Exactly. 2 weeks before (today) is the latest they'll playlist a usual release. If they wanted to playlist 'Not Giving Up', they would have by now. Instead they are playing older songs by The Saturdays.

They sometimes playlist a song on its release week (i.e. they'd be playlisted on 9th April for its 2nd week of sales).

They only do that if something is looking to chart in the 3 in the midweeks, don't they - which, sadly, this will not. They didn't even do it for Flo Rida's new song, who they have always supported

The head of radio 1 said guitar music was going to be back, and pop was on it's way out. How does that happen? Playlist lots of guitar driven songs.

Anyway, with us not hearing Bigger despite it being promised to us last week, I wouldn't be shocked if this release isn't canceled.

I'd be pretty upset :( I have a feeling Radio 1 are having more indie acts on their playlist as quite a few big british artists have started out as being indie, so it is in a bid to have newer artists resulting in there desperation to have a lower age audience

(my theory)

Playlists are announced on Wednesday, and they start getting played the next Monday. So they are already left out of next week's playlist. We'll see if they get listed next Wednesday, for the week before the release (which I doubt).

Oh! How embarrassing! I did not know that!

I which case, this epically sucks!

It's quite sad - I always said NGU would probably have done really well, if it got the airplay, and it just isn't. Radio 1 are indeed very selective with their pop these days. Katy Perry, 1D and Little Mix are the only exceptions. I can safely say that, had they playlisted NGU, it would have done much better than 1D's newest single and probably better than Word Up!, too.

I don't know what the future holds for The Saturdays now. The only hope they have is if Capital starts playing NGU at times other than the middle of the night.

I hope you're all ready for Shadow's underwear selfie...

Is it possible that they could go straight in to the A-List the week of release? :)

Completely agree. I had really high hopes for this single, because even though it was the fifth release from the album, the album didn't sell well, meaning lots of people didn't have, and may not have heard the song. Unless Capital starts ramming this song down people's throats, this could end very badly

Absolutely not.

If anything, they'll get C-listed. But that's an extremely small chance at this point. They are not that lucky.

As much as I (clearly) love The Sats, this just proves that you can only half-ass your career for so long before everything unravels. Had they been more aggressive with this release, released earlier, did early promo, did radio promo, etc. etc. things would be looking a lot better. There have been so many wasted opportunities throughout the LFTW campaign.

I do still believe that the song will go Top 10 based on quality alone, but I don't expect much more at this point.

Maybe this will teach them a lesson.

Next campaign don't release the Gentleman's and the Disco Love's before the Not Giving Up.

Don't Diss the disco Love :( It's pure pop amazingess! :(

It's such a cliché thing for a Sats fan to say, but 'Gentleman' really did kill this era, and probably their career now. I thought Disco Love has redeemed them to Radio 1, since they were only playing it a couple of hours ago, but obviously not.
Or.......... just play it safe and stick to whats gotten them thus far.
I too am bewildered by the fact that they're still playing Disco Love. It does give me hope that they'll either 1) Playlist them next week, which is unlikely or 2) Skip over Not Giving Up but remain open to supporting future releases

It's a fantastic song, but 'Not Giving Up' is probably one of their most *cooler* releases and shits all over it, tbh.

Agreed! Disco Love went top 5 remember.......

I think they had an amazing run but maybe it's time to stop chasing lights

Love that chasing lights joke

I don't get why this forum gets so down on Disco Love - it reached number five, sold 125k or something like that and for the girls it is a good song - it could have been completely disastrous yet it wasn't (apart from criticisms for the video)

I don't think its going to do as disastrous as some of you are making out. Upon saying that, it'll probably enter the charts around #10 and then drop quickly and be forgotten about.

The album's done, Not Giving Up isn't going to do anything for them - time to move on. It's a shame that this era has had so many up's and (more) downs, because handled well it would have done so much more.
