I'm surprised but it took me a little while to think of what albums were yet to come! I'm really out of the loop with albums at the moment. :o

I believe they are:

Adele - 21

Emeli Sandé - Our Version of Events

Michael Bublé - Christmas

Take That - Progress

Great thread. :D

04. CHRISTMAS- Michael Buble (7-4-4) 2,025,864

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8e/MichaelBuble-Christmas(2011)-Cover.png

Another Christmas, another surge in sales for this album which was back in the top 10 by the year end and selling a further 230k in 2013. All of this of course with nothing added to it song wise since the deluxe version last Christmas- any takers on this NOT making the top 10 at Christmas 2014? It also virtually reinvigorated the concept of “Christmas album” with its success, certainly in a commercial sense.

03. OUR VERSION OF EVENTS- Emeli Sande (10-3) 2,075,777

http://nme.assets.ipccdn.co.uk/images/gallery/EmeliSandeOurVersionOfEvents600Gb.jpg

Becoming the third album this decade to top the 2 million mark (doing so in October) Sande could easily be accused of over exposure in 2012/13, this returned to the No 1 spot for 3 weeks in total during 2013 thanks in the main to BRITS success in February. Spending a record 66 weeks consecutively in the top 10 she seemed the only person capable in 2013 of selling vast quantities of albums becoming not only the best selling album of 2012 but also leading the 2013 list until the final week of the year.

2. PROGRESS- Take That (1-2-2-2) 2,365,600

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6b/Progress_(Take_That_album_-_cover_art).jpg

Easy now to forget just how quickly this flew off the shelves three years ago with sales of 1.8 million in its first 6 weeks on sale fuelled by the first single “The Flood”, 518,000 of those sales in week one, the second highest weekly tally for an album EVER. Those sales were in part due to the return of Robbie making the band a five piece for the first time since 1995, and a June 2011 re-release tied in with their first tour together since 94 and Father’s day, result? A return to the top of course, despite those sales it isn’t their biggest seller, it’s still some 300k short of “Beautiful World”, a lag it isn’t likely to make up as it sold the least amount in 2013 of any album in the top 10 on this list.

And naturally the No 1....

1. 21- Adele (1-1-1) 4,681,300

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3d/21_(Adele_album_-_cover_art).jpg

Easily selling over 120k in 2013 “21” only fell out of the top 100 late last year after two and a half years on the survey. It does of course still house the biggest selling single of the decade in “Someone Like You” and in addition a total of 3 US No 1 singles along with countless other records for its achievements on the UK chart where it is the 4th biggest selling album of all time. Still with sales double that of the runner up album could anything challenge Adele by the end of the decade?

2,075,777

And only 1.5 million of those sales for Emeli were by Calum Sande.

And only 1.5 million of those sales for Emeli were by Calum Sande.

As for the rest, I assume Emeli must have forked out for them herself? No other explanation possible.

Another excellent thread, thanks for posting.
Hey I bought Emelie Sandes album. It's very good

It's certainly the best of the Top 10 (in my opinion)

I think Buble will overtake Sande and even TT by decade end probably with Xmas but I think Adele is beyond reach to say the least! Its sad but I can hardly see a new album topping 2mil any time soon. With decreasing sales year on year and few artists who can be relied on to shift that much its going to become unusual. Maybe someone like Ed Sheeran will trickle there if his next Album's a hit. Even 1D who are a bona fide phenomenon are only scraping 1mil with one album so far. Maybe Take That have a shot with their next album as their last 4 (!) Have managed it but I think its uphill struggle even for them with an increasing tendency to regress toward the mean

Gezza, brilliant rundown and I'm very appreciative. One little thing that frustrates is the wording of this quote I'm commonly seeing alongside Emeli Sande now....

"Spending a record 66 weeks consecutively in the top 10"

The record for consecutive top 10 weeks is actually held by Adele, with 71.

Sande's record is only for a debut album, which really is much less significant, but the word 'debut' is commonly dropped now which is sneaky.

E.g. Biggest selling album ever: Everyone knows is Thriller

Biggest selling debut album ever: No one ever asks!
