It was a strange decision for Pixar to make a sequel to a film that had generated mixed reviews, especially considering it was only going to be the second film to recieve a sequel (Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo would recieve them afterwards). It seems the main reasons for making it were for marketing purposes and the Pixar team's own personal preferences. I know it may be wrong for me to write a commentary on a film that I have never seen, and this may make me a flop host, but it does sadden me to see this made when I have SO MUCH LOVE for the majority of the other Pixar films. What annoys me the most is that the first film didn't particularly justfy another film, especially not a film like this. How did we get from racing and Route 66 to SPIES, could they not have just made a spies film with different characters? I don't know and I don't particularly care either. It's the film that recieved the lowest amount of votes too so it seems that most of you agree too. Ugh, what is there to say really. It's not worse, but also no better than Cars. A joyless, boring, $$$ driven film (just like the first) to sell some shitty merchandise.Wrong. No better than the 1st movie, which is bad news really. Edited February 22, 201411 yr by Rabbit Heart
February 21, 201411 yr It was definitely a marketing thing. I'm sure i've heard that 'Cars' is one of their most profitable movies when you take in all the products for it too? :o I love the first and the second is decent but not shocked at it coming last.
February 21, 201411 yr I'm not surprised to see Cars 2 out first - but I am surprised that it averaged 4.6 !! :o I gave it 3 and I thought that that was generous !!

I'm fairly certain I read somewhere than Cars merchandise earns ALOT of dosh. Pretty much the reason for Planes' existence aswell! The few times I've seen the second one, I have really enjoyed, so naturally I'm sad to see this last (even if it was never going to come anywhere else in a million years).

When I saw the initial teasers for this film, I have to admit that I was slightly disappointed and it just went a bit downhill from there. It's not a particularly bad/awful film, it just lacks the charm of it's predecessors and gets quite boring early on. It does retain the impressive visuals however along with a good ensemble cast led by Mator but it doesn't stand out alongside the impressive list of Pixar films. Interestingly however, it appears that a 'cars' film was planned to be released after A Bug's Life. Incidently, at the time of release, it contained the lowest score on Rotten Tomatoes since A Bug's Life (74% compared to 92%). It is now holds the second lowest rating, 'beaten' only by the sequel which holds 39%. Therefore, Buzzjack is so far in line with the Critic's scores and if this continues, Brave will be the next film to fall, but will this happen? Pixar obviously made this for one reason, MERCHANDISE $$$. A lacklustre film from the ground up.one of the worst films I have ever watched, so so so BORINGThe only Pixar film I wouldn't get much enjoyment out of watching againAll this Cars shade in this thread upsets me, it's my favourite film!I just don't get it. So boring. I can't imagine why this could be anyone's favourite movie Edited February 22, 201411 yr by Rabbit Heart

Genuinely thought this could have beaten Brave, at least. :snif:
February 21, 201411 yr Brave IS better than the 2 Cars films, but really it's not by much and all 3 should be consigned to the rubbish heap.
February 21, 201411 yr Cars aren't generally one of Buzzjack's most talked about subjects anyway And ginger Scottish girls are a hot BJ topic?

Brave became Pixar's first fairy tale, although it's not particularly based on an orignal story in the vein of Disney fairy tales and it also holds the award for being their first film to star a female protagonist. It takes place in the Scottish highlands and therefore it contains some impressive visuals. It's the only other film on the list that I have yet to see and I think this is largely down to the fact that, like Cars 2, it didn't feel particularly neccessary as Disney specialize in fairy tales, allowing Pixar to tell a wide variety of different stories. Something I had planned to do (but forgot yesterday) was to include some of your comments about the films that some of you wrote when posting your rates. Here's what you had to say about Brave: Ugh, this isn't BAD, but I disliked most of the characters, Merida basically just needed a good old slap and locked in her room. The whole bear thing was both tedious and annoying, it went on for too long and for me lacked the real emotional payoff needed to GIVE A f***. The busty maid, the 3 brothers, the dad and the warring lords did what they could to make it a decent watch though.Brave is my least favourite 'Disney Princess' movie but by no means my least favourite Disney Pixar filmQuite dull. Had one or two moments which earned a laugh, but this is not up to par for Pixar. This is my absolute fave animation ever from pixar! I loved it so much I went to see it twice
