I wouldn't be suprised if Notorious and What About Us got their certifications before the album was released.

They aren't
that
close.

What About Us must be, surely?

Probably still at least 5k to go.

I agree

I think 'What About Us' has less than 2,000 until they hit 400,000. I remember at the end of the year they were on 387,200. I'm sure in the last four months they've shifted almost 7,000 copies as it's constantly been top 1500.

Yeah, they must both be quite close. And Notorious was on 180k 2 years ago. To go silver before GH is out it only needs to have sold an average of 170 a week, it's consistently popping up in the pop chart so I can't see it being THAT far off.
I think Notorious and What About Us are close enough and hopefully the Greatest Hits album and tour will give them the final push they need to be certified Silver and Gold, What about Forever Is Over? ...or is that not close enough yet?

Most Recent Sales Total: 183,211 [March 2013], according to the single sales thread.

I do hope the Greatest Hits era boosts the older singles sales and possibly chart positions #getworktop20 :D

There's no chance of new peaks - unless for some unlikely reason one of their songs is performed on X factor. They should definitely get a sales boost for most of their singles when the album is out though. - some of the singles might even chart in the top 200 if the album is getting enough publicity.

I can see Ego, Higher, Up, All Fired Up and WBU easily going top 150/200 IF the album goes top 5. I think there was a lot of hype when they announced the tour with banners all over the internet to promote it. We'll have to see if it stays there or dies down

They should do what JLS did and with the "hype" of the album make one of the singles off the GH 59p - Higher, Ego or Up - as they might have the possibility of eventually going Gold.

The pre-order with tour tickets thing was genius as many people couldn't see the opt out sign. Hopefully they can sell 2,000 of these like that

looking at ticket sales - they could easily shift 5k that way id say. thats without the causal buyers of the hits and fan sales. I'd say at this stage 20k is more than achieveable first week sales. That would be a #3 this week, but in a very quiet week could score them a #1.

Obviously that might change, but there is no reason that this should flop, especially being as the tour is only a month after the album. With the right promo and marketing approach of the label/girls this could be a successful era. But I want to stress that the tweets/posts of it being on par with TSOGA make me lolly hard.

The Sound of Girls Aloud

I know they don't usually bother, but prime-time TV adverts would be a really good shout for this album.

If they show a short clip from a few of Higher, Up, Issues, All Fired Up, Missing You, Ego, What About Us, Just Can't Get Enough and Disco Love it'll have people saying 'Oh, they have a few tunes actually'!

ooops sorry! yeah Sound of Girls Aloud.. I saw a tweet that read

"ga sold 1m copies of their greatest hits and it didn't even have as many singles on as the sats one" hahahahahah

I doubt it. People thought Not Giving Up would go top 100 when the album was released and it didn't, people thought What About Us would go top 200 again after Strictly/Top Of The Pops/New Year and it didn't and there's no way random singles by The Saturdays are going to go top 200 when their Greatest Hits is out. I'd love to be proved wrong but I think we have to be realistic.
