Posted March 24, 201411 yr SAM SMITH @samsmithworld · 12h ago My Second Single debuts TOMORROW!!!! #staywithme 2nd single from the album debuts tomorrow night on Radio 1 at 7:30pm! As one of the seemingly few supporters of "Money On My Mind" on here, I'm very excited to hear this. Love everything I've heard so far and am really anticipating his album. Expecting this to be a safer single to lead into the album. Album is out 26th May so I imagine this will be released the week before.
March 26, 201411 yr Author It's so much like something Emeli would do. That ain't a bad thing for me though, I really like it, just nowhere near as much as his big hits! It's exactly what I expected to launch the album.
March 26, 201411 yr The title is too similar to 'Safe With Me'. I almost thought the song is going to be released again (as a single this time). Edited March 26, 201411 yr by FM11
March 26, 201411 yr Bit boring isnt it?! I think I will only ever like Latch from him. Same here (well, that and 'Nirvana'). He's got talent though, so I'm sure he'll do something good again one day.
March 27, 201411 yr it's so disappointing that somebody who started off with such killer collaborations last year has ended up making what appears to be a record akin to that of a male emeli sande. it seems to me a level of authenticity is integral in the pushing and promoting someone like sam when he possesses such an incredible voice. what he clearly lacks is life experience, to all intents and purposes he seems to be an individual who has grown up in suburbia and had a very normal life-- something that doesn't make for particularly interesting songs. none of his music has any character thus far and it really does fall into a radio 2 trajectory. i think his label could have gone two ways with him: worked with up and coming dance-leaning producers or played it safe and gone beige and banal and sadly they've gone for safety. he reminds me a lot of paulo nutini in the sense here is someone creating music that nobody within his peer group is interested in. it's a shame really. this promo image says an awful lot: http://www.soulbounce.com/soul/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Sam-Smith-Tea.jpg
March 28, 201411 yr Author it's so disappointing that somebody who started off with such killer collaborations last year has ended up making what appears to be a record akin to that of a male emeli sande. This is exactly what I've been worried his album will sound like and although I appreciate many of Emeli's tracks and I imagine he'll have a lot of success with it, there's a lot more potential that I'd have liked to see blossom. pB-5XG-DbAA
March 28, 201411 yr does the song/music any reference to women? don't they kind of avoid showing who is in the bed he is just leaving? i drift off with both so hadn't noticed but yeah he almost certainly is, though hasn't come out publically yet.
March 28, 201411 yr I remember him possibly making a reference to a man in his cover of When I Was Your Man Edited March 28, 201411 yr by G R I F F
March 29, 201411 yr He is dating BANKS at the moment so maybe he isn't so gay, or more likely, will come out as gay at a later date.
March 30, 201411 yr This is currently #10 on US iTunes from a TV performance that aired at midnight. Considering he's much less established in the States, it's remarkable on all accounts. Plus, it did sound good live. If only the song was more impressive!
March 30, 201411 yr I can see why they love it in the US. I love Sam Smith, but this is the worst thing I've heard from him
March 30, 201411 yr very bland :( a great voice obviously, but the last 2 singles just aren't doing it for me
March 31, 201411 yr You can watch his stunning performance of this (and Lay Me Down) here: http://www.variancemagazine.com/index.php?...o&Itemid=81 I am not really getting all the mass hatred for this on here. I would have liked some more dance Sam but it was never going to happen with his solo album, hopefully he can do some more dance features in the future. I think this song is by far the best thing I have heard from his solo work (yes, better than Nirvana) and I can't see it being anything but one of the year's biggest hits.
April 3, 201411 yr Big Sam Smith...NOT a big fan of this song. Dull, dull, dull. Disappointing really as the guy has talent
