I'd rather them not release again as hard as that is to say. If their last single only peaked at #38, the next one could ruin their top 40 run altogether

Little Mix have the potential. It's just their SYCO's side project. They barely get anything from SYCO and generally their promo relies on XF & BGT. Move was not even pushed in the US in one form. They need to come back with a BIG song.

Danity Kane will obviously regroup in 2015 and make everyone else seem irrelevant :kink:

I agree with most of the previous posters.

Neon Jungle are basically over. If a girl band's debut album does poorly then there usually isn't any chance of revival. Aside from Braveheart they haven't really done anything notable.

I do think that some of you are downplaying Little Mix’s success. They’ve done really well considering the current sales climate. Strong album sales are going to lead to lower selling singles. Maybe they should be doing better considering everything they have in their corner, but in general they are the biggest girlband right now.

As much as I’m a loon for The Saturdays I realize that there is about a 50/50 chance that they’ll actually release new material and if they do, there’s about a 25% chance it will do anything. They do have their longevity and their bond as a group going for them, as well as a pretty solid fan base that consistently pushes their albums Top 10, but they need to reel the general public back in if they want another hit.

Fifth Harmony could go either way. I think someone (Neil?) mentioned that they’re big in the US but they really aren’t. Their album went #6 and then sank like a rock and they still haven’t had a bonafide hit here. Sledgehammer is picking up however and is probably their best song to date. I can see it doing something in the UK too if it gets the right amount of support.

I agree that GRL have the most potential at this point. Ugly Heart is the most recent girl group hit and I think losing Simone has generated more interest and support for them. If Lighthouse is half as good as the snippet sounds then I think it may seal the deal for them.

I actually don't think a PCD reunion in 2015 is out of the question. They've been hinting at it quite a bit lately and with Nicole's album flopping they might surprise us and regroup. Although I'm not sure there's even any interest at this point.

Everyone in The Sats forum will just have to stream like crazy :kink:

If they don't have a big anthem on this next album will they ever? Girls Aloud had some pretty big numbers that stood out in their first few years and The Saturdays had two of their biggest songs by their second and third album. Wings and Move are good but they don't scream anthem.

I really hope you're right for it sealing them the deal - they deserve to be massive!

Also note to all, there is no way Little Mix will drop a Q1 album release. If anything I can see single one Jan/Feb... single two April/May (performance on BGT)... single three August/Sept time in time for the album/X Factor promo.

Thoughts:

1.) I agree with G.R.L. having the most potential out of all of them. If LM/Sats can be the GA/SB analogy, then they're surely the PCD of this decade. "Ugly Heart" was huge worldwide despite flopping in the US, and "Lighthouse" seems to be really something. I'm interested to see how they do as a quartet.

2.) Little Mix releasing in the same week with the likes of say, Meghan Trainor, will probably be a huge challenge for them, but they do have a loyal fan base (plus the Directioners because hello Perrie), so I think it will all lead down to promo. I'd like to see them release another "Move", though.

3.) The Sats can have a chance to come back from their Greatest Hits flopping. I also think that the individual TV appearances can help their profile for their next era. Look at what Chasing The Saturdays did to "What About Us". Streaming will also play a huge part, so they'll definitely need to garner support in that front. And maybe releasing at a point where they can promote the song as effectively as they can. "Not Giving Up" was one of their best tracks, but did suffer from limited promo.

4.) Fifth Harmony... "Sledgehammer" will probably be the one time I'll actually condone payola but I don't care. It's already garnering a lot more hometown support than their previous tracks, and I'd imagine their team going all out for its upcoming worldwide impact.

5.) Neon Jungle seemed to be grasping for straws after "Welcome To The Jungle" was released. Now, "Louder" was beautiful, but I agree that they do really thrive when it comes to gritty dance tracks. Also, them scrapping the release for "Can't Stop The Love" with a video already out just seemed like a waste of time and money.

We may even see a new girl band next year... The possibilities are endless tbh.

Anything but this, it's exhausting liking so many of the contemporary girl groups!

