November 26, 201311 yr It's sad to think how optimistic we all were following the first week sales of ' What About Us ' It looked like a certain 400,000 + and looked likely of managing to be in the YTD top 40. It's struggled to pass 380,000 and it would be an achievement if it managed to end the year on 390,000 sales. I'm hoping we see The Saturdays' performing on shows like Text Santa during Christmas, even if it's just to perform an album track! I think it's selling ~400 copies every week now, with that figure obviously decreasing as the weeks progress. I think it'll end the year with 385,000 with hopefully a decent push during the gift card effect which would chart in the first week of January (I think). It should be just under 383,000 now.

We had the sales figures back when Living For The Weekend was released and it was around 378 500 I think. So it should be around 379 900-380 000 by now.

Should be around 385k for gift card week which could add any amount between 4-14k, it's often very unpredictable. To compare, All Fired Up sold around 7-8k that week? Therefore, should really 400k by Feb 2014!

It would mean it has sold like 4-5k in 5 weeks which is more or less 1k per week. That's quite a lot. Edited November 26, 201311 yr by Hurricane
November 26, 201311 yr I can't see 'What About Us' going back to the top 40 on iTunes even if they do perform on Top of The Pops (which they won't, let's face it). The problem is that while it was a big hit, it wasn't MASSIVE. It had amazing first week sales but compared to the likes of Blurred Lines, Get Lucky, Wake Me Up etc it was a very average sized #1 for 2013.
November 26, 201311 yr Well as you said, it was a bit hit, not a massive one, and there's nothing wrong with that. Now they need to get back at having "hits" which is selling 190-210k of a song.

Completely agree! And first stop on the hit bus must be Not Giving Up...................if their team have any sense that is...

That update is from October though, it's been 4-5 weeks since it was at 379,000, I'd say 382,000 is about right. Edited November 26, 201311 yr by LoveKiller
November 26, 201311 yr That update is from October though, it's been 4-5 weeks since it was at 379,000, I'd say 382,000 is about right. I just checked the numbers of vidcapper during the time that update was given and it is more or less the same, so I guess 382 makes sense afterall!

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it. I meant that on iTunes gift card week in January, because of the sheer amount of huge hits released this year and the fact What About Us was #1 at the start of the year, it'd be unlikely that it'd get such a big boost. It's not exactly stuck around on iTunes for months and months like other #1's so why would it get a massive boost when people get gift cards?
November 28, 201311 yr I do assume that they're leaving ' Living For The Weekend '. I don't think it would be possible to save the album unless something is announced immediately. John Newman's new single is out in two weeks and Little Mix's new single is out within the next month. These girls are beyond frustrating.
November 28, 201311 yr I don't think they're leaving LFTW yet, they've said they're touring with it and they won't be announcing a BRAND NEW single before the Living For The Weekend tour.

I think that the only reason they're delaying it a bit is because they want Frankie to be there for the next single campaign. She does sing the flawless post-chorus bridge part of Not Giving Up, after all. ;) Edited November 28, 201311 yr by joepassmore
November 28, 201311 yr I really don't think they'll bother with a re-release, it'd just be trying to flog a dead horse. It's not gonna do anything for its sales. I agree that they're probably delaying it for Frankie, and their new single would probably get buried if released right now, sadly. January is a good time as it's quieter.
November 28, 201311 yr If they're releasing another single in January then there's definitely no point releasing 'Leave A Light On'. They aren't going to sell any albums in January even if they release a ballad. They'll miss the Xmax sales boost in the album chart. They're better off just releasing Not Giving Up and getting a hit single to promote the tour instead.
November 28, 201311 yr Remember to check the album chart runs thread, guys. ^_^ 'Living For The Weekend' still hasn't sold as much as 'On Your Radar' did in its first week.
November 28, 201311 yr Sales for the latest album have been horrific. Their single sales havent been great neither with the exception of what about us. I hope they don't get dropped but can't see how the record company can justify keeping them?
November 28, 201311 yr Maybe the production costs aren't that expensive and surely they have a special contract (maybe they give to the label a part of their income they usually make with their personal deals? I don't know...)
