I wonder if they should push a new single quickly (get something sent to radio and maybe try get a video shot - focusing on a storyline or something - before Xmas) or just try and keep pushing Disco Love since it's started to stabilise?

 

Agreeing with Arrs just because we've seen how they fare in Xmas (#15 my heart takes over) and it won't get a lot of airplay. Very few British artists get success as they are overshadowed by American artists in q4

Yes, they should keep pushing Disco Love. But of course they won't. They never do after release week. Disco Love is going to run its course and fall out of the Top 40 soon enough because there's no airplay or promo to keep it afloat. Their only hope of keeping this album alive through the holiday season will be to do some signings around Christmas and take advantage of holiday sales. They need to keep themselves out there until they can release Not Giving Up in January.

They don't need to have the release (impact) date until January but need to have promo for the album/single from the start of December onwards with radio and video rotation of the new single, performances on tv spread out across December and January and as I said before an advert on TV everywhere, maybe even advertising it for £5.

Problem is I think they'll wait until Frankie is back before they do a video/promo for the new single. :(

 

It will be very hard to market them now though, especially with overshadowing Christmas releases AND Frankie absense. e

 

If they release NGU (or whatever other song) now it might even miss the top-40 with lack of radio support and unclear future of the video. But if they push the release until January the album might be pretty much forgotten by the public, and even the single release won't help it by much.

 

That's why I wouldn't mind ' Leave A Light On ' being the next single with it immediately being 59p, followed by releasing ' Not Giving Up ' in March.

 

 

It could have been alot worse. The fact is, that right now, the album can still be saved. Sales are incredibly low and there's probably nothing between a top 20 album and a top 40 album. If they do some promo over the next few weeks (or a price cut?) then it could stick around until they get their next single announced and sent to radio where it could probably get a decent push again.

Obviously, I doubt that ' Living For The Weekend ' is going to be near high sales in November though, I expect another two weeks top 100. It would be good if they managed to promote on Children In Need in November though.

Well I just have NO desire to listen to this album at all, it's gotten so old so quickly. All I'm going to back to is 'Disco Love' and 'Not Giving Up'. Compared with On Your Radar which I hammered for about 3 months after its release (granted the tour did help that). I honestly think this is their worst album, it has so many basic, filler tracks.

I was kinda bored of the album but gave it a listen earlier and really enjoyed it. Not their best album but it's not their worst either IMO.

This is a nice album but considering how long they worked on it, it's very filler and faceless. It's got no identity and to me is just a bunch of songs thrown together. The songs aren't BAD (except Somebody Else's Life and Don't Let Me Dance Alone), they just aren't that amazing. I'll have them on my iTunes and get some pleasure out of listening to them but there's no "OMG THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING I MUST REPLAY THIS OVER AND OVER!" type feeling I had with their previous albums.

I've NEVER disliked a Saturdays album this much during its first few weeks of release; the other albums (especially On Your Radar and even Headlines) were spun like crazy before my love started to die down. I guess it'll take a few months to see if it can stand the test of time; I find their other efforts (bar Headlines) have for me, especially Chasing Lights and On Your Radar (which although faceless, does have its brilliant Saturdays moments).

 

And to reiterate what shadow has just said, this album is COMPLETELY faceless with Disco Love really only retaining some sort of Saturdays sound; On Your Radar had more of these sounds. I just will never forgive whoever thought it would make more sense to include tracks by the Jam than ones by Ina.
