June 13, 201411 yr You'd assume that the referee would have been more likely to give the disallowed goal after the soft-ish penalty to balance things out if it weren't Brazil. Not outrageous that they got the better of two decisions but it will be if it carries on. Three decisions - Neymar could easily have been sent off for elbowing Modric. Even Alan Shearer thought it should have been a red card and he knows more than most about elbowing opponents.
June 13, 201411 yr Today's when the World Cup really starts :D Reckon the the first two games will be draws, and expecting Chile to win 4 or 5 to nil.
June 13, 201411 yr Where have they found these refs/officials???? Absolute shower of morons the lot of them.
June 13, 201411 yr Where have they found these refs/officials???? Absolute shower of morons the lot of them. They take officials from around the world. Considering the standard of our top referees, in the better leagues with more publicity, it was only going to be expected that some officials are fairly awful!
June 13, 201411 yr FIFA really need to make sure they select the best officials regardless of where they come from. If that means come countries provide two or three sets then so be it. The second disallowed Mexican goal was a terrible decision.
June 13, 201411 yr I missed the two disallowed goals, so I haven't seen them to judge but it sounds a bit ridiculous no? Hoping for at least one match without a dodgy decision then.

The second disallowed Mexican goal was a terrible decision. They really should. Instead of people pleasing they should take the best refs/officials. As Roo says the better leagues have such high standard of refs why should we be left with crap from ROTW when good refs miss out?

But saying that we provided Graham Poll who yellow carded the same player three times, and Howard Webb who failed to do anything when de Jong kung-foo kicked Alonso.
June 13, 201411 yr Author Spain's line up is frightening Netherlands less so. Didn't realise De Guzman and Vlaar were starters for them
June 13, 201411 yr Spain against Netherlands should be an interesting match, I think the match will be a draw 1-1.
June 13, 201411 yr Netherlands in general are pretty dire now, but their front three is pretty spectacular. Was hoping Spain might have started Villa. Be interesting to see how Costa gets along.
June 13, 201411 yr I'd say it is a 3-0 win for Spain. There's no way The Netherlands are going to tie or win Edited June 13, 201411 yr by *Tim
June 13, 201411 yr Spain always start slow in major tournaments, really wouldn't surprise me if Spain drop points here. Spain aren't clinical enough, they don't have the best finishers as their attacking players compared to other teams.