No that's not what I meant LoveKiller , I said they're bringing in money for Simon so I can't see them getting dropped. I'm sure their debut single sold 500,000 copies and Bo$$ is also GOLD now so that's another 500,000 copies which is bringing in just under $1 million Simon and probably another 100-200k with their other releases. I think it's more enough to keep them signed to Syco and there could always be another window of oppurtunity for them (which I kinda doubt but I'll try be optimistic).

Simon's bound to take more interest in Fifth Harmony as he put them together; highly doubt they'd be dropped anytime soon.

They might have made 1 million dollars from single sales but think how much money has been spent on writing, recording and promoting the material plus photoshoots/interviews/travelling/music videos/money towards management, stylists and the girls themselves and you'll find there's probably a money loss somewhere.

It certainly wasn't the reason it was #01 surely  I think WAU got to number purely because for them it was widely appealing, I'm a huge fan but it's certainly an anomaly in their list of releases.

What I want now is MKS' new album :( "No Regrets" and "Today" were screaming to be released, even I know it won't happen :(
Little Mix - Seem to have very "average" success here? I mean, they can never be described as flops but it seems that they aren't destined to be MASSIVE. They aren't really singles artists and their album sales are fine, but nothing amazing. Even with X-Factor, Britains Got Talent, a connection to One Direction and all the other promo/airplay they just don't seem to be generating much of an interest. Where do they go from here? They aren't taking off in America either no matter how much money has been invested in them. I don't know what will happen with them. Will they continue releasing 200K - 300K selling albums, one or two top ten singles per album and then disappearing again? The fun of girl groups has mostly been their huge single success (Spice Girls and the #1's, Girls Aloud and their top ten streaks) and the sexy image, so Little Mix aren't really filling the traditional girl group role or even feel like they are "there" most of the time. There's no gossip, no lads talking about the "fit one", no sexy music videos, no huge singles....just decent sales, decent single success and then rinse + repeat?

They haven't done too badly considering you and pretty much everyone else thought "Rhythmix" would leave in the first week. ;) While they haven't had a massive selling single/album, I would say their sales are better than "average". I'll be very happy if they continue to sell 200k-300k albums. Nothing to be sniffed at in this day and age.

I would also say Little Mix are more comparable with Sugababes and All Saints rather than your traditional five-piece girl group like The Saturdays/Spice Girls and Girls Aloud. Little Mix's biggest selling point is their vocal harmonies rather than having a sexy image.

I think it's harsh to say Little Mix are just "there". They are very bubbly girls, certainly more interesting than The Saturdays.

I think it's subject to opinion on that last one. I find Little Mix SO boring in their interviews yet find myself laughing all the time at GIFs from Chasing The Sats/Sats 24/7/Interviews etc. I do agree though 200k albums are not at all shabby!

The problem I have with Little Mix, is that Jade and Perrie seem to be the ones to put in the effort. Leigh-Anne sometimes does but Jesy seems to just try to look sexy and make her way through as many z-Listers as possible  it makes me think that 50% of them want to do music and the other 50% want fame.

Leigh-Anne is so in it for the fame - I remember reading an interview last year before Salute was released where she was on about not taking ID with her to nightclubs and joking or not, pretty egotistic. I can't deny that they had a pretty good first two eras whereas The Sats kinda' failed on their second.

From the Year End UK Sales topic.

Songs

#94 - 257,500 - GRL - Ugly Heart

#100 - 253,000 - Neon Jungle - Braveheart

Albums

#84 - 84,000 - Little Mix - Salute (Total: 275,500)

Realistically The Saturdays aren't going to release again nor is Neon Jungle after their flop albums. I adore The Saturdays though I really do want them to come back with something. They're one of the most underrated artists ever.

G.R.L. have a lot of potential especially with Lighthouse! I'm excited to see what their album will sound like.

I'm not that excited for Fifth Harmony I think they will fizzle out this year after releasing a mediocre album which I will love for not even a week ..

Little Mix get better and better with every single. I really think they have the most potential out of any girl group in the world right now.

I actually don't see the problem with the Sats. So floppy as they are at the minute, I don't know any mid profile celebrities that could get a top 40 hit with no little promo and no radio support. It's usually only the big solo stars/groups that manage that.
