November 30, 201311 yr Great work Bre. I doubt they'll ever top 2004. As well as the BBC Sound Of... list, the UK Blog Sound of 2014 longlist is revealed on Tuesday (full disclosure - I was one of the bloggers invited to take part), which should make for interesting reading.
November 30, 201311 yr One of my favourite music parts of the year, not really sure who I've discovered and can tip for next year though. Nice to see all the 'non pop' artists of 2013 having hits to their names (Tom Odell, Haim, Kodaline).
December 1, 201311 yr Two recent fairly terrible years to be honest, I wouldn't call any of the acts in 2012 or 2013 big stars of the year. Indeed after an amazing first few years they seem to gradually be getting worse at their picks?

December 2, 201311 yr Author Time for the first update ~ New entries in the singles chart today for Hurts ('Under Control' #1), McFly ('Love Is On The Radio' #6) and Jessie J ('Do You Hear What I Hear?' #59), as well as a new peak for another Jessie J ('Thunder' #40) and Chris Brown ('Show Me' #64). Nothing new in the album chart. Now the Sound of 2014 longlist is announced I can fill in the chart success already achieved by some of the people on there. There are already more #1s from the 2014 list than 2012 and 2013 combined as both Ella Eyre and Sam Smith have already had one as featured artists. Sam Smith has another big hit and both have 2 smaller hits. George Ezra, Luke Sital-Singh and Sampha have also already had minor hits. No album chart success from 2014 just yet though.

January 14, 201411 yr Author You're missing "Sweet Nothing" for Florence + the Machine in the 2009 list. Because that was Florence Welch, not Florence + The Machine :P Would be no different to (for example) adding in Kele's solo hits in the 2005 list IMO.

I have deeply considered this question already don't worry ~ As far as I can tell the (physical) album tracklist only credits Skrillex as a feature and it was never actually given a proper single release here (well, there isn't one on iTunes anyway) so I stick to the album crediting in this case. Although, Wikipedia does have single artwork for it that credits Birdy Nam Nam and the music video on iTunes (and YouTube) also credits him so actually I think I will change it on reflection.

Still no other songs from 2014 acts as lead artists even making the top 40 though, with 'Lay Me Down' becoming the second highest peaking 2014 track excluding features.
