Can we just not focus on Lily and focus on the video? I just cried for 5 minutes.

Her voice remains as grating as ever then.

I love the original of this, despite hating Keane. This is really good though, it isn't something I'd have thought would work on paper but it really does. It could go to #1, with everyone already talking about the ad so quickly from what I've seen! I doubt it will right away though, might take a couple of weeks like The Power Of Love did.

I'm not sure what to think about this having watched the ad, I love 'Somewhere Only We Know' and I love Lily Allen but I don't think the song really suits her that well. Might take a bit of getting used to.

It sounds completely as I expected it to sound - Pleasant and inoffensive. Although I don't really think Lily is entirely suited to this and that's apparent in the song.

 

BUT lets just focus on the advert for a moment - one of the most beautiful adverts I've seen in a long time :wub:

Annie Lennox nearly got the ad in place of Lily - I would have liked to have heard her version, she's a more powerful vocalist and may have suited it better than Lily (though wouldnt be as big, obviously)

I'm not sure that Annie Lennox would have done it in a different style. After all, there seems to be a fixed style for these adverts. She could have done it in the same sort of style as the wonderful Love Song For A Vampire. Sadly I suspect you are right in saying that it would not have been as big a hit as Lily Allen's version is likely to be.

Love the full version! :wub: Not quite as fantastic as 'The Power of Love' and 'Your Song' yet but I'm sure it will get even better with every listen! Still amazing though and I hope it can go to #1 like Gabrielle last year! :D

Rubbish version

I've now heard this in full (not just the advert), it's pretty shoddy. It shows just how paper thin her voice really is.

It's so cute and perfect for its job.

Lily's strength for me is her quirky lyrics not her vocals. Don't like this at all.

I admit that this has been the latest victim of the GRIFF FIRST IMPRESSION review but I bloody love this now.

 

It's so perfect for winter and her voice on the song really has grown on me. Also I like how the song takes twists and turns throughout the song you might not expect the song to explore. So in other words, a good rendition.

 

As much as I love Lily's version, Natasha would have done a good job with it too. :heart:

I love Lily but she is getting quite irritating on social networks. Here she is talking about the midweeks again and asking people to buy it again because some of it goes to charity. Well ok, but she could as well ask for people to give directly to the cause, I find it's just a tired excuse to beg people to buy her single again. And it's been number 1 already, she don't need to push it that hard this time around.

So she's not allowed to promote her own single?? :unsure: The fact that it's for charity is just an extra reason to buy in the eyes of her and her label. There's no harm in promoting on her own Facebook/Twitter. Not as if she's forcing anyone, anyway.
