Awful choice. When you have Gypsy as an option, you just don't go for the camp pop choice.

Regina was right in that that already happened. She now needs to try and turn things around, hopefully with Gypsy as 4th single then a new album. LEt's face it, any album with Venus on it, even an MJ album, would struggle.

 

 

I know everyone's entitled to their own views. But seriously GYPSY of all songs to save her career? Gypsy is basically a The Edge Of Glory replica but nowhere near on the same level of quality. And can someone explain this Venus hate to me? Really baffling couple of posts I've read now!! :unsure:

I get what you're saying Aly, but surely her tour sales, media attention, twitter followers and the reasonable success of 'Applause' and 'Do What U Want' (with no music video) beg to differ? And the "fanbase only act" excuse is not even applicable in the abovementioned. She is still incredibly relevant and is still in the limelight, people have always found reasons to be sour about Gaga - Fame's hermaphrodite-gate, BTW's satanism-gate says hai. It's not only now all of a sudden.

 

As for self-indulgance, have you seen Gaga live or her Monster Ball dvd or an in-depth interview with her? She really is anything but, sure, she acts every now and then like that but she's been a controversial pop star from day 1 and is still the same person. You can bring up excuses like the pop emergency or Perez-gate, and a lyrical line or two but her attitude at the end of the day has been exactly the same. I don't know if it's people that aren't fans of ARTPOP that are now inclined to find reasons to dislike her or a mild Alexandra Burke-like bandwagon. Either way her fanbase isn't getting any smaller and neither is her relevancy.

 

'G.U.Y.' is coming off a long break from Gaga singles-wise and a confusing mess of an era, many people don't own the album so anything is possible really. It's also a very GP-appealing, easy listening and radio-friendly type of song. Many critics have said it's ARTPOP's answer to 'Poker Face' :drama: so the potential is there! We'll just have to wait and see how bog of a video it turns out to be and I doubt radio will snub her in the slightest either. It's actually my 4th favourite song on the album (after the holy trinity of 'Sexxx Dreams', 'Do What U Want' and 'Gypsy'), I just think something like this isn't what she needs to try and turn the general perception of her around.

 

If it can somehow do the trick for her, then great! I'll gladly eat my words.

Someone on another forum said this would probably perform better if it was billed as "Zedd feat. Lady Gaga". Sadly, I think that might actually be true.

i've heard 'venus' at a party and everyone went crazy for it, but then they were all gay and f***ed off their tits *.*
