February 3, 201411 yr Very impressive album. I feel like it works so well together and is very cohesive. I have to admit I was almost hoping for even more than this though, due to how outstanding CFNR is, but my expectations really were through the roof - she has definitively delivered. The stand outs are certainly the singles, Aaliyah, Still, Emotions and Everything (which really lives up to its title). Edited February 3, 201411 yr by Davidson
February 3, 201411 yr The stand outs are certainly the singles, Aaliyah, Still, Emotions and Everything (which really lives up to its title). Agree 100%. Taking the singles away this is an album that gets stronger and more individual as it progresses. The first few new tracks blur a bit for me.
February 3, 201411 yr Agree 100%. Taking the singles away this is an album that gets stronger and more individual as it progresses. The first few new tracks blur a bit for me. Yeah completely, the first 4 tracks and the last 5 all work so well. The middle 3 are far less memorable for me too.
February 3, 201411 yr Sounds great on first full listen! I can't help feeling slightly underwhelmed but I think I may have overdone it with the snippets and developed stupidly high expectations :P The tracks that I couldn't wait to hear in full, like 'Everything', 'Emotions' and 'Tumbling Down' didn't quite blow me away as much as anticipated. They're still near-flawless though (wasn't expecting 'Emotions' to explode like nobody's business towards the end  ). I also have a new-found love for 'I Like You', which really stands out in the context of the album and could make a great single IMO. Obviously 'Still' was magnificent in high-quality - that's still my favourite. I've a feeling many of the songs are growers so I'll reserve full judgement until the album sits a while :D
February 3, 201411 yr Given a very broken listen through an iTunes stream that did not want to buffer. Utterly stunned. Had to go back and revisit 'Still' which is so so darling. I will give it another proper listen before judging, but it's looking to have potentially lived up to the massive hype for me which i thought was going to be impossible.
February 4, 201411 yr Very impressed on first listen through the iTunes stream, a very consistent album in terms of quality. Everything is my immediate favourite, possibly the next single?
February 4, 201411 yr After a few listens: 07.5 Next Thing 09.5 5am 10 Aaliyah 11 Crying For No Reason 09 I Like You 09 All My Lovin' 07.5 Tumbling Down 10 Everything 09 Play 08.5 Sapphire Blue 09 Emotions 10 Still Still is an 11 too really (absolutely gorgeous!) but CFNR has song of the year potential.
February 5, 201411 yr Been thinking about what she should release as the next single and although the blindingly obvious one to me is 'Still' (which'd sound great on radio and would surely smash, right?), it's perhaps a little too similar stylistically to 'Crying'. It wouldn't exactly showcase the variation on the album and may pigeon-hole her as a melancholic electro-pop balladeer, possibly alienating some fans  . So now I'm envisioning 'Still' being pushed for Q4 album sales, complete with big promo, including X-Factor performance (assuming she gets big enough in the meantime to nab one ;)) I'm thinking 'Aaliyah' would work well as the next single - could have a great video, has the added interest of Jessie Ware and thematically would stand out in the market. 'I Like You' has an infectious hook and could make a good summer release? Although I'd be happy with most getting the single treatment apart from 'Play' and 'Sapphire Blue'. 'Everything' and 'Tumbling Down' are great but I'm not convinced they'd make good singles. Edited February 5, 201411 yr by noahspike
February 7, 201411 yr It's taken me a day to say that I have NO WORDS to describe this album but utter brilliance. A major step up from her debut, she's set the standard for 2014 definitely! I can't pick any standouts yet, every song literally grabs as much as the one before it.
February 7, 201411 yr Commercially, she should definitely go with 'Emotions' and 'Still' as the forthcoming singles imo. This is what the general public want from her, vocal theatrics Katy.
February 7, 201411 yr Why is 'Play' not clicking with me!? On paper it's like one of my dream collabs but it just isn't working atm :(
February 8, 201411 yr Play is gorgeous, and I don't usually like Sampha's voice  Still is just... astounding though. Seriously must be a single, perhaps it's too similar to CFNR to be next but I think it's what the public want from her so why not?
February 8, 201411 yr Completely agree on 'Still'. Similar or not it's another masterpiece and shouldn't be denied single treatment.
February 8, 201411 yr In addition to 'Still' y'all are forgetting 'Emotions' :snif: Both need to be singles, she's the nu Adele now k
February 8, 201411 yr Too early to declare it the best album of 2014? I'm not even sure it is. EVERYTHING.
February 9, 201411 yr Just heard the deluxe tracks in full for the first time. 'Stay Down' is by far my favourite and should have been on the standard edition. One of the strongest melodies of the whole album IMO. Not really feeling 'Blue Eyes' and 'Sky's The Limit' as of now but they might be growers.
