Loved Technotronic at the time, but it's aged a bit poorly. Not interested in Freddie at all...

but KLF, now you're talking! I hope What Time is Love? (their best song, bar none) made the countdown, but it didn't reach quite as high a position even if it was being sold during the relatively busier time of the late summer compared to 3AM which was mostly Jan/Feb.

I think the popularity of 3AM Eternal was partly down to the group's crazy Top of the Pops performances with the whole KLF tribe en masse on stage...and who can forget the clarinet soloist?

Absolute beast of a tune, my favourite KLF track by some distance.

It's strange that people have clear favourite KLF singles when their standard was so high.

MC Sar & The Real McCoy 'Another Night' ~ very cheesy, but addictive!

Olive 'You're Not Alone' ~ sublime - one of my favourite tracks of all-time!

Mc Sar & The Real McCoy - Another Night   Still love this even today. Great weekend song!

Olive - You're Not Alone -  Another great 90's dance track that still sounds fresh today. It still listen to it regularly on my ipod.

Livin Joy - Don't Stop Movin'  I've still got so much love for this. Looking forward to 'Dreamer' cropping up later too.

50. SWAY (MUCHO MAMBO)- Shaft (351,000)

http://www.recordsale.de/cdpix/s/shaft-(mucho_mambo)_sway.jpg

YEAR: 1999

PEAK POSITION: 2

Remember the Latin music craze of 1999? Well in the mix were this duo who took this 1953 track recorded by (among others) Perez Prado who was also the originator of Lou Bega’s “Mambo No 5” which held this track off the No 1 spot. The group rebranded themselves Da Muttz and scored another top 20 hit in 2000 with “Whassup”.

PEAK POSITION: 3

No 1 virtually across the board in Europe this tale of Scatman John overcoming his stutter by learning to scat was always going to be a success here. Larkin (his real name) died in 1999 from cancer but he’s the kinda guy who couldn’t image could become a pop star these days.

48. GET READY FOR THIS- 2 Unlimited (353,000)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5b/Get_Ready_For_This.jpg

YEAR: 1991

PEAK POSITION: 2

Essentially a front for the writing skills of Phil Wilde and Jean-Paul DeCoster, 2 Unlimited had a hit across Europe with a version of this track which contained a rap by Slijngaard and vocals by Doth, but for the UK release Waterman decided to edit their parts out- the only vocal in it “Y’all ready for this” is a sample for D.O.C’s “It’s Funky Enough”. Result was a hit that had nothing to do with the act themselves.

Shaft... what a load of old tosh that was! I think I was annoyed how much of a bigger hit this was compared to the proper ibiza anthems from the same time like Paul Johnson and Moloko. I guess it had the novelty factor.

Scatman John... I havent heard that since when it was probably last in the charts. Absolutely bizarre!

The appreciation for Scatman John is a bit surprising. Obviously he has a talent but I didn't think he'd be that popular on Buzzjack.

Shaft 'Sway' ~ Fabulous summer anthem!

Scatman John 'Scatman' ~ R.I.P. Scatman John a true iconic legend! *.*

2 Unlimited 'Get Ready For This' ~ Nice. :D

Was

ever released in the UK?

I loved this to bits back in 1998 and it was heavily featured in German music channels.

Strange, the "Get Ready For This" instrumental was the hit version in the US too. Much prefer the version with Ray & Anita's vocals.

47. YOU DON’T KNOW ME- Armand Van Helden Featuring Duane Harden (354,000)

YEAR: 1999

PEAK POSITION: 1

With the synths sampled from Carrie Lucas’ “Dance With You” and a drum sample from Jaydee’s “Plastic Dreams” this made up the greater part of Van Helden’s “You Don’t Know Me”. Van Helden was of course back at the top 10 years after this courtesy of Mr Dizzee Rascal.

46. THE LAUNCH- DJ Jean (358,000)

YEAR: 1999

PEAK POSITION: 2

A Dutch chart topper in March 99 this took 6 months to make it across the North sea where it almost repeated the feat (again that naughty Lou Bega stopped this going all the way). It’s co-produced by fellow Dutch producers Klubbheads who themselves had 90s top 10 hits.

45. DREAMER- Livin’ Joy (361,000)

http://www.jaren90muziek.nl/data/kclntowa/front.jpg

YEAR: 1994/95

PEAK POSITION: 1

Before going onto to rename themselves Alex Party the Visnadi brothers called themselves Livin Joy (well before and after actually) and found themselves in 1994 with a No 18 hit in this track. It proved popular with a radio and caused a re-issue in May 1995 when it topped the charts with just a 500 copies margin over Oasis’ “Some Might Say”, but it owed that victory to an ineligible 12” of the Oasis track which charted separately at No 71 in the same week.

"Dreamer" and "U Don't Know Me"

"The Launch" is pretty good too, but again, 1999 has benefitted its' sales A LOT.

Another 3 superb dance songs there. Dreamer is one of my favourite dance songs of all time.
