she ended up singing, that was fun~

Waking Up With Kimye was amazing!! Also that was my first time hearing Gypsy, loved it ^_^ The apartment interview was...questionable

YES. Best sketch, loved how much the Kardashians were in the ep. First time I've actually enjoyed every sketch, not a weak link!

Loved Gaga's performances, didn't see her monologue though as the full episode on the NBC site didn't include it..strange (it didn't have Eminem's performances two weeks ago either but I didn't miss them so much)

Haim appeared in a sketch :w00t-old:!! (see video) Don't Save Me was great too! And Josh Hutcherson of course, but he was kind of a letdown after Kerry W and Lady Gaga had done so well.

(I noticed two of the ones I posted last week are gone now, this one may not last long either)

Also, first post updated with the rest of the episodes for 2013!

Dec 7: Paul Rudd/One Direction

Dec 14: John Goodman/Kings Of Leon

Dec 21: Jimmy Fallon/Justin Timberlake (again!)

Edited by RiseR

I managed to catch them last week, thanks for posting. :D

Latest ep wasn't that funny I didn't think (aside from the animal hospital which was GREAT) but it didn't matter as I could watch Josh Hutcherson all day, my baby.

Looking forward to One Direction performing for a second time and Paul Rudd should be good too but I might pass on the other two.

YES! Paul Rudd/One Direction and Jimmy Fallon/Justin Timberlake <3
