Posted December 9, 201311 yr i know she's had a topic in retro but i thought it'd be good to start a topic here as she's evidently been a massive inspiration for a lot of what we all listen to. the greatest singer-songwriter of all time? i would say so. tori, newsom, fiona apple and a whole host of dissimilar bands wouldn't exist i imagine without her. to me she is a total one of a kind, incredibleeeee woman who has changed the face of indie/alt music singlehandedly. i would go as far to say she has never put out a bad record. thoughts etc
December 9, 201311 yr The best pop star of all time, hands down. Anyone who hasn't gotten into her yet is really doing themselves a disservice. I literally still get chills when I watch Running Up That Hill?

December 9, 201311 yr exactly. though, realistically how 'pop is she' (outside of 1979...) Her records are all pop records 2 me - I guess I just use that term fairly loosely. Very weird, intricate, beautiful pop music, but still pop music.
December 9, 201311 yr I absolutely adore her. Fascinating woman, and each album is so interesting in its own way. Nobody is and ever will be like her, it's just a shame she doesn't release more often :( The Dreaming, The Kick Inside, Aerial and Hounds Of Love are her best works in my opinion. Wuthering Heights especially is comfortably inside my top 5 songs of all time, absolutely perfect - no other words for it.

December 9, 201311 yr to think she was 14 when she IMAGINED it SUBLIME~ Woah, I didn't know that :o To majorly write a song like that at 18/19 is impressive, but wow!
December 9, 201311 yr The greatest ever female artist without exception. I may be understating her brilliance
December 9, 201311 yr I only know three of her songs and they're all incredible. I really should get into her back catalogue.
December 9, 201311 yr Woah, I didn't know that :o To majorly write a song like that at 18/19 is impressive, but wow! No, she was a bit older when she wrote Wow :P
December 9, 201311 yr What can I say about Kate Bush. Her music has completely underpinned my life. Most of her albums have been fantastic and even the two exceptions (The Red Shoes and Director's Cut) have beautiful moments. The best thing David Gilmour ever did was discovering her and then making sure she had the time to develop as a performer and artist. No way would that ever happen now.
December 25, 201311 yr Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy / Come home I'm so cold / Let me in-a-your-window is my favourite pop hook ever I think, it's the perfect alchemy of pathos and catchiness with a lovely bit of intertextuality to boot. Edited December 25, 201311 yr by Daniel.
February 9, 201411 yr It's tremendous (and ever so British) to think that Kate is one of the most defining British popstars and she's a recluse. I love her.
July 30, 20186 yr Kate Bush celebrates her 60th birthday today. Gosh. What a woman. Such a fascinating lady with a tremendous musical mind. The emotion she captures in her songs is like nothing else; similarly the notes and melodies she can create with her voice are utterly mesmerising. Been listening to her music a lot today as well as reading up on the various articles celebrating her landmark birthday. NME: Kate Bush hits 60 today. Mark Beaumont explains why she's an "enigma worthy of the name" Salon: Kate Bush at 60: An exquisite pop genius whose influence endures The Guardian: Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! 60 unbelievable facts about Kate Bush The Independent: Kate Bush playlist: The enduring 40-year fascination of this artist's work
November 19, 20186 yr Author never apologise for bumping a kate bush topic thank you i’m going to listen to her now on the basis of this reminder
November 19, 20186 yr Weird - is it just the live version from Before The Dawn or a new one? (I don't have Flopify) I know there was talk about it being the second single from Aerial for a while.
