I'm not too sure. The fact that so many tracks have been leaked and that this really doesn't seem like something Madonna would do (as shown by her "artistic rape" comments) suggests to me that it isn't. I suppose it doesn't really matter if it is a publicity thing because 1) it's working and 2) we've got 6 great tracks in studio form as a result!

So happy about this! Huge promotion for the US and I'm sure many other countries will see an effect.

I believe this will be her 5th time performing - others being 2014 with Macklemore, 2006 with Gorillaz, 2001 and 1999.

Grammy performances usually see an affect here, don't they?

1999 - nothing really matters

2001 - music

2006 - hung up (wasn't with gorillaz at all just on straight after)

2014 - same love/open your heart with Macklemore

2015 - living for love

The Grammy Awards certainly get talked about here so I assume they do have an effect. 'Hung Up' climbed 18-17 then 17-16 following the Grammys and 'Nothing Really Matters' had huge first week sales for a #7 (73k) so I guess it must.

Ah right, I was just going from a YouTube video title which seemed to suggest they collaborated.

I still think it is crazy that the Grammys ignored Madonna throught the 80's!!!

I thought that when I was looking for her Grammy performances. Perhaps they did ask her but she was busy?

Track lengths revealed:

No 5/6 minute long tracks this time then.

Rumours are that Madonna will be performing at this year's BRIT Awards:

A source close to the star tells us: “Madonna wants to perform to the biggest number of people for the maximum impact and there’s no better place for a controversy-filled Madonna performance than the Brits.

"She has already confirmed she will perform at the Grammys, when she will debut the new music.

“But her album is due out on March 9, a month after the LA ceremony, so she wants another large platform to perform her songs on just before it is released.

"She has cleared her diary for the Brits. She knows she needs to really entertain and bring a good show because she’ll want to be the talking point."

REALLY hope this is true as it will not only be huge promotion but a sure spectacle to watch! As I said in the "Dates to Remember" thread, this will be only her second performance at the BRITS, following 1995's performance of 'Bedtime Story'.

She wasnt respected and seen as a credible musician/artist until "Ray Of Light" proved them wrong.

Not even remotely true! From True Blue onwards she had been getting critical praise, and Like a Prayer was hugely well received. To say she was not seen as credible before 98 is laughable.

I think even if that was the case, they'd easily have overlooked that due to how hugely successful she was and how much of a ratings smash the show would be with her on.

I'd suggest that she was just too busy but she's presented awards/picked up awards enough times.

EDIT: Just looking through a couple of BRITs clips, the voice over said Madonna turned down performing at the 2006 awards so that she could perform at the Grammys, so, like I say, it'll be down to scheduling issues that she's only performed once before.

Interested in the Mike Tyson feature (?!)

'Rebel Heart' as album closer! Too early to say it could be one of her best closers considering we've only heard it in demo form?

Interesting that she's gone for some lesser known rapper features. I quite like Nas and Chance the Rapper isn't too bad.

Chance the Rapper :o

'Illuminati' not a bonus track and as high up as #5 (o )(o )
