Posted December 18, 201311 yr Been looking forward to this film for a while now (Martin Scorsese + Leo DiCaprio = Magic) but it's just been given five stars from both Empire Magazine AND Total Film. It looks absolutely brilliant. iszwuX1AK6A
January 18, 201411 yr this movie will be fantastic!!! Just was reminded im seeing it in 2 weeks and so watched the trailer again and really looking forward to it. I work in banking so maybe will be a different angle for me but I believe it brings together the years of excess and how nothing can last forever. Many critics have given it the thumbs up apart from the FT who probably by their very nature need to be critical of a movie about banker excess :D
January 19, 201411 yr Author It was brilliant (a little bit long) but so, so good and hilarious! I really don't understand how Jonah Hill has been given a nod for his performance at the Oscars though, as he doesn't seem to be too different to how he usually is in films anyway  (but I'm a Jonah fan anyway so I still loved it.) Leo DiCaprio though... Brilliant! Really deserves an Oscar, maybe not over Chiwetel (?) but I wouldn't mind if he was to win in his place! Just a great film that balances the humour and the more heavy stuff perfectly with a stellar cast who are all on form!
January 22, 201411 yr This is top class. I agree with Jonjo a little bit too long (could have shaved off half an hour quite easily) but so brilliant regardless. The scene where they take the lemons is brilliant. Definitely recommend to anyone.
January 25, 201411 yr just seen it, several scenes were largely superfluous or overlong, the cast was great, Jonah Hill showed he can actually act (as opposed to being Jonah Hill as he usually is, albeit likeably) and it prob set a new record for naked women and the f word in a single major movie. The moral compass of the film, FBI agent played by past TV fave of mine Kyle Chandler has the best scene of the film. It's short, dialogue free, and poignant. Joanna Lumley is great as is Dujardin, and of course Leonardo absolutely dominates the film. Funny at times, affecting here and there, well-written. I preferred Hugo overall, but a good movie...
February 3, 201411 yr I watched this movie last week. Leonardo DiCaprio was quite good (as always) but his acting reminded me some of his past roles ("Aviator", "The Great Gatsby"). I'm sure that I have seen this acting from him in the past. The movie has many hilarious scenes and the dialogues are quite funny. The problem with the movie is the whole meaning..A cheater stole money of his customers, he had parties almost every day, and when the police arrested him, he is sentenced to 36 months in a minimum security prison. When there are minor cheaters with more years in prison...Tragic!! I know that it's not Martin's fault because the movie is based on a true story but the meaning and the purpose of the story is very debatable..By the way, my country has financial crisis due to this kind of people..Unfortunately, we had (have) many "Jordan Belfort" here... p.s I hadn't problem with the length of the movie..It's amazing how fast time flies by and you don't even realize it!!!
