We have introduced some limitations on the size and content of signatures to make it easier to focus on the content as well as to allow pages to load faster. Below are the settings which are effective immediate and can also be viewed when editing your signature.

 

No more than 3 images with a total size not exceeding 1MB

Maximum size of one image should not exceed 600 x 300

Maximum size of all images should not exceed 600 x 450

No more than 5 URL's

No more than 5 lines

Most signatures will still be OK but some of the bigger ones both in terms of dimensions and size will need to be removed. Any questions or issues with the settings let me know below!

The only thing I can see from the new rules is that your two images combined are over 1MB?

total image is 1000 x 353 and the max is 600 * 450. I have changed the max to be 1000 x 450. There is still a limit on each image of 600 x 300. Can you try again and let me know what error you receive (if any)?

It's working perfectly now (*.*) - it must need a 1000 pixel width to enable two images (one on top of the other) of 500 pixels width each in the signature. Thanks! :D

Why ?

One link and some words are enough, if anybody wants to promote something (for simple : his / her personal chart).

The pictures for other things are even more pointless. :)

I agree with Alex. There's no real need for pictures/gifs and half of them aren't even amusing anyway.

Errr...I'm not the biggest fan of some images/gifs, but if people want to put them in a sig, then they have every right too. I don't think its 'pointless' at all, it allows someone to express themselves or a point of interest, plus you get the odd one that quite inspired and nice to look at sometimes. If you don't like them, then you can very easily turn them off.

If people don't like them turn them off. I haven't had signatures on since I joined and I've been here since the beginning. They always have been, and always will be, awful but if you don't have to see them there's nothing to get bothered about.

I never implied that people didn't have the right (I didn't read that bit of Alex's post) and yes, sometimes the odd picture/gif can be interesting or amusing. But I do feel as if the vast majority of them are put in for no good reason whatsoever.

 

And yes maybe now is the best time to put signatures on Ignore.

I find it ironic that Griff, of all people, is the one to remark about that considering he always had signatures about 10x the size of everybody else's / 10x more irritating than everybody else's.

the restrictions are a compromise between different types of user who want different types of content. In the future there will be the possibility to switch off a single persons signature but for now this is an improvement on what we had before!

Pretty sure people have their reasons for wanting whatever is in their siggies to be there. Who are you to say they are there for no good reason?
