I disagree that instant grats harm single success. Taylor Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble, a promo single not an instant grat but the same point applies, had no problem being huge despite being a top 30 hit as a promo single. What's more is that most "sales" of instant grats are from album pre-orders anyway.

oh dear... just listened to 'Act My Age' and it really is awful. the lyrics in the verses... :unsure: And to think that made it onto the album over Naughty Boy's track?!

Maybe the other 8 tracks they wrote for this album were even shitter. I agree it isnt the best song of the album but it's a fun song and i really laugh when i hear the Irish dance music at the start :lol:

Act My Age is kinda odd but it stands out and is quite quirky lol. The other three deluxe tracks range from nice to a bit boring. Not as good as the UAN and MM deluxe tracks, but waaaay better than the TMH ones.

Act My Age is brilliant, not even close to the worst thing they've done! The verses are probably my favourite thing on the whole album, so infectiously catchy. Plus I think it's very relevant to them as a band. At first I found the folkyness of it a bit odd, but it's barely even in there, it's just that beginning moment where you're like gobsmacked. The chorus is a bit messy though, with the cheap house drop haha.

Okay WHY did I not appreciate 'Fireproof' when it was first released? Definitely one of my favourites now.

Finally listened to the deluxe tracks! 'Change My Ticket' is absolutely brilliant, exactly the sort of sound they should be doing, it suits them so well. Could well rival 'Stockholm Syndrome' as my favourite album track of Four. 'Illusion' and 'Once In A Lifetime' haven't struck me as anything special yet. 'Act My Age'. Well, it's not the worst thing they've ever done (stay mad 'Gotta Be You' fan x). I enjoy the quirky Irish influenced backing track and to be honest I think they could've gone even more wacky with the instrumental! (the way some fans had been going on I was expecting the 1D version of this!)

 

Will be posting my rate after I've given the deluxe tracks a few more spins.

Does the album have guest vocals? There's this girly voice on a few tracks and I just can't understand who is singing those parts. Is it one of the boys? oops i bet it's the irish one~

Actually quite a good album. Miles better than Midnight Memories and you can hear it's a far more mature record.

Number 1 in the first midweek update with 75k sold so far, about 60k ahead of the number 2 so I should say number 1 is in the bag for them already.

I'd imagine they'll do around 145-150k by Sunday. Obviously quite a drop on last year but still very good going.

Not bad at all! If you think about it, the last three all had a pretty big single out before/during the album release - WMYB, Little Things and SOML respectively, whereas this only has Steal My Girl which hasn't been THAT huge really, so pretty good going really!
