December 16, 201311 yr I'm guessing the adding and dropping of last names made them forget about Billie and Cheryl lol
December 16, 201311 yr Congratulations Leona!! Its a shame Trouble didn't do it as its a great song, but One More Sleep is my new christmas jam :)
December 16, 201311 yr Has there really been no British female to score more than 8?! I mean, Madonna's had 45 according to Wikipedia, so it's a bit of a poor show if a 'native' hasn't been able to get a fifth of that? Edited December 16, 201311 yr by Harve
December 16, 201311 yr Forgive Me, Better In Time and Collide all got there without XF performances and then Bleeding Love and Run would have been huge regardless. Stay pressed. Haha told him straight. Funny to see people still being bitter. Also those saying oh she'll be overtaken soon, I doubt 'soon' especially as she is likely to have more top 5 hits to come. Amazing achievement.
December 17, 201311 yr if the Australian Olivia Newton John is in the list why not Kylie... her mother was born in Wales and she has a British passport, she has 25+ top 5 singles Edited December 17, 201311 yr by kindagood
December 17, 201311 yr I'm guessing the adding and dropping of last names made them forget about Billie and Cheryl lol What's their excuse for forgetting about Louise then?
December 17, 201311 yr What's their excuse for forgetting about Louise then? Cheryl has only had 5?
December 17, 201311 yr Cheryl has only had 5? They're probably counting 'Heartbreaker' which was Will.I.Am feat. Cheryl Cole (even though she was hardly on it!)
December 17, 201311 yr Regarding Olivia Newton-John - The OCC are not counting the 1998 Re-Issue, (No.4), of 'You're The One That I Want', as one of her Top 5 Hits. They count it in 1978 only. If we only count a Solo Female's completely Solo Hits, then Olivia has only had 2 of those. Jessie J has had 6 Top 5 Hits, but only 3 were completely Solo. Emeli Sande has had 6, but 2 were collaborations. Although Leona's 8 Top 5 Hits is a UK Solo Female Chart Record, if we take the Charts back to 1940, then Anne Shelton had 7 Top 5 Hits by October 1952, & a 1956 No.1 Hit. So she has had 8. Vera Lynn's only had 1 Top 5 Hit, since November 1952 - a 1954 No.1. But, between January 1940 & October 1952 she had 26 Top 5 Hits - 6 of them at No.1. So she has had 27 Top 5 Hits, & 7 of them were No.1's.
December 17, 201311 yr Doesn't Emeli have 6 technically as well? Heaven, Clown, Next To Me, Beneath Your Beautiful, Read All About It and Read All About It Part III.
December 17, 201311 yr if the Australian Olivia Newton John is in the list why not Kylie... her mother was born in Wales and she has a British passport, she has 25+ top 5 singles Olivia Newton-John is British, born here and her family emigrated to Australia...
December 17, 201311 yr I'd say ON-J is a British-born Australian, her family moved there when she was very little. The Australians certainly seem to think of her as one of them.
December 17, 201311 yr Regarding Olivia Newton-John - The OCC are not counting the 1998 Re-Issue, (No.4), of 'You're The One That I Want', as one of her Top 5 Hits. They count it in 1978 only. Actually they are counting the 1998 Re-Issue of 'You're The One That I Want' as one of her top 5 hits, it even states that in the article at the start of this thread. The seven hits are : You're The One That I Want - 1978 - 1 Summer Nights - 1978 - 1 Hopelessly Devoted To You - 1978 - 2 A Little More Love - 1978 - 4 Xanadu - 1980 - 1 The Grease Megamix - 1990 - 3 You're The One That I Want - 1998 - 4
December 17, 201311 yr Yesterday The OCC told me that they could not get 7 Top 5 Hits for Olivia. They got 6. They asked me if I was counting 'You're The One That I Want' twice - I was. They were not. They obviously changed their minds when they wrote the Article. It still means that she has only had 2 truly Solo Top 5 Hits. Edited December 17, 201311 yr by zeus555
