In anticipation of Lorde being Number One on Sunday, I thought I'd look at how many New Zealand acts have made the UK top 75, and it's a rather short list (but may well be incomplete if there are some very fleeting appearances I'm not aware of). Most of them are only part New Zealand acts (all mixed acts are AUS/NZL exepct Thompson Twins who are GBR/NZL and Crowded House who originally were AUS/NZL and then added two USA members)

 

Daniel Bedingfield was born in NZ to NZ parents, but moved to the UK before he was 2 years old and has been usually regarded as British (see "Best British Male" Brit award nominations etc.), while Natasha Bedingfield was born and raised in the UK.

For some reason I'd always thought Steriogram were Australian, but you're right they are from NZ.

It's very pedantic and irrelevant to mention it but some line-ups of Crowded House are NZ/Aus/USA...

What a shame the lovely Bic Runga never charted in the top 75. This one, famously featured in the Oz-Heather love scene in "American Pie" peaked at #93 (#28 in Ireland). It was voted the 6th best song made in New Zealand of all time in 2001.

 

 

And this one came agonizingly close (#78, #26 in Ireland)
