I'm not defending boom + immune (we've not had one in almost a year afaik) but as I previously stated it encouraged other people outwith The Saturdays' forum to post and have discussion within the forum.

"we got rid of that shit years ago". I seem to think that their are rates + B+I going around Buzzjack to this present date.

I don't think providing fun + having activity within The Saturdays' forum is damaging the website in the slightest, it's not only encouraging current members to stick within the forum (why would you stay in a forum that nobody has anything to talk about). You're being rather pedantic and The Saturdays' forum without any boot + Immune would have still defeated it's nearest opposition rather easily.

So Yeah, I wouldn't say that The Saturdays' forum is an "embarrassment" to Buzzjack - It's one of the most important forums on Buzzjack which you would be foolish to deny.

what moving a load of numbers around tied to a load of Saturdays songs across 35 pages or so to come to the conclusion AFU and WAU are their two favourite songs amongst fans (something everyone knew all along anyway?) and you are also trying to claim this moving, adding and subtracting against track names has persuaded Saturday fans to come in and give them the confidence to add and subtract from the songs they see fit? And all this has been of benefit to this site, the forum and their very lives?

I'm not attacking having a forum that is fun and keeping people engaged but resorting to lowest common denominator spam like that won't do any good. I'm honestly baffled at your defence of it too.

Would you be sulking like this claiming that the Saturdays' forum encourages nothing but spam if it had taken them longer to complete the Boot & Immune?

I do agree to an extent that some of it was a bit of a spam-fest, but it does encourage members to post and to feel a part of something there - what I gathered from reading and posting in the thread was that it wasn't about what the desirable outcome of the whole thing would be; more that you could discuss the songs as they were eliminated, etc (thus the thread being a far more effective tool than dragging up one of the old single threads and saying 'oh this just got eliminated in the B&I, I remember it was fab :)').

Erm, I don't really understand what you're trying to say in the first part there, that I might be more upset if the thread was 45 pages as opposed to 35? What difference would it make and what relevance does it have to what were talking about, it's fairly black and white no? Nor would I 'sulk' over the Saturdays either. It's not something I do in practice and even if I did it isn't a feeling I would fritter upon the Saturdays or a Saturdays thread on an Internet forum.

As for the second part yes it's good to get ppl doing the things you suggest but that can be achieved through a more streamlined, better thought out and frankly less bloated model. That is what being a good moderator is all about. Boot and immunes truly is the bottom of the barrel for postings and there are no reason why they should exist on a site like this. It reflects poorly upon this site and makes us look ultra lightweight, it only serves to encourage the dumbing down of postings and opinions. I remember what that Buzzjack was like years ago and want to avoid seeing it go to that state again. It also muddies the waters in regards to hoeing how well the forum is performing against its counterparts. No matter how large an empire is, it's useless if made out of sugar paper.

No no - would it have made a difference if it had taken longer (say a couple of weeks or so) to achieve the amount of pages it now has, or is it just the general idea of B&I's that you deem unsavoury?

Having read your second paragraph I would probably say that the argument for holding such events within the AFs (or any forum) pales in comparison to those against; and with a forum like The Saturdays they're not as dependent on the high posts a game like that will achieve given the volume of posters it attracts per week, constantly outshining competitors in a big way (although given I don't frequent the forum that often you've got to wonder what they're actually posting when they can still reach 400+ posts hand in hand with no new releases or information coming from the girls ).

:(

This is such an utterly pointless argument/two people bringing out the worst in each other!

The 'spamfest' in the Sats Forum is no worse than any spamfest I've seen in the chart forum and The Sats AF is the most active/loon attracting of them all because it's pretty much the official Saturdays Forum wheras most of the others have duplicate or superior equivalents. There is nothing more to it than this.

moderating is much more than just what the word suggests and involves actually running your small area of BuzzJack. This in turn means trying to get new members to join, making sure it makes sense to new people who join up and also everyone (including the mods) getting a piece of what they want from everything! Mods are in a great positions to drive that while also getting the satisfaction from the end result.

With all forums there will be things that can be changed but having an active main forum or AF is no small feat and takes many months of planning and building. As we grow we will offer more features to AF and MF mods but I have no problem with popularity, however it is attained. B&I might sometimes be repetitive but people keep coming back and not just taking part in them but also being active in other topics / parts of the forum. When the new site goes live and we work through having new content and exciting features this traffic will be important for us to organically grow!

Can I just point out those 4 itunes position posts are over 3 days. Id hardly class that as spam.
and they all say exactly the same thing: the saturdays aren't really troubling the charts with any of their songs; true of many artists
Who cared anyway? it's the sats itunes watch thread. One of their tracks had been reduced on price and we're watching it (hopefully) climb the chart.

If people do not like how a forum is run they will not take part. The Saturdays Forum's users clearly enjoy said forum, or they wouldn't post as much as they do. Judging by the relatively steady flow of new members to that forum I think we can assume it is not coming across badly to non-members who happen to join it and regardless of what people who don't post there think of Boot & Immunes, it is a successful forum.

I can't even fathom this being an argument. The only people who matter in relation to the Saturdays forum are the people actually likely to use it and clearly they love it. Whether or not I like B&Is or iTunes updates is entirely irrelevant, as is whether or not Jake, Pavel or Sandro like them.
