Wow at the Spain - Netherlands match. The Netherlands were just fantastic and as a Man United fan that pleases me seeing as soon as the Dutch our out their manager is ours.

I am here to support Australia, am draped in my flag, as they get absolutely slaughtered by Chile.

I thought Man Utd fans would be pleased about how Netherlands were today. I would I would share your optimism, but then I remembered the current Man Utd squad :D :P

There is some hope for a semi-decent transfer window that could at least help us start to rebuild and keep pace with the top5/6.

Surprised it took Chile this long tbh. They should take a strong 3-0 victory here I think at least which would really put the pressure on Spain.

I think that's where you'll finish, but lot of fans I know expect Man Utd to be certs for Top 4.

Australia are going to be the whipping boys. If Chile score a bucketload here, really think Spain will go out at the group stages.

Perhaps I should make that 4-0 at least...

Second goal was better than the first I thought but both were rather good.

Chile are outplaying poor Australia at every turn. Eek. Spain are in serious serious trouble now I think.

If we can get Europa next year we'll have done very well. Year after that though I think we could be in with a top4 shout.

Poor lads, they really are. They got drawn into a group where they were going to struggle to get a goal never mind a point.

I agree. Chile vs Spain is going to be an exciting game. Based on tonight Chile could walk out the group 2nd on GD. Spain/Chile won't get past Brazil regardless like.

Expecting a total wipeout with a few goals in the net from Chile, Spain will definitely have to score goals in the remaining matches.

Chile are amazing. I backed them to win the World Cup outright. I can't see any team beating Chile in the group, Spain have got to hope Chile beat Netherlands, and they themselves can run up a cricket score against Australia (unlikely though due to their style)

If Spain played like they did tonight, you've got to wonder if Australia might be able to hold them to a draw. They are being outclassed somewhat tonight but they aren't a bad side.

f***ing YES! What a brilliant goal by Cahill!!!!!! :cheer:

Going to get SMASHED on Aussie wine at half time (if I can find any)

Was not expecting Australia to get back in the game at all. So pleased. Just hope they can keep it up and Group B could be seriously interesting.

Seems like Australia are the better team this half

Can they pull at least a draw?

I will be heartbroken if Australia can't pull a point from this. They more than deserve it. They've just been absolutely brilliant this half and my god, Matt Leckie has been sublime!

Poor Australia :(

Chili to beat Spain now please

Good game again. Australia played well, and got their tactics right after going 2-0 down.

Chile are the Liverpool of the World Cup, can't defend, but will outscore you :D

I am distraught for Australia. They deserved a point from this match and were by far the better side in that second half.

The Ivory Coast ref made some shit decisions along the way. So many fouls against Australia went ignored but he invented at least one that Australia didn't make.

Matt Leckie has to be my man of the match. Some brilliant runs from him and some great crosses to boot.

Spain always start slow in major tournaments, really wouldn't surprise me if Spain drop points here.

They don't always start slow, in Euro 2008 Spain were truly unstoppable winning every match with some of the best football I've ever seen. Easily my favourite Spain team of this golden generation era.

For Holland it's a case of "if only" it would be them who would have the gold star and World Cup logo badge on their shirts instead of Spain if they did this 4 years ago. Robben and Van Persie were the men of the match imo and I loved Van Persie's 1st goal and Robben's 2nd goal.

Spain need Pedro as an outlet, particularly without Navas on the bench. Costa can't do it on his own.

Only managed to watch the first half, but I was pleasantly surprised at how Australia played and got back into the game after being 2 goals down

Not quite the whipping boys as predicted
