I'm not saying you're wrong but out of curiousity what makes you think they'll playlist it late? Is it because they did it last time with Disco Love?

You answered it yourself. ;)

I guess we'll see on Wednesday. It doesn't help that they've released at such a crowded time. Radio 1 has Iggy, The Vamps, Sigma, John Newman (Who I would say are all certains) to be playlisted that are released the same week. They might snub Saturdays simply because there isn't room for them.

All this worry and they'll probably be track of the day tomorrow :P (but probably not)

They will get playlisted late in my opinion because there isn't room for them. Thing is, each week, there are a few songs dropping off their playlist, that's when 'Not Giving Up' will be added...Just later than usual.

Quite sad, it started all really well and then the reality set in!

I guess if they playlist them late, it'll hopefully be C-B-release and not C-C-release like Disco Love, which was awful.
C-B-A is entirely likely and I would be okay with that. They need to make the A-List though.

That would be perfect. A-list the week before release always helps majorly with exposure and momentum.

Up to 34 on rolling Tv now.

It would be great if The Saturdays could do some early promo and perform on the spots relief programme next week. I don't think they'll be considered direct competition to Little Mix because Little Mix are releasing 3 weeks earlier.

The voice would be amazing for them, too - if they can get strictly, which is a bigger show, I don't see why The Voice would be a no. It gets roughly 8 million viewers and would benefit them not than Strictly did because it's a music based show.

I don't think they will get much promo for this. It's very sad because it deserves so much more, but 'Not Giving Up' is pretty much only a way manage another top 10 and sell the group to whoever is in charges of the summer festivals and gigs. It's easier to say you're still relevant when your last top 10/5 single dates from April 2014 and not October 2013.

I'm pretty sure this is the only reason why they are releasing it. I really don't believe they expect much out of it which is why I don't believe they will spend a lot more on the promo than what they spent with the 30 Days/Gentleman promo, for example.

Not sure what's given you that impression Hurricane. The promo for Disco Love was excellent and that is the most recent release we can go by, so I think we should give them the benefit of the doubt. It's still a month prior to release and this is the most they've hyped a single via social media since What About Us.

EDIT: The Hits radio has started spinning this! And Radio 1 played What About Us today.

Because it makes sense and that's how it works in the industry...

They have to prove whoever's in charge of the festivals/gigs that having them on their set will help selling tickets. They had plenty of time to release 'Not Giving Up' before. It made sense to wait until December was over, but technically, if we follow how the label and the girls usually work (or anyone really), this single should have been released in January/February. Instead, they hold on to it for so long and decide to release it in April when most of the gigs planners will be making their set for the summer.

'Disco Love' had amazing promotion because it was the lead single of an album that needed to be promoted. However, the album is on 20k, and a Greatest Hits have been confirmed by insiders (so the label has clearly already moved on), I don't know what exactly you expect 'Not Giving Up' to do for the album... :/ Of course, all the sales they can get will be good, but I'm not so sure with their current situation if they can afford expensive promo slots. I can't see them making much money out of the album so to promote it expensively isn't the smartest move, especially if they are cooking up a Greatest Hits - a new release - that will need promotion (therefore, money). Better save the cash for that.

I'm not saying they won't be promoting. Clearly they have This Morning and all the breakfast shows on lock, but I can only see them getting Alan Carr or something for prime-time TV. Which, at the end of the day, is still good promo. The main problem is airplay. I'm just saying we shouldn't be expecting the same amount of promo because the last single - which was leading the album and was released in a time with plenty possibilities for promo - was promoted nicely.

Also, I'm aware it feels like a "first single" because it's pretty much being released that way and well it's just as good as a first single should be, but at the end of the day, it's the fifth single of a campaign that wasn't that much profitable in the end - except for 'What About Us'. So it makes sense to promote it with the usual promo, obtain another top 10 to get the girls other deals/endorsements out of their relevancy and move on.

Sorry I know I'm quite the pessimistic member as per usual, but I think I'm being realistic here? Don't get me wrong, I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong, but it does feel like what I'm saying makes perfect sense. Also I'm quite mad because 'Not Giving Up' is one of my favorite songs and it deserves so much more, but hey. -_- :(

Overtaking The Vamps and jumping up to 32 on Rolling TV airplay.

Edit - Hopefully this can make the top 30 on TV airplay by the end of the week, because currently it's the only exposure the song is getting.

I didn't realise artists had to pay to promote? I thought it was the other way around

First of all festivals line ups would have been put together well before this time of year. Some even start selecting the year before.

Even if a Greatest Hits is planned, promoting this single to be as big as possible would be necessary as the better it dies the better it will help promote a greatest hits.

People always seem to be really pessimistic here when they should just be enjoying it all.

I'm pessimistic and enjoy the debates at the same time but as Hurricane (I think) said above, we need to be realistic.

None the less, still good about moving up the rolling chart :)

My god! All the negativity :(
Any idea how this is doing on radio?

It's not.

Tonight is the night where Radio 1 will be adding most of the April 6th releases to the C-list, though.

Any idea how this is doing on radio?

It's gotten a few plays on Kiss and The Hits which is good. It's not going to do much until Radio 1 picks it up though.

Hurricane, you're never pessimistic or optimistic; you're always realistic which is awesome.
Hurricane, I hope you're right about them playlist one them a week late, because NGU was not playlisted. :(

I don't see why they keep playing Disco Love and What About Us, if they're not going to support their releases. There are actually 3 or 4 songs not doing well which could have easily come off their playlist too. I really thought this could have been a successful single.
