I think, in the run up to the fiftieth edition that a lot of record companies probably wanted to cash in on the publicity. 2001 has a lot of artists that were rare for Nows back then: Westlife, Five, Jennifer Lopez, Outkast, Daft Punk, Destiny's Child, D12, Dido, Travis, etc.

Mis-teen never changed label they just got lucky their early hits were out at this point. Wheatus were the most lucky since their only 2 big hits fell in this era.

Did Mis-Teeq switch record labels (seeing as they were on Now 49 and Now 50), or did Now just manage to get hold of more contracts in 2001? I know Now 50 had the likes of Westlife, Five and J.Lo which was rare.

They were on the same label, but a lot of the songs on NOW 50 are quite old so I think Sony/Warner/BMG/Telestar decided to let them have a few oldies to make NOW 50 as big as NOW 44.

NOW Drive comes out on the 15th September. Some interesting choices, and again, Pompeii is on it!! There are A LOT of songs that were on NOW Chilled as well. But it's a nice mix.

I'd like to see them, tbh. I used to make my own volumes too, but I remember I used to "release" 6/7 a year and trying to squeeze most UK Top 40 hits. The very first one I made was back in November 2003 and I did them until mid 2006.

It also helped me discover a lot of indie bands from the lower part of the chart and starting to really like them.

I'm still downloading the 00's editions weekly. Gonna get 2003 in a minute. :w00t: Some great songs on here from S Club, Love Inc., Atomic Kitten and Blu Cantrell. But there are so many amazing pop songs that didn't make it like Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex by Rachel Stevens, Free Me/Maybe by Emma or anything from Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 2nd album. :o

Also, for Lu, here is my version of NOW 45. ^_^

Disc 1:

01: Britney Spears - Born to Make You Happy (Radio Edit)

02: S Club 7 - You're My Number One

03: Steps - Say You'll Be Mine

04: Nu Generation - In Your Arms (Rescue Me)

05: Gabrielle - Rise

06: Daphne & Celeste - Ooh Stick You

07: Fierce - Sweet Love 2K

08: All Saints - Pure Shores

09: Christina Aguilera - What a Girl Wants

10: Shania Twain - Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You!)

11: AQUA - Carton Heroes

12: Backstreet Boys - Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely

13: Kelis - Caught Out There

14: *NSYNC - Bye Bye Bye

15: Artful Dodger & Romina Johnson - Movin' Too Fast

16: Vengaboys - Shalala La La

17: Honeyz - Won't Take It Lying Down

18: Northern Line - Love On the Northern Line

19: Five - Don't Wanna Let You Go

20: Chicane featuring Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up

Disc 2

01: Madonna - American Pie

02: Geri Halliwell - Bag It Up

03: Melanie C featuring Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes - Never Be the Same Again

04: Tom Jones & Stereophonics - Mama Told Me Not to Come

05: blink-182 - All the Small Things

06: No Doubt - Ex-Girlfriend

07: Destiny's Child - Say My Name

08: Atomic Kitten - See Ya

09: B*Witched - Jump Down

10: Lene Marlin - Sitting Down Here

11: Moloko - The Time Is Now

12: Basement Jaxx - Bingo Bango

13: Fragma - Toca's Miracle

14: Jessica Simpson - I Wanna Love You Forever

15: Steps - Better the Devil You Know

16: A*Teens - Super Trouper

17: S Club 7 - Two In a Million

18: Westlife - Seasons In the Sun

19: Lolly - Big Boys Don't Cry

20: B*Witched & Ladysmith Black Mambazo - I Shall Be There

Wasn't a big fan of the Garage music that was out at the time. So there's a lot of double appearances on this one.

Amazing version of Now 45... I love the fact that you took the original idea, but managed to include huge songs by artists that would usually never make it on a Now.

My favourite "odd-one-out" has to be No Doubt's "Ex-Girlfriend" ^_^

Thanks, Luciano  And No Doubt make quite a few appearances later on as well. If I ever make 2012 editions you know "Settle Down" and "Looking Hot" will make them. But until then, here's my NOW 46*

*Disclaimer! Disc 2 is dangerously cheesy.

