Wasn't sure whether to answer that one or not lol

I did hesitate myself lol, especially as Fearne and Reggie had just plugged it a few minutes before on the show.

The worst Christmas TOTP ever. Surely they could have roped Passenger in? And they should consider showing videos again-it's ridiculoue Daft Punk, Robin Thicke and Avicii had mere glimpses when they are million selling singles-that would have been preferable to Tom zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Odell and The Saturdays who just looked bored-and thus, finally connecting with their audience!!!
On New Year's Eve.

Yes, obviously I know that. That's why I referenced it in my post. :) I was implying WHAT TIME is it on.

Thank you!

You know I can't help thinking that after trying to axe it a couple of years ago and then having to unaxe it due to lots of complaints, they may now be trying to deliberately lose viewers so they can justify reaxing it in another year or two. I hope I'm wrong though. Of course the other problem is the annual viewers are getting older each year (I'm nearly 31 now btw) and the younger viewers (ie the teens and early twenties who were once TOTPs target) are mostly not gonna start watching each year so gradually the current music of the year will stop appealing to the die hard audience who watch out of tradition and the viewing figures are likely to drop off year-on-year anyway.

Quite a bad show this year, although I think the NYE could be better judging by the acts involved. As much as I hate the song, Rudimental & Ella Eyre gave the best performance by a long way, most of the others weren't bad just forgettable. Boyzone though, seriously?! I can understand they couldn't get a lot of the big artists, but that defines barrel scraping.

Hmm I actually didn't find TOTP bad at all this year. The few years before that were quite rubbish if I'm being honest. It just makes me wish the show would return for good :(

One Republic (Ryan particularly) & Ellie Goulding were the best of the show and Jessie J by far the worst. The Voice hasn't really done her any good for me. Her whole persona she puts on when performing really irritates me...

I'm anticipating the NYE show now :D

I don't understand why they can't just get the big international acts in and record performances from them whenever they're in the country throughout the year, and then store up the performances for the Xmas special. Surely it wouldn't be too much effort just to throw together a basic studio set and just get a Never Mind the Buzzcocks audience in for a few minutes to watch? I'm sure the likes of Robin Thicke and Katy Perry would've been happy to record a performance for them if they tried to accommodate them, even though it's too much to ask for them to fly over in December specially for it. It just seems like a lack of basic forward-thinking on the BBC's part.

They really can't be bothered. It really screams of I guess this will do to keep the c**ts that want this on every year happy.

I watched the show and for the first half hour I thought that most of the acts were not good at singing live. The vocal performance was often muted and drowned out, by the music, especially when the act was talking in the verses.

Fearn and Reggie are kid show presenters, because that's how the BBC see TOTP.

However we need a chart show each week now, just to stop the ridicules following of what the USA wants to send our way via iTunes. With downloads making the charts responsive to TV airplay now, a proper music show (not necessarily TOTP) can place new acts in the charts. If these were UK acts not currently in the charts, that would certainly be a good thing don't you think?

I thought it was a bit odd that Sam Bailey wans't on to actually sing the Christmas number 1. Other X Factor winners have done that in the past. In fact, has she actually performed the song anywhere at all yet, since winning? Bit strange that she's not had any promo at all.

The show was taped weeks ago, before they knew who was going to win X-Factor, so they wouldn't have booked Sam to sing (mind you I'm pretty sure that t**t Arthur was on last year)

I was watching the TOTP Christmas 1978 last night and they just had Noel Edmonds introducing performances of the biggest hits of the year-they should adopt this with future TOTP Christmas shows-show videos, live performances and promo performances (from Graham Norton, CIN, Strictly)-and get Rufus Hound or maybe Keith Lemon to do the links. Simples-no studio costs or performance fees. And we get a true account of the year!!!!

Not exactly inspiring this year. Was expecting maybe more of some DJs....

Normally though Reggie or Fearne simply says "and now here's this years Xmas number one..." and the additional performance is recorded after and stitched relatively seamlessly into the show. In fact that was how they seem to have set it up this year, but only slotted in the video. I think Sam may be the first X Factor winner to not actually film a performance for them. Perhaps Simon was too upset about the Beeb' Strictly beating his show every single week on the audience ratings this year to let his act film an appearance on the other side.

Tbh I can see Syco rushing out an album for Mothers day for Sam and her being dropped by summer and X factor having some tweaks and new format with Simon back and basically not mentioning and forgetting Sam ever existed or that this years show happened.

Some years they have had one of the presenters announcing the Christmas number one but not on camera. In other words, they just record the introduction once they know who is number one.
