10 Zedd feat. Foxes – Clarity

Peaked: #1 (2wks)

One of my favourite dance tracks of 2013, its so catchy and infectious featuring Foxes on vocals, love the production over the track, its easily one of the best dance tracks of 2013, I just wish the track did better in the official chart.

09 Lana Del Rey vs. Cedric Gervais – Summertime Sadness

Peaked: #3

Now is the turn of the voice from the sultry Lana Del Rey with a Cedric Gervais remix of Summertime Sadness, peaking at No.3 earlier in the year and spend 16 weeks plus in my personal chart, became another firm favourite dance track of 2013 after Clarity. There is a few more dance tracks yet to come.

08 P!nk feat. Nate Ruess – Give Me A Reason

Peaked: #2

P!nk makes a high return to my year to date chart with an infectious track with Nate Ruess of fun. this is P!nk at her best since her #1 hit "Just Like A Pill" from her second studio album "Misunderstood". The track never gets old its probably the best stand out track from her latest studio album "The Truth About Love".

07 CHVRCHES – The Mother We Share

Peaked: #1 (2wks)

Probably the best stand out track from their album "The Bones Of What You Believe", vocally is just spot on and never strays off, the track is just beautiful and very catchy, their album is just amazing, its one of my favourite albums of 2013, peaking at #2 in my year to date album chart, other great tracks from them are "Lies", " Recover", and "Gun" the album never disappoints, not even 1 bad track, totally recommend it.

6 Little Daylight – Overdose

Peaked: #1 (4wks)

Nothing much is known about this act, the track was more of a discovery, with a catchy hook, catchy chorus and still as good and sounds very fresh. The track spend 4 weeks at #1 and became a firm long stayer in my personal chart, it just never got old, I just didn't what the track to drop but it had to end eventually.

05 Calvin Harris feat. Ellie Goulding – I Need Your Love

Peaked: #1 (3wks)

Calvin Harris came back with a smash collaborating with Ellie Goulding on vocals, its catchy and very infectious number with a cool production over the track, peaked at #1 for 3 weeks in my personal chart, Ellie continued with her single success with a solo #1 with "Burn" in the official chart for 3 weeks and was chosen for this year's Children In Need single "How Long Will I Love You", and had massive album chart success with her second studio album "Halycon". Surely a hot tip to sweep up at the Brits in the new year at least a Brit for the best British female artist.

4 Le Youth - C O O L

Peaked: #1 (4wks)

Sultry voice, sultry lyrics, fresh new sound and fresh new artist, this classy little number really caught my eye for the smooth lyrics and bounces along nicely and spends #1 for 4 weeks inside my personal chart. The track gave a good innings in the official chart but never peaked inside top 20, shame its just a great dance choon to listen to in the summer breeze.

3 London Grammar - Strong

Peaked: #1 (4ks)

London Grammar walked off with the #1 album of the year for me, their single "Strong" had to settle for second runners up spot. Hannah's voice is just soft and easy to listen to with a moving melody, the lyrics are just perfection. This is easily the best stand out track from their debut studio album "If You Want", other tracks that stick out are "Wasting My Young Years", and "Nightcall" and on the deluxe version the band collaborated with Disclosure on "Help Me Lose My Mind", not even 1 bad track on the album.

2 OneRepublic - Counting Stars

Peaked: #1 (2wks)

If there was 1 track that I never thought it do that well... well I was wrong "Counting Stars" is one of the catchiest track of the year, the track has got everything, catchy hook, catchy melody, great production... Counting Stars exceeded my expectations and has earned a top 2 place in my year to date chart. The track still feels fresh and never gets old. Currently the track is still in my personal chart for its 16th week lingering top 30.

01 Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams – Get Lucky

Peaked: 1 (6wks)

Now... its time for some 80s disco dancing... Daft Punk return with a stomper of a dance track "Get Lucky" with the help from Pharrell Williams and the legendary Nile Rodgers  earning them a 6 week run at #1 in my personal chart. For some reason the track is just pure excellance, unique and I never thought Daft Punk would ever get a #1 in this era, its just the catchiest dance choon of 2013. They haven't had a decent follow up single to "Get Lucky" I guess this would be one of those finest dance tracks to ever grace the official chart at #1 of 2013 and puts dance music back on the map with other artists from Duke Dumont, Martin Garrix, Storm Queen and the likes of Rudimental which unfortunately just missed out on a placing inside my year to date chart having an official dance #1 to their name.

Great minds think alike :D I just love my top 10 everything just fits into place, usually the dance genre is not my thing, but this year the content of dance music has been great, with some Indie music thrown in, most of the Indie material iare discoveries from UP and BJSC that never trouble the official charts, there is some good music out there when you can find it, like the current NONONO track and Keep Shelly... etc etc.

Thanks for commenting.

I think Get Lucky will be one of those tracks that will be remembered after time down the line, its just unique, different and deserves to be the biggest selling single of the year instead of that joke of a track from Robin Thicke which is beginning to irritate me like hell now.

Thanks Mark

Great choice of #1 single; Nile Rodgers kills it with his guitar lick - I don't think I have been so instantly obsessed about a song, and a popular song at that, for such a long time. I just wish it had been the number 1 in the UK for 2013 but unfortunately that absolutely DIRE "Blurred Lines" has run away with it, proving that by putting a bunch of tits on screen... along with some naked women (ha ha) is still enough to sell records - even the most insensitive misogynist can see that the entire premise of that song is just wrong.

I am also enjoying from your Top 40 the wonderful "Strong" (although I personally prefer "Wasting My Young Years") and "C O O L", both of which definitely deserved to do much better on the official chart. Great also to see "The Mother We Share", "Attracting Flies", "You & Me", "White Noise", "5 AM", "So High", "Breathe This Air" and "Running To The Sea" represented - all excellent tracks!

Finally a big YAY at Autre Ne Veut charting - "Counting" is an amazing track.

Thank you Danny, most of my chart hits have not even struck the official top 40. I also agree some tracks could have done better in the UK charts, especially Le Youth, CHVRCHES. Autre Ne Veut was more of a discovery, I just found the band through someone's personal chart on here and the band clicked on me. That's way I love the personal chart forum as its open to find new material and discoveries from acts I didn't know existed.

Hi Mart!n,

great seeing Woodkid and Gotye in the top 5 for 2012, and I really can't omit any from your 2013 chart, though there's a couple I half-recall (from early Buzzjack contests for me) and probably should have charted. Burn, Pumpin Blood & High Hopes are the three main omissions from my 100 (just missed) and Nonono should re-chart and increase it's "sales" in my chart in 2014 - just waiting for official release as reason

thanks for all the great entries to contests, pretty much like them all!

cheers

john

'Love Me Again' is one of my songs of the year. No matter how many times I hear it, I cannot tire of it! His two follow-ups have been good as well although not of the same standard as this.

Nice to see '5 AM' enter too - this made me really excited for Katy B's second album after 'What Love is Made of' which was a bit of an underwhelming track (although it seems that's been removed from the tracking list now).

Great #1 album, it's very consistent and you need to listen to it in full to properly enjoy it but it's still a lovely album. Lead vocalist Hannah has a beautiful voice too.

ooops, I missed you, mind you my top 10 is added now :P