Disc 1:

01: Britney Spears - Oops!...I Did It Again

02: Billie Piper - Day and Night

03: S Club 7 - Reach

04: Kylie Minogue - Spinning Around

05: The Corrs - Breathless

06: Steps - Summer of Love

07: Samantha Mumba - Gotta Tell You

08: Christina Aguilera - I Turn to You

09: Savage Garden - Affrimation

10: Steps - When I Said Goodbye

11: Destiny's Child - Jumpin' Jumpin'

12: Five + Queen - We Will Rock You

13: Eminem - The Real Slim Shady

14: Jennifer Lopez - Let's Get Loud

15: Gabrielle - When A Woman

16: Mary Mary - Shackles

18: Heather Small - Proud

19: Coldplay - Yellow

20: David Gray - Babylon

Disc 2:

01: Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby

02: Spiller featuring Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Groovejet

03: Tom Jones & Mouse T. - Sexbomb (Pepermint Radio Mix)

04: Sonique - Feels So Good

05: Darude - Sandstorm

06: York - On the Beach

07: Alice Deejay - Will I Ever

08: Vengaboys - Uncle John from Jamaica

09: Fem@il - Flee Fly Flo

10: Girl Thing - Last One Standing

11: AQUA - Around the World

12: Made In London - Dirty Water

13: Lolly - Per Sempre Amore (Forever In Love)

14: Mandy Moore - Candy

15: Scooch - The Best Is Yet to Come

16: Steps - Deeper Shade of Blue

17: Atomic Kitten - I Want Your Love

18: Stephen Gately - New Beginning

19: Moby - Porcelain

20: Backsteet Boys - The One

I think there's 3 Steps songs in this one. I was so annoyed when NOW 46 went with "When I Said Goodbye" and "Deeper Shade of Blue", but left out the AMAZING "Summer of Love". This was another one where I started to run out of Pop songs that were big around this time so I randomly thew in Moby and Coldplay

ALSO, if anyone is interested in making some artwork for any of these albums I'd be truly thankful, 'cos I wanna turn these into actual CDs (maybe even make a cute little booklet for each one).

Brought NOW Drive today in Sainsburys for £11. It's not bad actually! Disc 3 has ended up being my fave out of the discs. But they've used that odd version of "Show Me Heaven" again that was on NOW Movies.
Any news on Now That's What I Call A Million? Or at least do we know what is it about?

You missed the opportunity to have double Scooch on Now 46 Spiral *.* For Sure was quite the jam though, I'd have left that on!

Amazing tracklist otherwise - Dirty Water

Aqua's Around The World was such a favourite of mine back then. I remember not being able to cope with the fact that it flopped. Glad to see it on your Now 46!

Amazing tracklist otherwise - Dirty Water

I must've missed it when looking at the official charts because I love that song!

But I'm glad you like it. Here's another one, my version of NOW 47!

Disc 1

01: Madonna - Music

02: Melanie C - I Turn to You (Hex Hector Remix)

03: True Steppers, Dane Bowers & Victoria Beckham - Out of Your Mind

04: Robbie Williams - Rock DJ

05: Britney Spears - Lucky

06: A1 - Take On Me

07: Daphne & Celeste - School's Out

08: Lolly - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

09: *NSYNC - It's Gonna Be Me

10: S Club 7 - Natural

11: Sugababes - Overload

12: Vanessa Amorosi - Absolutely Everybody

13: Billie Piper - Something Deep Inside

14: Anastacia - I'm Outta Love

15: Melanie B - Tell Me

16: Steps - Stomp

17: Spice Girls - Holler

18: Atomic Kitten - Follow Me

19: All Saints - Black Coffee

20: Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Californication

Disc 2:

01: Modjo - Lady (Hear Me Tonight)

02: Kernkraft 400 - Zombie Nation

03: Kylie Minogue - On a Night Like This

04: Madison Avenue - Who the Hell Are You

05: Sonique - Sky

06: Janet Jackson - Doesn't Really Matter

07: Mariah Carey - Against All Odds (No Westlife Version)

08: Texas - In Demand

09: Spice Girls - Let Love Lead the Way

10: Robbie Williams & Kylie Minogue - Kids

11: The Corrs - Irresisitble

12: Coldplay - Trouble

13: Billie Piper - Walk of Life

14: LeAnn Rimes - Can't Fight the Moonlight

15: Martine McCutcheon - I'm Over You

16: Samantha Mumba - Body II Body

17: Christina Aguilera - Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)

18: A1 - Same Old Brand New You

19: Ricky Martin - She Bangs

20: Baha Men - Who Let the Dogs Out

There were so many songs on NOW 47 but I can't believe how many songs they missed off because of licensing. I've included both Spice Girl songs because "Let Love Lead the Way" is so beautiful. It's the only good thing from the "mature" and "R&B influenced" 'Forever' in my opinion. Queen Billie's Walk of Life MAKES this album because it's so good. And yes Red Hot Chilli Peppers are on it, but Califronication is really good

That's a great selection of songs! I love the variety of years they come from as well. Reminds me of Now That's What I Call a No. 1 in 2012.

My only problem with that tracklist is the inclusion of "Rather Be" which hasn't actually sold one million copies yet I don't think. That and the inclusions of "Diana" and "(We're Gonna) Rock Around The Clock" on disc one - I don't think anyone could name those songs if asked. A really nice tracklist overall though and not too many recent releases!
People couldn't name Rock Around The Clock? That song is extremely famous!
